Food Service Wild Nature!
Great food, service, Guide and animals. When we arrived, Covid screen was quick and efficient. Next very friendly host/hostess served us a nice cold goblet of Sparking Wine. After a fabulous buffet lunch, we loaded the safari truck and a wonderful educational guide toured us through the preserve. We saw big 4 plus hippos, including lions very close up.

Very Cool
Oct 2019 • Couples
We had a family suite which was very nice. Though it was cold when we went & unless you wanted to brave the outdoor shower your only other option we to have a bath, which we felt bad about due to water shortages.

We got to see loads of animals and they provided you with loads of blankets to stay warm in the trucks. The animals were absolutely amazing.

The food was also great, my partner was pregnant but everything looked so fresh and tasted amazing with loads of choice.

The only thing I would say is that there wasn’t really a ‘waiting’ area once you had to book out of your accomodation but wait for the transport back. The bar area wasn’t open at the time we were there, but I guess this would be the best option.

Safari tour was amazing
Dec 2019
Aquila was well worth the money and the time to get there. The food was great, and the hospitality was amazing. The tour guide was knowledgeable and kept the safari interesting and a great learning experience. I highly recommend going.
The tour guide that we paid to get to the safari and take us to the wine tasting afterwards was horrible. He barely said two words to me, spoke exclusively to my husband and made derogatory comments about women. He also shared his drug experiences on our return drive. I had a miserable drive and would never use this group again.

Dear Valued Customer Thank you for your valued review shared. We are pleased that you enjoyed the safari experience and time spent at the Game Reserve. We would like to apologize for your experience upon your return from the reserve. We do not accept such behavior and always ask our guides to make sure that the customer is comfortable with the journey and time spent with you. We have taken this situation up with the guide and have dealt accordingly taking necessary precautions. We once again apologise for this uncomfortable experience.

A stone's throw from Cape Town
Feb 2019
If you're looking for a quick and easy visit to a wildlife area in the Western Cape, then Aquila's the place. Not huge, so the animals do seem a little enclosed, but the accommodation and restaurants are very good. Great value for money and very pleasant staff all the way.

Great Way to Spend the Day
May 2019
My friend and I had a free day in Cape Town and decided to book this tour. I cannot say enough great things. Our very informative tour guide and driver, Joseph, picked us up at our hotel and drove us out to the Aquila Preserve. We were welcomed with morning adult beverages (it was cold and rainy) and taken to the breakfast buffet before our game drive. Although rainy, the game drive was great. We were provided with ponchos, blankets, and hot water bottles to keep us dry and warm. We saw 4 of the big 5 plus additional animals. After the drive we participated in the lunch buffet and headed out. On the way back to Cape Town, we stopped at 2 wineries. One notable one and one less traveled. Both were beautiful properties with educational servers providing local snacks along with the wine tasting. It was a great way to spend 12 hours. Most importantly, we saw animals at the Preserve that we might not have seen in the wild. I was very happy to see the 7 majestic lions and the white rhino with her baby at the start of my African trip.

Dear Valued Guest Thank you for taking the time to review your tour and share your experiences. We are a travel agency which sells Aquila tours and we aim to make our guest experiences as memorable as possible. Unfortunately as Kabura Travel, we do not have any control over the animal sightings or number of animals in the Aquila Game Reserve. This is regulated by the parks board. With all of that being said, the Western Cape is experiencing severe water shortages which is beyond our control and we are all trying to save water as best we can and this has severely affected a large amount of the land in the Western Cape. Therefore I would recommend contacting Aquila directly to make mention to them of the disappointing game viewing experience you had as we unfortunately are only able to answer with regards to your transport to and from the reserve. I am sure they will value your opinion, so that they can improve on their customer satisfaction ratings. Once again thank you for taking the time out to review the product. Not Five, but Four and More!
Dec 2017
We were in South Africa as they were approaching the water crisis. But our Safari was fantastic! We did the day trip safari. We saw beautiful countryside on our two hour ride to the Aquila Reserve. On arrival, we were greeted with a glass of wine (or sparkling cider) and ushered into the Lodge for the most delicious buffet luncheon including desserts to break any diet.
It was absolutely amazing to get an up close, but not too personal look at the animals in their natural habitat. And yes, we saw four of the big five - the lions, elephants , rhinos and giraffes. Can't imagine how we missed the 5th one which is the Hippo! However, the zebras and wildebeest were abundant! Our tour guide was great imparting interesting and funny facts about the animals, the area and the people.
A safari is a must for anyone visiting South Africa.

A Childhood Dream Realized
Dec 2017 • Friends
Two magnificent African Elephants walked across the horizon as we stood by the poolside, before enjoying that morning's delicious breakfast buffet, which included local African dishes. Lion pride, Gregarious Giraffes, Amazing Zebras, and more... The Safari Tour at the Aquila Reserve enabled me to realize a childhood dream. I have watched wildlife documentaries by David Attenborough ever since I could remember, and I have always been fascinated by his off road trips across the African savanna in his Toyota Land Cruiser or Ranger Rover. This safari allowed me to be a part of that world for a whole day. We were lucky in that the Lions were resting in the shade of a huge boulder next to the truck's path, and we captured close up pictures. A giraffe comically straddled the path in front of us, just staring in our direction, blocking our way for a few minutes before it sashayed away. We drove among a herd of Zebras and Wildebeest feeding next to each other. We spotted a lone Kudu feeding in the brushes. From a distance, we spotted Rhinos and Hippos. Sparkling wine halfway through the trip, soaking in the wonderful vistas, we stretched out our legs between numerous selfies. Lunch was delicious. Do not forget to shop for souvenirs at the Hotel Shop. This trip would not have been as great if it were not for the the amazing, punctual, and hospitable service from Daniel Ringel who provided us with a private transfer in his BMW. After the safari, he took us to a couple of Wineries for wine tasting. I picked up a couple of wines to take home, including a bottle of Pinotage. Wine tasting at the Fairview was with Cheese and the other was paired with biltong. This trip is truly unforgettable. Thank you, Daniel, Aquila Reserve, and South Africa!
