        Excellent All Day Tour!
This tour was excellent, exceeded all our expectations! Candy and Mabee were excellent tour guides! They made sure we were on schedule but yet see everything that was planned for the day. Candy is extremely knowledgeable and gave us so much history of each place and South Africa history in general. Some of the highlights of the trip was ferry ride to see the seals, visit to Ostrich farm, Camps Bay Beach, Cape Point Nature Reserve including lunch at one of the best seafood restaurant with an amazing view, and Boulders Beach to see the Penguins! Candy is also an excellent photographer and made sure we were able to capture memories! Thank you Candy and Mabee for the awesome experience!

Well organized, nice trip and perfect tour. Good timing with the stops, plenty of time to go out on your own, but never too long

An excellent day around the peninsula!!
This was an excellent day with some amazing highlights!! Doing all of this safely and as easily as a solo traveler would not have been possible so I was thrilled to have the wonderful Candy and Mabee as guides!! Candy was an OUTSTANDING photographer making sure we always got the BEST shots, and Mabee stayed with the vehicle so we always had a safe place to leave our things! They also both were a wealth of knowledge on the drives between stops teaching us SO much about Cape Town, the peninsula, and South Africa!! WHAT an incredible day!!! 🥳🇿🇦

This was a lovely day trip — it was great to see so much in just one day. Danny was our tour guide and was very knowledgeable and all-around great. Highly recommend this experience, especially if you have limited time in Cape Town.

        Great tour
We had a great day with Candy and Mabee. Well worth it. Lots of things to see and very informative. It's great that there isn't a large group and there is enough time at every stop but also not too much hanging around.

        Stunning and Peaceful Coastal Drive
The trip was lovely! Candy and Mabee, the driver, were very friendly, talkative, and made me feel comfortable and welcome. Candy was a terrific guide, offering knowledge and anecdotes. The tour provided all of the itinerary details promised, and I’m fortunate that I was able to find a good group tour to see the beautiful Cape views and travel places I otherwise wouldn’t have been able to.

        BEST EXPERIENCE!
We had an amazing experience with Candice and Mabi. They are both so friendly and fun, making our day the best of our trip! Candice has a wealth of knowledge and even stopped on the way back so we could see the whales. Mabi taught us about his culture and the Xhosa dialect. My friend and I will never forget this day!

Better with the tour than attempting to go on our own.
Excellent tour with Candy and Mabee. From the start, communication from Cape Archive Tours was perfect, with updates the day before about the time that we would be picked up from our hotel. They were punctual picking us up, despite us being one of the last few along the route of pickups. Lots of updates to tell us they were on the way etc. Candy and Mabee were both cheerful and warm characters which made the tour even more enjoyable. Candy was giving commentary throughout the whole day, which was pleasant to listen to and very educational. She was very professional and the commentary she was giving was clearly well researched with facts that we wouldn't have come across had we been trying to read up on our own. Mabee was our driver, but he also had his moments of commentary as well. Both of them were always proactively taking photos for us which is really helpful for us. Mabee was also always with the vehicle, which was helpful as we had a safe space to leave our belongings. The tour program was run so smoothly, with Candy giving clear instructions of the time available for each activity and where to meet afterwards. There were ample toilet stops along the way, along with a lovely coffee stop around 10am where you could get a drink and a bun. The optional cape of good hope hike can be a little exhausting. There are stairs to climb so anyone with bad knees may have to skip it, which is an option which the tour program provides. You will still see excellent views without doing the hike so that shouldn't be a deal breaker from not joining this tour. We were two 30 year olds from the city with less than moderate fitness and we completed the hike. We also saw people in their 50s complete the hike quite comfortably. Overall there is ample time for the activities on the itinerary, and it doesn't feel rushed. I ended the day happy that I had chosen to go with a day tour rather than attempt the journey on my own, because I felt that I saw and learnt so much more with them than I could possibly have accomplished on my own. I struggle to pick a highlight of the trip because it was all so good. So if I had to pick anything, it would be Mabee's lovely singing on the drive back home, which really lifted everybody's already-cheerful moods. Thank you Candy and Mabee!

Wonderful trip to Cape of Good Hope
We had a fantastic day long trip to the Cape of Good Hope with our guide Candy and driver Maybee. It was a packed day, filled with so many activities. Our favorite was the hike from the bottom of the Cape to the lighthouse up top. Beautiful views! Candy was such a good guide! She is knowledgeable, kind and so helpful. She had so much information to share and we learned so much about Cape Town. Plus she would always show us the best spot to take a photo and/or take the photos for us! Maybee our driver was wonderful. We felt very safe with him driving the entire day, and also looking after our belongings while we were out and about on an excursion. At one point, he sang us a beautiful song in his native language which was just really lovely. Thank you Candy and Maybee for the terrific, memorable day!

        Amazing tour! Thumbs up
Amazing tour, we visited to many places: the pinguins on boulders beach, camp vaya beach, the seals, chapmans peak, cape point national park (we got to see baboons, antílopes, dassie, ostreaches, etc), etc. But the timings was perfect with plenty of time to explore, take pictures and enjoy. Candy and Mabee, our tour guides, where so nice and fun all the time and even took photos of us at every cool spot. The tour was very well guided and lots of information but also lots of cultural explanations, songs and most importantly fun. Def I would recommend this tour.

Excellent road trip to Cape Agulhas. The best of penguins, wine, whales & the Southern most trip of Africa in one gorgeous day. Magnificent views of the Cape's breathtaking landscapes from the oceans to the wineries to the ranches. The stop through Hermanus is incredible as the whales come really close to the shore line. Our driver & guide Danson made sure our day was worth every single penny. I highly recommend this trip to everyone who has Cape Agulhas on their bucket list.

Excellent driver/guide - careful, very knowledgeable, flexible, helpful and cheerful.
Cabins overlooking the ocean(s), nice, pleasant design, well equipped, maybe at places a bit draughty, but heating system works well. Ah, but watch out for 2h-long rolling power outages.
      Peaceful place, great hikes.

Great long day full of local experiences. Cape Agulhas is a must experience when visiting the continent. The view from the windy lighthouse is great. As were the stops for penguins and whale watching. La Vierge winery had good service and good wine. Kevin was as good a guide as one could ask for.

This tour was phenomenal from the time I booked the experience until the guide returned me safely to my hotel. The tour company provided excellent communication leading up to the tour to confirm my departure time. Kevin, my tour guide, was perfect. He was kind, thoughtful, detailed, and an excellent driver.

This trip is long, and you will spend many hours in the car, but it was SO worth it, and I felt safe the entire time. I was able to witness the most beautiful sunrise on the drive out. Kevin allowed me to stop for coffee and a view of the bay. He handled the curves very well, as much of the drive is along the winding coast and through some mountains. Kevin also checked in to allow me to use the washroom when necessary. He shared a lot of history about the area with me as we were driving. He even pointed out the national flowers when we saw them and slowed down at times so I could observe the baboons hanging out along the side of the road.

Betty's bay was beautiful. The views were lovely, and there were some penguins there.

The winery (La Vierge) was excellent. I visited Stellenbosch the day before. What I appreciated about the winery on this tour was that it was small and family-owned. It was a great personal touch, and I enjoyed the selection of wines. The views from the patio were beautiful. I would definitely return to this winery.

Honestly, I could have spent the whole day in Hermanus! It was beautiful. I had the best Cape Malay Curry for lunch at Bientangs. I would suggest other visitors have lunch there. The service was excellent, the food was prepared quickly, and the views were out of this world. The whales were quite active on the day of my tour. Having lunch on the water and watching the whales was so lovely.

Next up was Cape Agulhas. It was so beautiful. The winds were powerful, so be sure to bring a jacket. It was nice to walk along the boardwalk, climb to the top of the lighthouse, and then finally stand at the point where the oceans meet. The experience there was both powerful and relaxing. I could have easily sat and watched the waves crash on the shore all day.

The drive back to Cape Town is a solid three hours. But again, Kevin did a great job, and we stopped for the washroom as needed. He always knew of safe and clean rest stops. The best part about the ride back was watching the sunset. The colors in the sky were beautiful. I mentioned to the guide how much I love sunsets, and he offered to stop so I could take a quick photo. This was very thoughtful.

Thank you to Cape Archives Tours and my guide, Kevin, for a trip I will never forget. I appreciate the level of thoughtfulness and care extended during my tour, especially since I was traveling as a solo traveler. Kevin was also a great photographer, which was nice so that I could capture my experience. I will definitely use you all again for future tours!

My husband and I have been to Cape Town a number of times and on this trip decided to do something different and opted for this tour. It was a very good tour with interesting stops and our tour guide, Kevin, was polite, knowledgeable and friendly and importantly a very safe driver! We enjoyed seeing the penguins and the winery we visited was absolutely lovely - a really nice stop in the day. The trip to Elim was interesting, though do note it's a very small place and we were just "lucky" that there was someone there to open the museum for us and give a little history otherwise there's very little to see/do here. Being at Cape Agulhas was wonderful - amazing views and scenery. My husband did climb to the top of the lighthouse, I opted not too as it's 4 sets of very steep wooden ladders which didn't appeal to me and the views from the ground were amazing in any event. Those are all the plus points and the tour was worth doing in terms of those locations however the guideline timings on the description are wildly inaccurate - or they were in our case anyway.

The tour description states a duration of 9-10 hours with a 40 minute stop at Betty's Bay, 40 minutes at a winery, 90 minutes at Hermanus (to have lunch), 30 minutes at Elim and 2 hours at Cape Agulhas so a total of more than 5 hours of stops as part of the trip. This was very far from our experience.

We left our hotel (AC Marriott near the V&A Waterfront) at 06.45 in the morning and returned at 18.15 so a total of 11.5 hours. Our stops were - 30 mins at Betty's Bay, 1 hour at the winery, a 15 min stop to get lunch at a supermarket (which we then ate while driving), 30 mins at Elim and 1 hour at Cape Agulhas and a 10 min stop at a fuel station on the way back to Cape Town to use the toilet/grab a snack so a total of 3 hours and 15 mins of stops from a total trip of 11.5 hours so a LOT of time spent driving. It was clear from when our driver picked us up and the things he was saying that the trip was going to be longer than the 9-10 hours (which we were OK with) but having a 15 minute supermarket trip to get a snack and eat while we were driving is a lot different to a nice stop in Hermanus for 90 mins - we didn't stop there at all. I don't see how it's possible to stop for the lengths of time stated in the description and do the trip in 9-10 hours. We drove back from Cape Agulhas direct to Cape Town which in itself is a journey time of almost 3 hours.

Overall we did still enjoy the trip but it was not, in our opinion, as described and had we insisted on stopping for a proper lunch somewhere then it would have been well over 12 hours. If we had done the more than 5 hours of stops noted in the description coupled with the journey length it would have been more like 13-14 hours. If that's the case then the description should make that clear. As regular visitors to the area it was not a disaster for us to miss out on a stop for lunch in Hermanus but had it been a first trip that would have been very disappointing.

Overall we did enjoy the tour and the places we stopped and would recommend those locations but more accuracy in the description would have been nice.

Dear Emma Thank you for taking your precious time to write us such a thoughtful and well detailed review about your experience with us on the Cape Agulhas Tour. Your comments are golden and immensely contributes to the arrangements and re-arrangements of our tours in a positive manner to suit all clients in the best way possible. We have taken note of the incorrect tour duration time and have made amendments accordingly. We also have called for a meeting with Kevin to get a full understanding why a lunch stop in Hermanus was not possible. The tour as it currently is, should allow for at least a 90-minute stop in Hermanus to have lunch or shopping. We apologize that this was not possible on the day of your tour. The Elim stop is also a quick photo stop on the tour that could last from 10 to 30 minutes if you are lucky to find some establishments open in this very quiet and authentic Moravian town. We have also added a note to make future guests well aware that the Cape Agulhas tour is quite a long drive but also authentic and less touristic for those looking for such a niche market. Thank you again for writing us a review and also for rating us on TripAdvisor. We look forward to your return!
