- Maia_mccc00Amazing day out exploring South Africa’s wine farmsGreat day out with Bruce. He gave us loads of insight into South Africa’s wine, as well as wine in general. This tour is fantastic for beginners as well as wine enthusiasts. You get to visit 4 different wine farms, all stunning and with their own unique attributes. Particularly enjoyed meeting Joey the Ostrich! Bruce is super friendly, accommodating and relaxed, with some great stories to share. We had a really great time (obviously, purchased way more wine than we had planned) and would 100% recommend the tour to all our friends who visit.
- hilstabb00Wow !!What a great day with a great guide. Bruce made the day, he is a super chap who felt more like a friend at the end of the day. It really is a full day experience . We visited 4 very different vineyards and had a pleasant lunch at La Pommier where we were able to have Bobotie which we love. I cannot speak highly enough of this tour. Let Bruce guide you and you will learn so much and not only about 🍷. Many, many thanks.
- Dawn C00African wine toursExcellent day and tour. We'll worth the money. Donovan was passionate about wine and his job. Very informative. Lots of wine to taste and a great lunch included. The scenery is stunning. Fab day and cannot recommend this tour enough.
- 980sunilb00Excellent guideWe booked a wine tour to Stellenbosch and the neighbouring wineries. Our tour guide was Theunis Minnie. Theunis was very knowledgeable about all kinds of wines and we thoroughly enjoyed the tour which included a lot of sampling of different kinds of wines. We highly recommend this tour and do ask for Theunis to be your guide.
- dek45201900AmazingGreat tour. Nick was such a great tour guide and the group on the tour were all great people. Lots of wine and excellent food. Highly enjoyable. Thanks
- 654bethr00Incredible Wine Country TourWe were picked up from our hotel at 8:15 am by our tour guide, Terry. He picked up a few others, totally 8 people, and off we went. The tour was amazing. Terry, using his microphone, told us many stories along the way to prepare us for our trip. He was simply fabulous. We went to 4 wineries and one place for lunch. Each place was unique and offered different types of wine. All in all we had 29, yes, 29 tastings. I highly recommend this tour and Terry as your tour driver. You can’t go wrong.
- azone9400Nothing to wine aboutGreat tour and very well organised. We visited 4 wineries in very different settings which all offered something different (red and white wine, brandy, sparkling wine, cheese and chocolate). Lunch was also included, which was delicious! Nick the guide was great and thankfully did all the driving. Fantastic value tour.
- 830jeaninew00Full-Day South African Wine TourI enjoyed the wines, learned a bit about the process of making them, and tasted them with a great group of strangers (who referred to each other as family by the end of the day)! Kudos to Nick for keeping us on task, and for choosing a delightful lunch spot (at Backsberg). The restaurant was accommodating to my celiac disease and food allergies, too, which was nice. Highy recommend!
- TDTrav00Good option if primary goal is having a DD for the dayGlad we took this tour because it saved us from having to choose which wineries to visit (so many options) and it also meant we could sample wines liberally without having to worry about driving. We visited four wineries, the most notable being Remhoogte (superb setting, great wine, and delightful on-site host who handled the tasting for our group) and Fairview (a popular touristy site but lovely setting and cheese pairings made for a better-than-average wine tasting experience). Included lunch stop was decent but unremarkable, although the country setting was lovely. The advertised chocolate pairing wasn't really that at all - the host simply puts a bowl of candy on the table - one piece per person. You won't actually learn much about the wine regions, wine making, or how to do a proper wine tasting on this tour as the guide is basically your driver (although a very pleasant one), but if your goal is to take the hassle out of choosing wineries and you want to avoid having to drive yourself (always a good idea when wine is involved), this tour is a decent option. Our group was small (10 in all), booking via email without having to pre-pay was nice, and pick-up/drop-off was prompt.
- SAMMYKO00Very good but too many tastings!Fantastic day with Bruce. He is an entertainer! Nice group of people. 4 wineries visited - cheese tastings (!), nice lunch, brandy with chocolate and ~24 wines tasted! A fraction too much. Otherwise quite a nice day out
- Sushi_Scott00Wonderful experienceI am so glad we took this wine tour. Our guide was fabulous and the wine was great. We went to Paarl, Franschoek and Stellenbosch. The drive was great and the group we traveled with was outstanding. By the end of the trip we were all Facebook buddies and many of us met for dinner that evening. The wine region is wonderfully picturesque. The scheduled tour departed at about 8-30 am and returned at about 5-30 pm, picking and dropping us at our hotel. The guide was charming. The winery choices excellent. Lunch was good and had vegetarian choices. You will not regret going!
- Michal R00Winery tripWe visited four wineries where we could taste different types of wine and cheeses. The guide gave us a lot of information about region and history as well as wine. Very nice trip worth the money.
- Tiptoptotty00Great day outThe process, from booking through to hotel pick up and drop off, was seamless. Nick was knowledgable, but didn’t bore us with facts, and was great fun. The booze was varied (rather than just wine) and the food pairings were really interesting. There probably wasn’t as much alcohol as some of the reviews suggested - but then I am an alcoholic! A great trip - I thoroughly recommend it.
- Fairfax00Quick & Easy Booking ProcessWe really enjoyed this wine tour. The booking process was extremely quick and easy and they were very responsive to my inquiries. The very clean van was there at 8:30, exactly when they said they'd be there. We toured 4 wineries plus stopped for lunch. It was nice to have Nick who was knowledgeable about the wine and the area. And we appreciated that someone else was driving while we drank the wine. Enjoyed meeting new people from Cyprus and the UK and we shared many laughs together.
- martinidoc00Plenty of wine to tasteWe were picked up from our hotel by Anton toward the end of the 08.30-09.00 allocated time. There were 3 others already on board. We then had to detour a bit to pick up the last guest. Eventually we started out of the city toward Stellenbosch. All was going well until we reached some traffic lights not far from SB When traffic came to a complete standstill. Eventually after about 20mins Anton decided to take a detour. Eventually we arrived at our first tasting. Anton was very polite and courteous. We did not get any detailed analysis of the grape types or terroir. In reality the range of grapes used here seems so vast, it would be difficult to cover. We visited 4 wineries in total, plus one place for lunch. There were one or two decent wines, but generally there was nothing outstanding. It was an enjoyable day however despite the long traffic delays.

This tour, through African Story Tours, was a good way to visit a variety of wineries and sample some local wines. Lunch was included, which kept the group together, and because the tour guide had advised the restaurant ahead of our arrival they were prepared and able to accommodate us without any delay.
The final stop of the day was at a winery which is also known for its cheeses and meats, so we were able to purchase the makings of a charcuterie tray that served as two suppers for us.
The guide was knowledgeable about the area, and the vineyards visited. He generally let the establishment’s staff take over for the tastings. He was able to fill in the broader local knowledge and history of the areas as we passed between stops.
Unfortunately, there were 12 people on this tour but the vehicle would have better suited for six or eight. We were the second-last pick-up point (meaning the van arrived 40 minutes after we were told it would) and we ended up crammed into in the very back row where our knees dug deeply into the seats in front of us and the only air-conditioning vent was broken. This considerable discomfort detracted from the tour and the bruises lasted several days.

We loved our tour with our very capable guide to the Western Cape wineland. We appretiated that the wineries were very different: from the very historic Muriatie, the young familyrun Remhoogte, Backsburg with the nice gardens and wonderful lunch and brandy tasting, and at the end Fairview with the cheese along with the wine. All the places have developed so much since our last visit.
Some someliers like at Fairview must take care not to speek too fast, as we foreign people cannot understand anything, and its seems they are just waiting to get the while show over with.

Absolutely stellar day out today with African Story and our lovely host Thianius (sorry if I misspelt your name!).
We were picked up from our Airbnb as were other guests and went to four wineries over the course of a full day. Lunch was included at the second place as was wine tasting with different things like lemon and chocolate so you can appreciate the different impacts of food on the flavour of the wine. The final winery also had a cheese tasting. In total 18 wines and 3 ports/dessert wines over about 8 hours, generous pours but not too much.
We enjoyed all of the locations but particularly the first (Muratie) with a brilliant and very funny host Tino who really did justice to the centuries of history of the winery, and Fairview the last with the cheese - and long horned goats! The wineries change from time to time but we enjoyed all four of ours and the delicious lunch.
It was a small group - 9 of us all together - and Thianius did a brilliant and unobtrusive job of helping people to connect and enjoy the day together. We had two honeymooning couples, a pair of friends and us a group of three and by the end of the day felt like we got to know everyone and really enjoyed the experience. If you’re not so interactive there is also plenty of time and space to do things away.
The pace was perfect. It was also very nice to meet Bruce at the second winery hosting another tour.
Amazing day out, if you’d like to do a Cape wine tour you couldn’t pick a nicer company. Thank you African Story!

A good day out, it was a bit rushed in places. Not helped by delays at the beginning when we had to wait for late bookers ! Visited 3 wine tastings - 2 very good and 1 "put up with us". Brief visit to the prison entrance where Nelson M. was released from was good.
Beware of the service times in Franschhoek - took us 45 minutes to get a sandwich.

We were 3 mature rugby supporters on our first visit to Cape Town.
Our tour driver and guide was Williem, who said that we should call him Prince William but during the tour, he became known as Prince Willy. Right from the start he made the day great. He told us about what to expect and shared lots of information about sights and places along the way. It was a small tour group with 8 people. The other people on the tour were 2 American couples, 1 were on their honeymoon and a gentleman from Johannesburg.
We stopped at 4 vineyards, and it would be impossible to say which was our favourite as they were all different in size and style. We were offered a selection of both red and white wines. Lunch was included in the tour and we took lunch at the third vineyard, Everyone on our tour agreed the food was very good.
We got to experience wine parings with different types of cheese, chocolate and even lemons! There was even a walk to see Jimmy and Jonny the ostriches. We were so lucky to be with an amazing group of people and by the end we were all great friends.
The fact that we all got on so well really added to the enjoyment of the whole trip. Prince Willy went out of his way to ensure that all the guests were accommodated with wine preferences. The experience was amazing, the scenery, it was breath taking, and the guides and staff at the wineries were so informative. The people on the tour also made it outstanding and fantastic day. Thank you very much Prince Willy from 3 Welsh men.

We have done wine tours in several countries and this was one of the best. Often these tours leave you feeling like the wineries and the tour were less than generous with their wine and their time. This was quite the opposite. If anything, you should pace yourself because there is so much wine, each winery was extremely welcoming and it was a very full day. We weren’t very familiar with South African wines and this was a great way to become more knowledgeable. Most of all, our guide Bruce was fantastic!

Really happy I chose this tour. It's an all day affair, but well worth it. We visited 4 unique wineries, got to meet some of the winemakers and learn about wine making in the region. There is no pressure to buy wine from any of the wineries which is nice.
Our guide (his name escapes me) was very nice and he enjoyed sharing his knowledge about South African wines with us. We had a great group of people from all around the world which is always nice.

We literally cannot recommend this experience (and Bruce!) enough. Bruce was able to tailor each tasting to our palette and it's not often that you get to experience a tasting guided by someone on a first name basis with the owner/vintner. Bruce was a fantastic tour guide, whose genuine passion for wine made for an amazing tour experience.
Book this tour - it'll be worth it for an authentic South African wine experience.

A friend and I went on the Capelands Wine tour with Bruce. I have to admit that I am not a big “tour” person but this was phenomenal. Bruce picked us up right in time and we immediately all hit it off. He was so knowledgeable and fun. We visited some great vineyards but probably our favorite (and your must do) was Fairview with that team…especially Rita.
You can spend days there and probably not experience every winery. There are so many options to pick from.
I highly recommend Bruce and African Story and can’t wait to come back to immerse myself more in all of the Capeland Wine area offerings.
Thanks again Bruce for a wonderful day!
