Lots of highlights on a lovely day.
Tania is brilliant, she tailored the day to exactly what we wanted and chatted to us the whole time.
Tip: Go down to Dias beach as we saw an otter come on to the beach, as you're looking at the ocean go as far too the left as you can and walk on a rock shelf - go as far as you can for a stunning view.

Hello David, thank you for your kind words and for taking the time to write this review. That sighting of the otter on your hike at Cape of Good Hope was so special. You really captured the moment. Enjoy the rest of your safari through Africa and hope to hear from you again when you get back home. Tania

Tania was amazing- she went above and beyond for my husband and I. We had the best time conversing with her and she knew so much about everything- truly! We felt as if we had known her all our lives and were with an old friend. We felt so relaxed while taking in the beauty of South Africa. Thank you Tania for an amazing experience!

Mark was an incredible tour guide. He is a nature conservationist and knew every flower, rock, animal and gorgeous view. He has lived his entire life in the area and his love and knowledge of both nature and culture was fantastic. Finally, he was very generous and intelligent person. Definitely, a highlight of my South Africa trip.

I traveled to South Africa with my 11 year Son, Phillip. This was a Bucket List for me and his first time overseas.

I was looking a tour guide that could appeal to my intellect and desire to learn everything about the Cape area but at same time was light hearted and could keep Phillip engaged.

I booked a two day private tour with Tanya and it was a great decision. Tanya was awesome!!! She knocked it out of the park. She’s both smart and entertaining.

She was able to balance thought provoking conversation about the area’s history and politics with fun facts about the geography and animals that my son absolutely loved.

The rate at which she casually switched gears between us was amazing. By the end of our two days together, the both of us had made a new friend.

Hope all is well Tanya. Tiff and Phil.

We were in Cape Town on vacation over the last week of May and contemplated renting a car but we knew the driver wouldn't be able to admire the amazing sights and views of the mountains all over the Cape fully if we did that. Moreover, there is always the nagging worry we would inadvertently drive into an undesirable neighbourhood, so we decided to go for a private tour instead.

Scoured the net for day tour companies in Cape Town and contacted Discovery Tours after reading all the excellent reviews online. We are so glad we did. Our email queries to them were responded to very promptly and our booking was confirmed in no time. We decided on the Cape Peninsular tour and the Winelands Tour.

Tania picked us up from our hotel in a very spacious Volkswagen MPV. As it was just the two of us and Tania driving, we had plenty of room in the vehicle. We had a lovely time chit-chatting and driving through the beautiful small towns around Cape Town on our way to the wineries. Tania is obviously very passionate about her job and she has a wealth of knowledge on the area. She pointed out the various plants/trees indigenous to the region, told us the names of various wildlife spotted along the way, recount histories of the towns and wineries we drove by and the prominent personalities that influenced the area - it was a smorgasbord of amazing bite-size information which made our trip so much more enjoyable.

Because we drank a lot in the morning and over lunch in the wineries, she suggested we go for a chocolate tasting instead after lunch. Fantastic idea as we ended up buying not an insignificant amount of chocolates from the chocolatier. We also stopped by Franschhoek briefly to stretch our legs and do a spot of souvenir shopping.

Besides the Winelands Tour we also used Discovery for a Cape Peninsular tour. Again, Tania was a wealth of information which made the whole trip so much more enriching. She also has a very sharp eye for spotting wildlife - we saw ostriches, elands, baboons, springboks, antelopes, guinea fowls, zebras and various birds of which names I can no longer remember. Everytime she exclaimed 'look!' it was a mad rush to ready the camera and point it at where she was pointing. She timed the Cape Peninsular tour expertly so we could catch the awe-inspiring view of the sunset over Hout Bay. Pictures of it on the net do not do the place justice, you have to be there (at that time of the day) to experience it.

It was a perfect two days we spent with Tania and we were almost sad when the tour came to an end. We became good friends over the short time we spent together. If you are ever in the Cape Town area and in need of a (customisable) private tour, you can do no wrong but to contact Discovery.

Like many others, we found Discovery Tours on Tripadvisor.com. We enjoy traveling and we always look to tripadvisor for ratings and reviews and Discovery Tours is consistently rated very high.

We’re lucky to have Tania as our guide although based on all the reviews, the other team members are equally commendable and highly rated.

The best thing about your own private tour is that you make your own schedule. Tania was very flexible with us. We’d made dinner reservation at La Colombe at 7pm and she suggested that we could delay the start of the tour for an hour so we wouldn’t have to wait around for the restaurant to open.

On the day of the tour, Tania picked us up at the hotel and during our conversation, we told her we were not able to make it to Table Mountain the previous day due to weather closure. So she said she would make a detour to Table Mountain so that we could at least get some pictures taken. Traffic was bad and even though we didn’t make it all the way up to the top of the mountain, we were able to get some magnificent vista at the cable car station and certainly, pictures for our memory book. A great start.

We visited all the places covering Simons Town, Cape Point, Cape of Good Hope, Hout Bay, Camps Bay, Clifton, etc. We saw baboons, ostriches and visited a penguin colony at Boulders. It was a full day. We also requested Tania to make a lunch reservation at Two Oceans Restaurant at Cape Point. The restaurant was very busy but the food was served quickly. If you go, the Hake and Chips is to die for, also Tania’s favorite. We also had the Signature Seafood Platter which is equally delicious. We still cannot stop talking about how delicious the meals were.

We also want to make sure we mention about how attentive Tania was. We causally mentioned we were interested in those wire-bead animals that were very popular in S. Africa. And while we’re visiting the penguin colony, Tania took the initiative to pick up 3 wire-bead animals for us from a street vendor who did excellent craft work. It was such a sweet gesture as the street vendor was gone when we finished at the penguin colony. In fact, she even tracked down the street vendor when we said we wanted to see the rest of his collections. Those wire-bead animals are the favorites of my daughters and grandkids. Now we wish we had gotten more.

At the end of our tour, Tania made an extra stop to visit the Constantia Uitsig Wine Estate before dropping us off at La Colombe for our sumptuous 5-course tasting menu dinner. She did it because she wanted to make sure we’re not too early for our dinner reservation. How is that for exceptional customer service!!

So yes, we cannot ask for a better tour company or tour guide. Tania is remarkable and she made it a very special day for us.

My 13 year old daughter and I used Discovery Tours (Tania) for a tour of the Cape Peninsula, based on favourable reviews on trip advisor. To clarify, this is more like a guided drive than a guided tour. Tania does not accompany you to each of your stops and as long as you are not expecting this, you will be very pleased. She is such a down to earth, lovely, kind woman, you cannot help but love her by the end of the day. Our day involved a stop at Kolk Bay, where we shopped a bit too long, a drive to Boulders Park to see the penguins then down to the peninsula. We ate lunch on our own there and met Tania about 4 pm for the return drive through Chapman's Pass I'm glad we asked about the famous sign because she decided to drive there for a picture which is when we saw ostriches right by the ocean! The drive back is stunning and Tania was more than happy to stop for photos along the way. Once back in Capetown, she learned we would not have time to go up Table Mountain so she drove us up and we enjoyed the panoramic view even though the venicular was already closed. It was a long but really enjoyable day and I truly felt like I made a new friend. Discovery Tours provides excellent value..

We arrived in Cape Town and stayed 5 nights in City Bowl Area at An African Villa. We wanted a tour of the Cape of Good Hope and Winelands but did not want the tour bus type excursion. They suggested Discovery Tours run by Husband and Wife duo Yaseen and Tania.
Our first private tour with Yaseen was for the sites around Cape Town then the drive up to Cape of Good Hope with several stops between. Having Yaseen as our guide proved very valuable. He introduced us to many different areas that we would have driven by in a tour bus or not known about if driving on our own. The highlight during our tour was spotting 4 Cape Point Zebra in the Cape of Good Hope National park. These species of Zebra are very hard to spot and rarely seen from the road so we had a nice bit of luck. We also saw Bontebok, Baboon, and Ostrich while making our way around this beautiful landscape. Yaseen also arranged a stop into Ocean View Township so we could distribute sporting equipment and clothing to this poor community. They were displaced from their homeland during Apartheid but never given their land back once Apartheid ended.
The following day we visited the Winelands with Tania from Discovery Tours. She is a wine aficionado so she was able to guide us to 5 boutique wineries in Stellenbosch and Franschhoek regions for some tastings and a nice lunch. Stunning views of the mountains and ocean from this area left us gazing at the beauty of this place all the while sipping nice wines.
After each personal tour, we felt like we had been old friends with Yaseen and Tania. They are very knowledgable and friendly and we would recommend a private tour with them when visiting Cape Town.

This tour operator can really be recommended. We booked two private tours with them, a tour of Cape Town and surroundings, and a wine tour. Communicating and booking was very easy. Both tours were well planned and interesting. Our guide, Mark, was very punctual and friendly, and provided very good information on nature and wildlife as well as on culture and life in South Africa. These private tours were really good value compared to ordinary bus tours.

Happy that you enjoyed your two private tours with Mark. Thank you for your review and for taking the time to write it. Hope you enjoyed our wine and beautiful scenery. Many people say that Cape Town is one of their favorite cities in the world. Would love to see you back here one day again soon. Best Wishes Tania & Yaseen

We toured with Tania and Yaseen for two days in August and could not recommend them more highly. They are both wonderful people and are so knowledgeable about Cape Town and the surrounding area.

Our first tour was the Cape Peninsula tour with Yaseen. Yaseen picked us up at our hotel and drove us to Simonstown, Boulders Beach, Cape Point, and back up the peninsula. We loved his stories, his restaurant and café recommendations, his enthusiasm for wildlife, and his occasional trivia questions. We saw so much incredible scenery and wildlife and were so impressed by how much Yaseen knew about seemingly everything.

The second tour we took was the Cape Winelands tour with Tania. This tour was completely different than the Cape Peninsula tour, and we’re so glad we decided to do both. Our expectations were completely exceeded: Tania could not have been nicer, and we absolutely loved everywhere that she took us. In addition to visiting several wine estates, Tania also took us to an olive oil tasting, a beer tasting, and a chocolate tasting. We stopped for lunch in Franschhoek, and at the restaurant that Tania recommended we had what turned out to be our favorite meal of the entire trip.

Tania and Yaseen were a big part of what made our trip to Cape Town so memorable. We hope to be back one day and would certainly take another tour with them!
