My husband and I had such a great experience with Dave and Mike. First of all, we were picked up at our Airbnb with a Land Rover - how lovely is that? My husband and I were the only one in the passenger seats. We were given a very much “private tour”. It was also Mike’s birthday. Both gentlemen were so nice to us, gave us gifts, and we had a lovely drive to and from Aquila Game Reserve and Spa. The views in N1 road were just amazing. Both Dave and Mike made sure we were okay all the way. We arrived at Aquila a few minutes before lunchtime and we had lunch before the restaurant started to get too crowed. Also, we had time to take pictures around the Aquila and we got front seats in the bus for the game drive. We definitely got special attention and it was really nice. We took amazing pictures during the game drive as well. For a first time doing a safari, it was perfect.
If you ever in Cape Town and would like to book a guided tour, I will definitely recommend booking with this company. They are excellent at what they do.

My husband and I had such a great experience that we booked a winery tour guided with them. If you are into wine or would like to experience something different, book a winery tour with Mike. South African wine is really good. Customer service is on point. Mike is such a nice person and so knowledgeable. Mike took us to the best spots and I was really happy. I took so much pictures and shorts videos. Very memorable. First he picked us up in a Mercedes - Okay!!! Then he took us to the Brasserie for breakfast and it was so good. The cafe was very different in design, and the coffee/food were really good. Then we visited few wine estates and we had a nice lunch at one of the wine estate. Our tour was very lay back, which made it very enjoyable and we had great conversations as well.

WORTH THE MONEY! What you pay for during this trip is far more than just a "luxury transport". From the moment that our guide, Mike, picked us up from the hotel, I knew that we were in for an incredible experience. Realistically, Mike could have driven us the 2.5 hours to the Safari, but instead he was a historian of Cape Town who told us everything we could possibly need to know about the city and the surrounding areas. Mike even took us on a pit stop half way to show us some of the country side! Once we got to the Safari, Mike walked us through to the registration area, got us settled in and had us meet him outside before the Safari. I thought, why is Mike having us meet him outside?? Well, it's because he ensured we were the first ones in line for the tour and we got the best seats, which was true!! After on the way back, Mike took us down a scenic route down the hill for a beautiful sunset over the city. He answered my 120 questions about the landscape, history and rock formations.

My serious regret in this whole thing, is that I had zero cash on me to tip him after he dropped us off. What you're paying for is not just a transport vehicle, it's much more than that. I would recommend this service to anyone, especially if they were able to schedule Mike as a tour guide.

Thank you.

My driver Michael made this trip absolutely fabulously memorable. He is an outstanding and proud local with incredible knowledge of South African history. He knows his stuff. He was very early for the pickup…another positive!!!

He literally looked after even the smallest detail such as finding a great place for me to find beef jerky…yay!!!

The safari was good. A basic intro to the big five. Very controlled environment but I knew that going in. Michael took the whole tour to a fantastically memorable level.

Thank you, Michael!

We had an incredible time at the Safari. Our guide, Mike, picked us up from the hotel and immediately gave us some chocolates as he wanted us to start the day with something sweet. Throughout the 2 hour journey, he provided us with an amazing history of Cape town, pointed to some vineyards on the way and kept us entertained with his facts and knowledge. Before arrival, he provided us with a debriefing on what will happen on arrival and ensured we got a good spot on the Safari jeep itself.

The Safari was amazing and we had a lot of fun. I would recommend it to anyone. We saw lions, ostriches, antelopes, hippopotamuses, White rhinos, gazelles, zebras, giraffes and elephants. Leopards were not seen as they're quite rare to see.

On our way back, Mike was happy with us taking a snooze and then coming into Cape town, showed us some nice restaurants on Bree street. Overall would 100% recommend to everyone.

We had a great day from when we was picked up by James from our guest house in Franschhoek to our return! James was very pleasant and more than happy to share his excellent knowledge and tips. The day safari was a great taster to the ‘real thing’ and could not fault Aquila. The booking process was easy with no issues and would highly recommend using Born in Africa and James was a perfect guide for the day.

This review will be two-fold; The first will be on the driver from the tour company and the second will be about the safari itself.

1. Mike was my private chauffeur to the Aquila Private Game Reserve. He arrived early and greeted me warmly. Throughout the drive to and from the reserve, he provided bits of knowledge that I enjoyed. He also acted as a guide, and for someone who was very new to all this, it was very much appreciated.

2. As I mentioned, this was my first time going on a safari so I didn’t have any experiences to lean on. I think this was a good first trip though. I had lunch and was assigned to a smaller, more private vehicle as there were much bigger groups going out that day too. The WiFi in the main building worked very well. As for the safari itself, the tour guide was very good and I managed to see four of the big five.

We were picked up by our tourguide Mike at our apartment. On the approximately 2-hour drive to the lodge, he explained everything about the origins of Cape Town, the wine-growing region, the vegetation, etc. The time to the reserve passed quickly. When we arrived we were able to relax briefly at the pool, then we had a fantastic, rich lunch. then we went on the safari. The safari was great for us as beginners. We saw hippos, buffalos, zebras, elephants, giraffes, Antelopes, ostrichs. It was a great experience. On the return trip, Mike drove us safely over the mountains back to Cape Town. Definitely a recommendation thanks to tour guide Mike!

Long drive but Mike, our driver and guide, was very informative on the journey through the beautiful landscape. On reaching Aquila he was extremely helpful and attentive, then again on the return journey he took great care of us. A tiring day but well worth it.

I was traveling with my two young sons. Dave, the owner of Born in Africa and also our guide on this trip, helped us get the most from the tour. We enjoyed our conversation during the comfortable drive to Aquila. For a modest additional cost he arranged for us a private jeep, an option I didn't know about and which hugely improved the experience. The safari experience itself is amazing, you are basically guaranteed to see all of the animals mentioned. Next time I come to Cape Town I will use the services of Born in Africa for all tours.

We didn’t have time in our schedule for a full Safari so opted for this one.
We were picked up in a very comfortable & fully air conditioned car which made the 2 hour journey to the safari park fly by. The driver Chris was very knowledgeable & informative, he told us loads of things about the area as we passed through.
Upon arrival at Aquila game reserve we were treated to a glass of bubbly & a wonderful buffet lunch before embarking upon our Safari trip. On the trip itself (around 2.5 hours) we saw Elands, Ostriches, Springboks, Gnus & other animals from a distance but near enough to take photos. We were however, very lucky to get really close to the Hippos, Giraffes, Rhinos & Elephants. The highlight was getting within touching distance of the lions, who were thankfully sleepy & appeared non plussed by our presence. The only animal we didn’t see was the nocturnal leopard.
All In all a great day, although a little expensive. Another highlight on our trip to South Africa
