We spent 4 nights exploring the Everglades around Tamiami Trail and this tour was by far the best experience. Captain Josh is a true native and his knowledge of the area really made this trip special. We saw manatees, see turtles, and countless shore birds. The highlight has to be when Josh got the dolphins to swim in the boat wake with us - worth the price of admission alone! My family created memories that will last a lifetime. If you want to see a very special part of Real Florida with a guide who really knows his stuff, then don't hesitate to book!

I agree with another reviewer, I would definitely give this experience more than five stars. Captain Josh was fantastic and knew the area well. We didn't realize this would be a private tour and were thrilled to spend the morning and early afternoon exploring the 1000+ islands with Captain Josh. The weather was absolutely perfect, the island we visited was beautiful, the dolphin show behind the boat was spectacular. It is an experience we will never forget and I highly recommend booking this type of tour. An airboat experience was just not what we wanted and how we wished to see the Everglades and beyond, so glad I found the wonderful reviews which led me to Native Tours. Thank you so much for making our time there a much richer experience.

Absolutely incredible! We went for our honeymoon and initially looked at airboat tours but decided we wanted to see wildlife and were afraid the roar of an airboat would scare everything away. We’re so glad we chose this tour. Captain Josh knows SO much about the history of the Everglades, the local area, the wildlife and where to find it. His family has lived there for many many generations (another reviewer said 9, but DNA tests & genealogy have since confirmed many more). He started driving a boat to school at age 12. He recognizes the different dolphins by their markings and can tell you about their history and personalities. You might think that’s BS coming from me but you’ll believe it when he tells you. He’s not an old man by any means but an old soul that takes you back to simpler times when people spent enough time in a place, often alone, that you knew it better than you knew yourself. We saw tons of fascinating birds and plenty of dolphins jumping in the wake behind the boat. He took us to a lesser known key deep in the Everglades that was empty except for a few fishermen camped at one end. We had an hour to walk the beach and had it all to ourselves. It was the perfect honeymoon tour but would be great for families, friends or solo. We plan to go again!

Our motorboat eco tour with Captain Josh was the absolute highlight of our trip to Florida.

We were staying in Sanibel but wanted to do a quick excursion to the Everglades and I was overwhelmed trying to figure out what kind of boat tour to book for our family of 5 (kids 3, 6, and 9. I was just about ready to book an airboat when I read a review that said the airboats are no good for spotting wildlife because the noise scares away the animals. So I decided to book a motorboat instead and I am SO glad that we did!

Captain Josh Fussell is- first and most importantly- a truly gentle soul and was so patient and kind with our three kids. But more than that, he's a absolute ENCYCLOPEDIA of knowledge about the local ecosystems. He's full of tidbits and tales and his love of this special part of the world is evident.

We spotted so many different kinds of birds, as well as sea turtles and a shark, but the highlight for our kids was the pod of dolphins that stayed with us for several minutes and played in our wake. They were jumping and flipping over literally inches from our boat. Amazing!

If you are going to be in the Everglades and only have time/money for one excursion, I strongly encourage you to book this tour with Captain Josh rather than the airboats.

We will be back for one of his fishing tours early next year and I can't wait!

This was the BEST tour in the Everglades. Book now or you will regret it. Capt Josh books up fast.
This 3 1/2 hour tour is very peaceful. He brings you all around the 10,000 Islands with a short stop at an island with tons of great shells. We saw quite a few birds, osprey nests, eagles nest with a fledgling in it and a pod of dolphins who performed tricks in the wake of our boat! Very fun to watch.

Capt Josh is very accommodating and was very informative on the tour. We really enjoyed this excursion.

Great tour with Captain Josh a few days back. Captain Josh is super knowledgeable about the environment and knows a lot about the different birds, the dolphins, and the other wildlife that we encountered. I could really tell that Captain Josh enjoys his work and enjoys these tours, as that he was super passionate and make it seem as if he did the whole tour without any effort. I loved it and we saw so much wildlife. We saw sea turtles, dolphins, huge pelicans, many different types of Hurons and many more interesting animals.

I 200% recommend this tour to anyone interested in wildlife and nature.

This was an amazing trip! We couldn’t ask for a better host than Captain Josh. He took his time explaining everything about the area we were in, answering any questions we had, and make sure he highlighted the things that interested us the most! Took us to a private island where he patiently waited while we explored. He was so nice as to even pick up some shells for me (he knew I was looking for some) along with some other artifacts as well. He is a wealth of knowledge, patient, nice and funny as well! Would definitely recommend this your for anyone in the area!!

Great and knowledgeable tour guide - super friendly and very kind to the small children from the other family on our excursion. He has lived his whole life in the area and knew so much - biology, history, geography. He took us to where the dolphins "played" with the boat, showed us where the bald eagles were nesting, told us what birds we were seeing etc. A memorable stop on a beautiful sand beach island. Highly recommend!

We went on a tour of 10000 Islands with Capt. Josh. Capt. Josh is a 6th generation FL native and has incredible knowledge of the Everglades, the wildlife and environment. We visited a Key which I am ashamed to say I do not remember the name, but ... it’s famous! We saw many different birds while on the tour, including massive white pelicans and ospreys in their nest. As others have mentioned, Josh has longtime dolphin friends who know him and his boat and who eagerly come to play in the boat’s wake. They will surf in the wake and show off and play for a long time. You will see many aspects of the Everglades while on this tour. Josh also knows a lot about the region as a native, and has a lot of knowledge of animals, the environment, and ecology, in addition to being a world traveler. This is far, far above a tour you would get from a big commercial boat. The area is wild and you are on a small boat and can go anywhere - very much worth the price and should be rated far above, #1 on Trip Advisor for Everglades City.

Having visited Florida many times, we have enjoyed a variety of experiences in the Everglades. This personally guided eco-tour was a novel and fascinating 3 1/2 hour tour of the northern end of the 10,000 islands separating the mainland from the Gulf of Mexico. Many guides in this area are seasonal employees who live elsewhere. We were thrilled to be guided by Josh, a sixth-generation native and life-long resident with an obvious love of the Everglades who was not only an exceptional guide but a storyteller who shared his culture and Florida history. Our boat was very clean and convenient for two to six people. Josh was personable, hospitable, and conscious of Covid safety policy.

We observed and learned about many types of birds, trees, plant life, sea shells, turtles, and dolphins. Josh understands and relates to the dolphins and was able, on several occasions, to lead them to the boat for aerial entertainment (for them and for us!).

This has been a good time to travel as tourism is slower and yet we were safe on the boat. We would certainly encourage others to take this tour.
