About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- thomassX8832WO0 contributionsWealth of KnowledgeThe exchange and tour were fantastic. The driver was a great help processing through the border and was very gracious with any stops I wanted to make. Additionally, the tour guide at the falls was a fountain of knowledge both on the falls and Zimbabwe as a whole. I learned so much more information than I would have on my own. If you have the chance, take this tour and don't look back. Every penny is worth it and I can't imagine a better experience.Written 5 December 2024
- SueH684060 contributionsA superb experienceThe trip was well organised and went very smoothly. When we wanted to add on the white water rafting and Devil's pool at Victoria Falls they re-shuffled everything so the timing went perfectly. They advised us on the little things such as visa details and what to wear and bring, especially for Wild camping. The wild camping was tailored to what we want and they went above and beyond. The chef cooked delicious food and they kept the place spotless. We saw so many animals up close in the Delta and Chobe. The river kayaks with hippos nearby were great. Hearing nature sounds was so relaxing. The Falls guides were all so good. White water rafting was exhilarating and Devil's Pool a fantastic experience.Written 19 November 2024
- Camper140242465360 contributionsWhat a way to see the best of Botswana and get up close with animals! As a solo woman this was a fantastic way to travel, as I joined an existing group of two for the camping part of it, then travelled solo onto Kasane (Chobi National Park) and Victoria Falls where I stayed in hotels. Maria tailored the trip to meet my requirements and was efficient and courteous in answering my questions. The highlight for me was the camping as it is the best way to get up close with animals, but you must be prepared to 'rough it' a bit - camp bed and en-suite long drop toilet and bush shower (with hot water) - but all comfortable. The elephants came to us one night - I looked out my tent window and all I could see was elephant. The guide was dedicated in seeking out the animals and the three camp staff were efficient and friendly. The first night I slept on a mattress in the open at the Makgadikgadi Salt Pans - wow, what stars. Then two nights camping at a mobile camp in the Okavango Delta, a night R&R in Maun, then three nights camping in Moremi Game Reserve. The number and variety of animals and birds sighted exceeded my expectations. My favourite sighting was the pride of three lionesses with their eight cubs.Written 14 October 2024
- 124mjr0 contributionsAmazing experience - what a safari should be!We spent a total of 5 nights/6 days doing an overland tour from Maun to Kasane and spent 3 nights in Moremi and 2 nights in Savute/Chobe. Our guide, Clifford, was extremely knowledgeable and able to identify all animals and birds easily, able to navigate the difficult roads, and able to do these while also looking for animal tracks and giving us a very informational tour. You can tell his knowledge and passion for the areas which was infectious. We saw tons of animals - lions on every single game drive, leopards, buffalo, and tons and tons of elephants, hippos, zebras, impala etc. Overall, we had a lot more time on game drives than I have experienced when staying in lodges and because of this had more time to see animals and to sit and observe them (like watching elephants do mud +dust baths!). The "camp team" was also excellent, the food was fantastic (thanks OG!) and I definitely did not expect hot showers in the bush so that was a wonderful surprise. Great staff and a great group we were paired with, felt like family by the end of the week!Written 23 September 2024
- amanda09680 contributionsVisit to the fallsAmazing place that should be visited if in this part of Africa. We had a guided tour of the falls, which was informative, walked from one end to the other stopping at each viewing point for photos and to admire the falls. Very clean, pathways in good condition, easy walking and wide enough for buggies/wheelchairs.Written 15 September 2024
- Sherpa380311903430 contributionsFantastic safari experienceWe had an absolutely wonderful safari with Kalahari Breeze starting in Victoria falls and then through Botswana. They helped us plan our dream trip, organisation was excellent and everything went very smoothly. The guides were all excellent, friendly and knowlegeable. The highlight for me was the wild camping experience in the Okovango delta. The night sleeping under the stars in the Makgadikgadi salt plans was amazing but marred by some organisational issues on the part of the lodge. All the other lodge experiences were great, very comfortable with great food. Thank you Kalahari Breeze! Highly recommended!Written 10 September 2024
- samanthak270 contributionsAmazing experience. We opted for a bespoke 6 day tour. We started at Maun and did 2 days wild camping in Moremi, two days in Khwai at a lodge and two days on a houseboat in Seronga. Maria from Kalahari Breeze was amazing. She was prompt with all correspondence and made some brilliant suggestions for our itinerary. The wild camping was amazing. A team prepared our food and our tents. We saw amazing wildlife, especially lions, and wonderful sunsets. Tsidi the driver and Ronnie the mechanic were awesome. For this part od the journey we were a group of 8. We then had two days at Moremi O Bona Lodge which was out of this world. Mocks our guide managed to track us leopards and wild dogs as well as the wonderful other sightings. The whole team here made us so welcomed and they cared for us well. From here we flew to Seronga where Cpt Sam and Jonah welcomed us and we tried mokuru, bird watching and fishing. And from there back to Maun. None of this would have been possible without Kalahari Breeze. They made our trip unforgettable.Written 7 September 2024
- OnAir322019323760 contributionsAmazingAmazing day, giraffes and elephants on the track in. Within 30minutes of reaching the park we were 2.5 metres away from a leopard keeping an eye on the antelope. Drove for another 20 minutes to see a massive herd of Zebra drove around the corner to a pride of 4 lions looking well feed relaxing under a tree once again amazingly close. Then went in search of the painted wild dog low and behold we found a pack of this endangered species once again with a very good viewing point of them relaxing in the shade. All in one day is pretty amazing.Written 3 September 2024
- steve k0 contributionsWhat Safari is all about! What a great experience. Communication was spot on and professional. Maria, the owner, is super pleasant and willing to help in any way. Let's start with the ride. My description might sound negative, but it is not. We found it to be one of the highlights of the trip. Probably 70 miles off grid on rugged bumpy roads. I think people would pay just for the experience. The Delta is an untouched oasis of what life has been like for thousands of years. "Raps" was our guide. Excellent choice. As a poler he is skilled and as a guide he is informative and speaks near perfect English. He has a great personality and sense of humor. Hippos, giraffe, various birds, impala, buffalo...all were present. The Bushwalk brought us within 20 feet of 6 giraffes feeding and a small group of zebra. The campsite epitomized what camping is all about. Tents were set up, liens provided plus some basic essentials. We were greeted warmly and offered a fresh wet towel to freshen. The site was positioned near a large watering hole so plenty of wildlife came into view. Baboons and several listed above were present. Master was our head guide and he is focused on providing you with the best experience seeing the animals. He did not disappoint. Lions, ostrich, Buffalo, wild dogs, hyenas, various birds, plus more. OG was the head chef and delivered great quality food throughout the day. All food is cooked on open flame and he makes the best bread. Cooked in the ground covered in coals this bread was legit. You must add this to your Africa safari plans. We WILL BE BACK!Written 31 August 2024
- bouche610 contributionsNeed to improve security and transparency on transit times and conditionsMy first such comment : We had a disappointing experience with this safari agency: most seriously, safety issues with no sat phone and a jeep breakdown due to lack of servicing in the middle of a hunt by a lion pride. No alternative jeep was sent and there was another breakdown the next day, with hours lost and finally a harrowing open jeep ride in dust for hours with no seat belts on rutted dusty roads like a desert roller coaster. V commercial, the company harshly demanded 300 dollars cash for unexplained bank charges, later dropped. Our trip program was sacrificed to suit the itinerary of priority clients who booked earlier, thus costing us 2/10 days viewing animals, along with other delays and lack of any transparency on transit times. Many other grievances, but we did get to see some animals despite an August drought. Guides were local drivers, not naturalists, and it was disorganised, ie not enough supplies, forgetting to load tea on jeep for game drive breaks. Cost was 500 a day per person for wild camping and mid range lodges plus travel. We had a lovely time anyway with fellow guests and meeting local people.Written 15 August 2024
- IanM57760 contributionsA breeze in BotswanaThe team at Kalahari Breeze Safaris helped us plan a superb itinerary with several rapid and responsive back-and-forth emails and we were very pleased with the result. Every arrangement went perfectly. The guides/drivers were wonderful friendly people who handed us over to local experts at various national parks and sites. The service at all the selected lodges or tenting camps was faultless. Of course the wildlife was the highlight and they didn’t disappoint. Each location has different highlights, and the recommendations of KBS turned out to be excellent.Written 27 July 2024
- fransm7620 contributionsGreat WildCamping experience with Kalahari Breeze in the DeltaWe had a wonderful private three-night WildCamping trip with Kalahari Breeze into the Okavango last month. The spot where we camped was in a concession area, and the wildlife was fantastic. Each morning and late afternoon, we went on drives and saw a plethora of general game, along with multiple elephant and buffalo sightings. In just a few days, we also had multiple lion sightings, saw wild dogs, and even witnessed a cheetah stalking and chasing impala. The pre-erected tents and beds were comfortable, and the hot water prepared for the showers on demand was a luxury we did not expect. Our main guide, Master, was friendly and helpful from the start. His knowledge and passion for guiding were evident, as he grew up in the area. We went on mokoro trips, which were a unique experience. Unfortunately, the water levels were lower than usual, so we couldn't go on long trips and had to turn back due to hippo and elephant activity in the main channel. We also went on two bush walks and encountered elephants and even a lion on one of the walks. The food served by the bush chef, Sam, was delicious. We were surprised by what he managed to prepare in his bush kitchen: fresh bread each evening, three-course meals, and brunch after morning activities. We highly recommend this WildCamping trip with Kalahari Breeze. Maria in the office was efficient and effective during all the booking interactions, ensuring everything went as planned and surpassing our expectations. Thanks to Maria, Master, Sam, Jerry, and Richard for hosting us in the bush.Written 14 July 2024
- S7158NAchrisr0 contributionsSuperb SafariAn amazing holiday organised by Maria. We were picked up from Maun Airport taken to a lodge just outside Maun, next morning Clifford picked us up and Chris checked we were ok, Camping in Moremi and Okvango Delta with Master was outstanding, the camp staff brilliant. We then returned to Maun where Chris and Maria came to see us. Then onto Chobe and Victoria Falls all organised by Maria with fantastic accommodation and activities. If you are thinking of a safari in Botswana then I would highly recommend you talk to Maria.Written 12 July 2024
- Jet4686980 contributionsGreat Botswana with Kalahari Breeeze SafarisGreat Botswana with Kalahari Breeze Safaris We have just returned from a wonderful holiday in Botswana. We booked the tour with Kalahari Breeze Safaris Agency in Maun Mrs Maria organized a wild camping trip in the Okavango Delta The camping site is wonderful; the ranger Mr Master proved to be very knowledgeable during the game drivers and we had the opportunity to see many animals in a fantastic environment to say the least. The experience with the small boat (mokoro) on the canals of the delta is unforgettable. The camp staff - Mr Machana, Mr Richard and the cook Mr Chicho organized our entire stay in the wild camping impeccably. Subsequently, Mrs Maria organized a two-day safari in the Chobe River Park. The game safaris led by Ranger Sam and the boat safari led by Ranger David will never be forgotten by all of us. In Kasane we stayed in a lodge that was not luxury but very clean, with a good menu and a wonderful garden. Thank you Mrs Maria..It was not just a holiday but a life experience Ezio + 6 iTALIAWritten 9 July 2024
- Nomad565310613170 contributions3 fantastic days in NG32We had a fantastic safari with Kalahari Breeze and are completely satisfied with our choice. Maria answered even the smallest questions thoroughly and promptly. Master is a very experienced, friendly guide and found all the animals we wanted to see: many lions, wild dogs, a leopard, hippos, elephants and many more. The food at the camp was outstanding. It's fascinating what can be conjured up in the middle of nowhere. There was always more than enough food. We also really liked the camp itself with its private outdoor “bathroom”. itinerary: Day 1: Drive to NG32, Mokoro ride, game drive to the camp; Day 2: morning and evening game drives; Day 3: morning game drive and return to Maun at 2 PM.Written 7 July 2024

An amazing experience. So peaceful being paddled through the delta, seeing an array of animals from a new perspective. Huge thanks to our guides Gerry and Vino, who I highly recommend - they managed to arrange a large herd of elephant to cross from island to island leisurely in front of our lunch spot (I joke, but they are almost that good)

Canoing through elephants in the water and consequently the guide teaching us about animal behaviors, area vegetation, history of the area and short walks to the dryland for wild animal viewing. The guide is very experienced, patient and made the canoe boat ride feel like a speed boat drive😊
Driving through the bushy area to the buffalo fence was fantastic with Michael’s guide.
It was quite hot for the day but Chris gave us travel tips in advance on what to wear to avoid sun burn in the area. His pre-event communication was second to none.
Would recommend this escapade activity to a million other people.

We very much enjoyed the Mokoro trip. Our guide - Junior - was excellent, very polite and informative. He should get promoted!
Just note that you will only see a small part of the Okavango Delta. The tour is 'just' a one-hour Mokoro drive (and one hour back) and a bush walk for about one hour. In comparison to this, the price is quite high and the transport of about four hours round trip long. If you can, try to stay in the delta for a few days. If you cannot, this is and the Moremi game drive are probably your only decent options. If you are unlucky and don't see many animals which sometimes happens, we suppose that this tour gets a bit boring. Also, insist on an English-speaking Mokoro guide or you will miss out on most of the information about the delta and its wildlife which happened to others on our tour.
Lastly, note that activities of this kind entail some risk. You will float close to Hippos in a Mokoro and will, therefore, be mostly unprotected from them. In our case, a hippo started running at us but luckily, the Mokoro drivers managed to make it turn away by screaming and hitting the water with their poles.

Hello Jannis,
Thank you for your feedback. It is much appreciated. Thank you for sharing your experience with Kalahari Breeze and the local villagers as your Mokoro polers.
As you said the daytrip is a nature experience and not a wildlife focused tour. It is a budget-friendly option to get a first glimps of what the Okavango Delta has to offer. This is why we clearly advertise it as a landscape / nature experience.
We are looking forward to welcoming you one day on one of our wildcamping tours into the Okavango Delta with gamedrives included so that we can show you the full beauty of the Okavango without the rush of getting back to town.
Thank you again for traveling with us.
Enjoy the remainder of your time in Botswana!

It was a really enjoyable, competitively priced trip into the Okavango. We saw hippos, giraffes and zebras, and before we even reached the national park, an impressive herd of maybe twenty elephants. The mokoro is great and adds something different to the day. It's also a way to support the local community. We did a walking safari and the packed lunch was generous. Bruce organised everything for the day and did an excellent job. Our mokoro driver and hike guide knew a lot about the animals and the bush. Good to join tour for solo travellers too. It's easy to recommend this tour.

Went on this Mokoro day trip to the Okavango Delta - everything was great, I recommend. Communication and booking via email and WhatsApp was easy. I was picked up from my hotel as discussed, the transfers and driver were very comfortable, the Mokoro guide was great and the bush walk was fabulous too. This year in April things are a bit dried than usual and water levels are lower but the team informed me about this before I left. I still had a good time!

Super relaxing and a great way to really be immersed in the Delta. We had previously done a game drive with Kalahari Breeze the day before and it was a delight using them again for this Mokoro trip. Everyone was on time, polite, and made sure we were well informed of what was happening that day. I appreciated that it never seemed like they were trying to rush us ( on this trip or on the game drive) and really wanted us to see and do as much as we could during our trip. Also, pretty much all the guides and polers are locals who are pretty ready to answer any questions you have about wildlife, local life in Maun or anything else they can. Lovely trip!

This was a great trip and included all transfers to the the mokoro station which also involved a fun speedboat there and a 4x4 jeep back. The day was very varied and the mokoro journey itself was very relaxing and peaceful and the local poler/guides were knowledgable. The views were beautiful and there was a variety of wildlife including many pretty birds and zebras. Lunch was prepared for us at a fairly basic camp but was tasty and the staff were very attentive. We were then taken on a bush walk to see zebras, elephants and reed buck which was a fun and different experience. Overall we would recommend this day trip but feel it is over priced for what it is. We also agree with the advice from the company that this trip should be accompanied with a game drive to Moremi to see a greater variety of wildlife.

Had a great trip on the mokoro with a local guide called Elijah arranged through Kalahari Breeze.
Great communication and planning from Chris and team to help us prepare (eg timings, what to bring etc). Was about 1 hour drive from the hotel to the village. At the village we were met by Elijah to go on the mokoro. On the way out (upstream) the mokoro ride was about 1.5 hours with a few hippo sightings along the way. It’s completely exposed so make sure bring sunscreen / long sleeves!
Once we arrived at the island we did a walking safari / hike for about 3 hours. It was quite long in the brutal heat but well worth it as Elijah was able to show us elephants, giraffe and wildebeest - all from afar but still much more than we were expecting.
We then had a quick lunch prepared by Chris and team and set off back to the village on the mokoro. The way back was quicker as downstream and just as well after a long day. We got back by about 3:30pm.
Overall a great day out and way to experience the Okavango delta. Highly recommend!

Very special and not to be missed experience in Okavango delta. Our poler was very informative, pointing and naming different birds and animals when noticing them. He would stop Mokoro and positioned it for better photo position.
But, it highly depends on the poler. Some other members from our group in other Mokoro canue were highly unsatisfied with their poler as it kept silent all the time.

I had a good time with Kalahari Breeze Safari. The Okavanga Delta Tour with the “more modern” Mokoros was a great day trip. The pickup was on time and all guides, we had different ones, were very nice. I also liked the split between pick-up in the morning as a game drive and drop-off in the afternoon as a boot tour. What you need to know, is that the part of the Okavango Delta is handled by a third-party. Unfortunately, as a customer you also receive the feeling that the tour divided. I wished, the communication and working relationship between both parties would have been better. Please, provide also some food for the guides. I felt very bad, that we as customers had lunch whereas these guides just brought water with them. (a toast sandwich should be affordable). I shared my lunch with them. Moreover I hardly received any information about the country and the delta. Either you train the local guys more on that, which would be nice, or maybe think about bringing another person on tour or provide more details during our way to or back from the delta.

Thank you very much for your feedback! It was our pleasure to host you on our Okavango mokoro tour.
Unfortunately as you mentioned the Okavango Delta mokoro guides are handled by a village Community Trust called The Okavango Kopano Mokoro Community Trust. (OKMCT). They supply us a guide on the day of the tour and it is their duty to well equip the guides with both training and equipment as well as to make sure the guides welfare is taken care off. We are still in consultation with OKMCT to be allowed to chose our guides or use are own trained guides but the argument is that it will rob the village community of their chance to earn a living through mokoro trips if we bring outside employees. We will endeavor to have our transfer guides be more informative on the tour during transfer to the Delta and also during transfer from the Delta.
Thank you again and we hope to host you again in the future!
