About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- amandih0 contributionsIncredible experienceI was skeptical about going on this tour as one of the ladies working at Aquila V&A were extremely rude. But our tour guide Werner Klopper made our experience feel 1000 times better. He was very knowledgeable, and patient with us. He made sure we got to the game reserve on time for our yummy lunch and that we got on our safari vehicle on time with a good spot near the front! He was also very knowledgeable about the history about South Africa and gave us very interesting facts! I got cold during the safari so he also let me borrow one of his jackets to ensure I was warm. An incredible tour guide and 100% recommend him!!! Acquila itself was very beautiful and one of the best experiences. Although it was very cold and spitting, we still had a great time. Got to see so many beautiful animals in their natural habit and got up so close to the big cats! Must visit when in Cape Town 😍😊Written 30 September 2024
- Pattarin L0 contributionsGreat day in the WinelandsI had a great time at the Winelands. My guide Mike was flexible and spontaneous - we went out on Sunday and not all places were opened, but we still hit many great places. At the end we hit 5 different vineyards. Since it’s a private tour there’s no itinerary. I did not pace myself with wine and food, and ended up forgot to have lunch. So I’d recommend to plan properly for lunch and explore wine and cheese pairings, or chocolate pairings.Written 11 September 2024
- valeriebP2392FW0 contributionsWonderful tour and guide.Awesome. Werner was my guide and he is knowledgeably, funny, and very accommodating. Aquila is beautiful. Quick wine tasting stop was also wonderful.Written 6 September 2024
- U8394MJlouiseg0 contributionsA comprehensive whale watching experienceWe took my parents and family on the whale watching experience and it was better than expected. The staff were very caring and helpful to assist the elderly people and the young baby. The sightings were incredible and we saw dappled whale calves. The conservationist on board gave so much information while at sea which made the trip so immersive. At the end the company gave all some soup on land. This was definitely the best whale watching experience I have been on. Thanks again to the staff.Written 2 September 2024
- 697manjeetr0 contributionsExceptional Experience with Born in Africa Tours and tour guide Werner KlopperOur recent trip to South Africa was made unforgettable thanks to Born in Africa Tours and our outstanding guide, Werner Klopper. Initially, we had only booked the Big Five Safari, but Werner's remarkable dedication and passion for his job prompted us to extend our tour to the Peninsula with him the very next day. From the get-go, Werner impressed us with his attention to detail and genuine care for our experience. He ensured that we were properly registered for the safari and secured great seats on the bus. Despite the cold and rainy weather, Werner went above and beyond to keep us comfortable. He provided ponchos to protect us from the rain and even gave my wife his own jacket when it became too chilly. Werner's thoughtfulness extended beyond just the safari. He surprised us by purchasing two umbrellas and gave them to us for the day, ensuring we were well-prepared for the weather. Werner’s enthusiasm and commitment to his role as a tour guide were evident throughout our time with him. His efforts made a significant difference in our enjoyment of the trip. If you’re planning a tour in South Africa, I highly recommend choosing Born in Africa Tours and, if possible, requesting Werner as your guide. He truly made our South African adventure exceptional.Written 2 September 2024
- johndN9472LP0 contributionsFantastic First South Africa ExperienceThis tour started with a wonderful wine tasting at Du Toilskloof winery, then on to a scrumptious buffet lunch at Aquila reserve, followed by a fabulous three hour safari featuring some of Africa’s most magnificent wildlife. Our host and driver, Chris, kept us comfortable and well entertained with interesting facts and anecdotes throughout the journey. A great day indeed!Written 25 August 2024
- SHermes0 contributionsA journey with many highlightsOur dedicated guide enhanced the outward and return journey with spectacular stops. Our gin tasting was a highlight of the day.Written 24 August 2024
- Tiffany K0 contributionsGreat company and a great safari!Werner took me and 2 others on a tour to Aquila. From the instant I met Werner I felt completely at ease, and it was clear he was passionate and knowledgeable about Cape Town and its history. Not only did we make it to Aquila where we had great weather and saw four out of the Big 5, but we got a delicious wine tasting on the way and squeezed in some shopping on the way back. I had such a great time that I asked Werner to take me on a private wine tour later that week. Thanks so much for a wonderful time!Written 23 August 2024
- Thomas M0 contributionsAmazing guides! My guide Werner was incredibly knowledgeable and displayed excellent service! Werner was without doubt the perfect guide and made a truly stunning tour even more outstanding!Written 1 August 2024

- Guide429442113930 contributionsBook this - ask for Mike!Mike is the man!! We had a fabulous day with him. He was extremely informative and went out of his way to ensure we got the most out of the experience. He made recommendations for the rest of our trip, and set us up for success. We would highly recommend this tour if your time is limited for safari. We saw so many animals and felt that we got a true experience, despite not having the time for an overnight trip somewhere.Written 27 June 2024

- tbolol0 contributionsAmazing AquilaAquila safari experience is amazing with Born in Africa Co and also tour guide Mike. They’ve planned everything perfectly from beginning to end. It was very nice to see 5 African bigs just in their natural plant. Journey was so comfortable and also lunch was perfect. Guide Mike made journey really funny and interesting for us by informing us about what we wanna know. He’s so kind and hospitable. Thanks for great experience.Written 19 June 2024
- fatimaaP4332MA0 contributionsGreat Big 5 SafariWerner was an absolute delight as our tour guide. He was kind, educated, and provided us with a wealth of information about Cape Town, along with excellent recommendations. Werner made frequent stops for photos and ensured our comfort throughout the long drive to Aquila Reserve. His warm demeanor and engaging conversation made the journey enjoyable. He also made sure we had enough breaks for washroom stops and coffee. Upon reaching Aquila Reserve, Werner suggested a private safari, which was a fantastic recommendation. He also recommended Trevor as our safari driver, who was funny and ensured we saw almost all the Big 5 animals. I highly recommend Werner for any tour in Cape Town. His passion for guiding shines through, and his background as a retired professor adds depth to the experience.Written 17 June 2024

This tour was one of my favorite parts of my week in South Africa. Mike was our tour guide, and he was AMAZING! He is a native South African and an official tour guide who knows his stuff. All day he kept us entertained and taught us things as we drove up and down the peninsula. The private tour was intimate and comfortable, and Mike was able to customize the experience to fit our needs and desires in a way that one of the larger tours could not. And he was a great photographer for us as well. Mike and others at the company communicated well before the trip, and Mike was punctual, accommodating, a safe driver, and everything else you would hope for in a driver. I cannot recommend this company and Mike specifically any more highly.

We had a fantastic day with Dave and Ian on this tour. The scenery was spectacular. Ian was very knowledgeable and gave us a brief history on each of the places we visited. A big thank you to Dave and Ian for arranging a visit for us to the Franschhoek Motor Museum the next day.
The next day we did the Winelands tour with Mike. He had to do the tour in reverse due to certain events which were happening that day. We started the day at Babylonstoren which I had requested to visit then Mike took us to the motor museum. We then had a wonderful day visiting different wineries with beautiful scenery. We really enjoyed both these tours and would highly recommend booking with Born In Africa Tours to everyone.

We had a perfect day with tour guide Mike. He showed throughout the day that his only goals were to keep us safe and make us happy. He arrived on time, drove well, seemed to know everything about everything, showed us beautiful places, and didn’t rush us at all. I wouldn’t hesitate to book any tour with him in the future.

Our party of 6 adults had a great day with our guide, Mike. He modified the tour to account for a rainy start (cool coffee bar!) and by the end of the day we missed not a thing. Ostrich farm, penguins, Cape Point, vineyards, magnificent vistas, great lunch. As a local Mike was able to share area history and personal experiences from Cape Town. The day is long so be prepared, but hard to imagine a better way to pack in so much.

Chris took us on a wonderful all day trip around the Cape Peninsular. Starting in Hout Bay with a boat trip to see seals, to the Peninsular to see baboons, beautiful flowers and stunning views. Then on to watch fishermen returning from fishing to a wonderful lunch and a view of a movie set and the cannon above Simonstown. A wonderful day with a great guide!

Our tour with Born in Africa Tours was great. Our guide Chris Taylor picked us up on time from our hotel and we went off on a interesting and beautiful tour.
We saw the penguins at Boulder Beach first and stayed as long as we wanted. No pressure to leave, Although I could have stayed there for hours!
We then drove down to Cape Point and saw the Cape of Good Hope and the lighthouse at the Point. Chris was full of interesting details and made our visit thoroughly enjoyable! There were many baboons all over the place!
We continued on to the Groot Constantia winery where we enjoyed a great lunch and wine tasting.
Thanks Chris for a really great time !

This was a wonderful private tour of the Cape. We had a car to ourselves and we’re able to adapt the plans for the day together with our guide. A great day to witness breathtaking views, nature and local restaurants. Again, we were only women together and felt very safe!

A Top Class Private Guided Trip with David Coxford, from the beginning to the very end, punctuated by a delicious lunch! This tour delivered exactly what we wanted and more, collected at our hotel we were whisked away to a journey which included Clifton and Camps Bay, Hout Bay, Chapmans Peak Drive, Misty Cliffs, Cape Point, Simons Town and the Penguin colony. David's knowledge and experience of the local area was second to none and it was a delight listening to a man with so much passion and enthusiasm for his chosen occupation. I cannot recommend David more highly and consider this one of the best value trips we have ever done.....anywhere!!!

Dave, our guide, was a pleasant surprise to find!! He is so personable and knowledgeable about the area! And he is a joy to spend the day with!! You must request him!!
Dave picked us up at the hotel and began our trip down the coastal route of the peninsula. He stopped at personalized places based upon our conversation, like a little biltong store (which we bought one-of-everything in!!) and a beautiful private beach! We found wild ostrich, took pictures with seals, and were serenaded by a local festival group! We had a beautiful lunch in a seaside marina, and visited with penguins and their babies! —with ice cream to finish!!
Young children would enjoy this trip, as will the old! It was a delightful way to get oriented to the area with a delightful host! Dave will be first on my list when we return!!
