Using City sightseeing service for the wine tour has both positive and negative aspects. The bus collects you from the waterfront (or other locations) at 9 am which allows everyone to drink and enjoy the day in franchoek. there is also really interesting information on the bus on the way up to Franchoek. The disadvantage is that you don't have to full day in Franchoek as you would if you drove yourself. We managed 3 wine farms, but doing 4 is possible. I have done the wine tram independently in the past and we did 6 wine farms in one day, but stayed the night in franschoek. All in all I would say it was worth it that no one had to drive and we still had a fantastic time at the three wine farms

What a fun day! There is more vineyards and wine tasting opportunities than time will allow so read ahead and select your top choices. We started with wine tasting at 2 different vineyards, had lunch at a 3rd and returned to one for their gin tasting- which was also excellent.
We also enjoyed the company of several other couples we me through the day. It was a beautiful day and a well organized tour of the beautiful wine country.
You will pay for your wine sampling’s at each stop but it is still very affordable and a fun day.

What an awesome experience, this was recommended to us and we did not regret any moment of it, The City sightseeing bus driver was just and also the tram people were really excellent in their service lol they were so bubbly you’d swear they’re the ones drinking the wines. Didn’t get the tour guides’ names on both the tram and Franschoek bus but they were amazing, my partner really had a great time at all stops. Keep up the great work. We’ll definitely be back before the end of the year.

This was a lovely experience and very well organised. We got the red City SightSeeing bus from the water front to Franshhoek then hopped onto the Orange Route Tram(same as the purple but in the opposite direction).
You can stop off at each vineyard for either 35 minutes or 1 hr 10 mins. So it's up to you when you want to drink or eat. If you buy bottles of wine the tram staff will look after it until the end of the tour.
The vineyards are all beautifully scenic and as long as you don't drink too, much you will have some lovely photos!

I had a fantastic time on the Full-Day Franschhoek Wine Tram Tour from Cape Town. It's about an hour's drive away via the Red Sightseeing Tour Bus. From there you will take a mini train/train and have the option to hop on/off and visit up to 8 vineyards which are absolutely beautiful. Due to time we didn't have enough time to visit all 8 vineyards but visited 4 vineyards. At each stop, you are able to try many different wines for a few but the price is unbeatable. I highly recommend this tour and can't wait to go back.

Overall the tour was good but the tram in reality is 4 stops and 2km long so they take you in bus most of time. The winerys are nice, most cheap and very pleasant. My favourites were defo small ones! Thats my tip avoid the big ones. Most their grapes are not grown local as its too warm for the whites!

9am til 5.30pm- an action packed, very well organised and interesting trip to the various superb wineries in the Franschhoek wine region. Transport to the rail & road trams on a comfortable bus, then a timetable( strictly adhered to) to see 3 or 4 out of 8 excellent wineries, you choose( there isn’t really enough hours in the trip to do all 8!). We prebooked lunch at the Boschendal Estate which was absolutely superb. The farm shops are so interesting and there is lots to see if you don’t want to do wine tasting.
All of the guides on the transports are very helpful and helpful.
A very good way to see a beautiful area of South Africa without having to drive.

The best way to see the Winelands. The scenery. The experience was magnificent. I am definitely doing this again. And thank you to Mandla our tram guide. He is brilliant! Also, I really suggest using a shuttle as you will probably be singing all the way back to CPT😜

You can't beat the value. I like the idea that you pay as you taste, because everyone may not want to taste that many wines. I also loved that I could go at my own speed, but to take in the charm and uniqueness of each vineyard, you're going to require multiple trips.

What an amazing way to spend your day and the staff were so helpful and friendly.
Tram was a short trip and yes, you had to go by open bus to most of the farms, but still made it a memorable day. We chose the orange route, and only got to see 4 farms, which was more than enough.. Did not do wine tasting at all, was nice just to walk around the beautiful estates. We were concerned by the long wait at Babylonstoren for lunch at the Greenhouse so decided to stop rather at Noble Hill for lunch, which was so worth it. Beautiful setting, excellent Mexican inspired food, highly recommend stopping here.

You can catch an Uber to the V&A Waterfront or walk there as it’s not far from where you are, then the City Sight Seeing bus will take you to Franschoek. Just be sure to purchase the correct tickets (The ones that include transport to and from Franschoek).

Hi Guys!
I booked and paid for this tour in October - the date is for the 20th of December 2020. I booked for my husband and I and I can't find any tickets or bookings or anything but have proof of payment from My FNB account.
Can someone help me or track my booking? I paid through TripAdvisor.
Kind Regards

Hi how would you make reservations for lunch etc if you book with this tour? Would you be given the colour route beforehand and then plan from then? Are you also told how long to spend in each vineyard or do you just have a time to be back for?
