Interesting tour of the town and introduction to the Gaucho life. Great lunch too. I would have liked to see Gauchos roping some steers though...

Relaxing day at the Estancia!!
Feb 2020
Our guide Aime, was very informative and personable. My wife and I enjoyed being with our host family and had a fantastic BBQ parilladas lunch! The singing and dancing was nice. We even got to ride horses around the rancho property. Overall a great day in the Pampas!

The Real Argentina Experience.
Feb 2020
A great day out from hotel pickup,to comfortable transportation to the Pampas, a brief stop in the town culminating in a glorious day of fun, food and friends having a good time. Horse riding in the papas, beer and empanadas to follow, great entertainment from horsemanship to local singing and dancing and experiencing a wonderful Argentinian BBQ. If in Argentina this is a must do excursion.

Estancia visit
Mar 2020
A fun day overall at the estancia, despite a day of heavy rain with thunder and lightening all day. Unable to ride horses or see horsemanship skills of the gauchos for safety reasons. The lunch was a delicious Argentine bbq and the gauchos and dancers entertained us with music and folk dancing.

A Wonderful day on the ranch
Feb 2020
I was picked up at my hotel and greeted by our fun-loving Aime and several other guests from the UK and from Brazil. The day included some estancia museum time (lots of fine silver), the best empanadas I've had, a mild mannered horseback ride through their herd of angus cattle, a "home cooked parrilla dinner" and finally a fun cultural dance and music encouraging everyone to join in. Aime was a delight and filled our travel time with stories and conversation. She was also extraordinarily adept at switching between English and Portuguese.

Enjoyable trip
Mar 2020 • Solo
This was a long day, with some 4 hours of it bus travel.
The visit to the town on the way was of minor interest, my view was it was just a filler, although the silversmith was interesting. I would have liked an opportunity to browse for items to purchase.
The ranch was welcoming and very pretty. It is also a B&B so there were guests there, as well a several other tour groups, so there were a number of people around.
The trail ride was extremely sedate, fine for those with minimal or no experience, but I suspect disappointing for anyone who can ride.
Lunch was a seemingly endless supply of BBQ meat, beef, lamb and chicken, served over a couple of hours. Then there was an extremely short display of traditional dancing and one young Gaucho showing us how he can lay his horse down and lay on it.
This aspect of the day was disappointing. I had expected to be shown a display of Gaucho skills and horsemanship, but this was not the case.
Altogether it was an extremely expensive BBQ with a side serve of entertainment.

Highlight of my students' trip!
Mar 2020
This was an amazing experience! Our guide, Agustín, and driver were a bit late picking us up, but it was all smooth sailing from there. On the way, Agustín told us (2 adults, 9 high school students) about the difference between Buenos Aires city and province as well as general gaucho history. We stopped about halfway there-- it isn't a long drive, but the break was nice-- and had the opportunity to buy souvenirs at a leathergoods store. On the second half of the trip, Agustín showed us how to properly prepare mate and shared some with us. We stopped in San Antonio de Areco to see the church and the silversmith, then we went to the Estancia el Ombú for the main events. We went on a long, leisurely horseback ride, enjoyed a delicious asado, and were treated to a display of folk dancing, which included some audience participation. It was a slow-paced day, but it was in the students' top three list from everything we did in a week.

Amazing all day tour!
I did an all day tour to the Estancia (cattle ranch) with Gauchos (cowboys) about 75 miles northwest of Buenos Aries in San Antonio de Areco. The tour van picked me up at my hotel at 8:30 AM and dropped me back off at 6:30 PM. Enrique was the tour guide and he was so nice and knowledgeable. What a fun day!

There were only 6 of us on the tour. When we all get in the van, and after the guide explained the all day itinerary, he starts mixing up a cup of Mate (pronounced Mat-tay). It’s made from Yerba Mate herbs, mixed with hot water and they drink it from a metal straw out of a calabash gourd. It’s sort of like their coffee and I guess you would say their National drink. It was pretty good!

Our first stop was the quaint little town of San Antonio de Areco. We first stopped at a silversmith’s store (silver is real big around here since the Gauchos all wear it). The owner was a cool guy from Italy whose family emigrated here years ago. We then walked across the town square to the quaint little church called Parrochia San Antonio de Padua. The legend has it that the townspeople were being constantly attacked by an indigenous group of people and they prayed to the Saint named Antonio de Padua and said if he spared them, they would build a church in his honor. They were spared and they built the church in 1730.

After leaving the town, we drove further out into the country to the Estancia. They were waiting there for us with drinks (lots of Malbec!) and empanadas (pastry type turnover filled with beef and other savory ingredients). They were so yummy! They showed us the asado (barbecue) they were preparing over the parrilla (grill). While the meat was cooking, they took us out on a 30 minute horse back ride across the pasture. It was so beautiful and peaceful. I hadn’t been on a horse in a long time but it was fun.

When we got back from the ride, they had the food all ready. They started with a salad and then a bowl of boiled type potatoes with hard boiled eggs in them. Both were really good but of course the main show was all the MEAT!! Have you ever been to that place called Chima Steakhouse or any similar Brazilian type Rodizio. It’s where they keep bringing out all kinds of meat until you tell them to stop. That’s what this was. You had to be a carnivore to enjoy it and it was all delicious. They served Bratwursts, Blood Sausage, pork spare ribs, Vacio (flank steak), and Asado de Tira (short ribs). What a feast!

After the meal they played guitars and an accordion and sang traditional gaucho songs. After that, the gauchos showed off their horse riding skills and how they train the horses. One thing they all did was ride really fast toward this small ring hanging down from a post and tried to catch it with a small metal rod. It was really hard to do but they all eventually got it.

It was a great day and nice to get away from the big city and get to explore the countryside. I would highly recommend this tour to anyone.

Gaucho Day
Feb 2020 • Friends
Enjoyed our day on the pampas! Horseback riding, BarBQ, and folkloric entertainment all were wonderful. The highlight for us, however, was a demonstration of the trust relationship between a gaucho and his horse. Mesmerizing!!!

A Wonderful Day
I went on my own and really enjoyed this day out . It was interesting to stop at the little town and see the Silversmiths and the Church . Then it was on to the beautiful ranch . The horses were beautiful and well looked after and well trained . I opted for a carriage ride instead of the horse ride and it was fun . Others loved their ride . Lunch was a long relaxed affair under the shade of the trees . The entertainment was lovely particularly the horse whisperer . A wonderful day . A must do when in Buenos Aires.
