We are happy to spend a few days with our amazing and professional guide Rochelle. She knows everything especially history of South Africa. - Go492600751500 contributionsEpic small group experienceJust returned from this experience. It was my first group tour, so I was pretty nervous about travelling on a tour... and with strangers. But it was an absolutely epic experience. The group size of 10 was perfect, the length of the tour was great, the itinerary was just right. Got to see plenty of diversity in scenery along the south coast, decent places to stay, and really great food all along the way. Garath, our guide, was awesome, plenty of laughs, and all-in-all a really spectacular holiday. I'd highly recommend Earthstomper. Booking process was easy and very responsive. Adding on two days at a camp in Amakhala Game Reserve was the perfect add-on to further experience a safari.Written 17 December 2024
- Extraordinary630230 contributionsPrivate Tour to Cape Point and WestMy family and I did a private tour to Cape Point, Boulders Beach, wine tasting, and the following day to West Coast National Park and Fossil Park. We had a tremendously awesome time with our exceptional Tour Guide Wendy!!!! - SusieSue19670 contributionsFun, Interesting and absolutely recommended.Highly recommended trip. We had two guides Gareth and Terri, both were excellent. Terri very intuitive about guests needs, Gareth was fun and very inclusive of all guests. I thought I wouldn't do the canoeing but with Gareth's help I thoroughly enjoyed the experience. Accommodation was above what I was expecting and all the activities were fun and interesting.Written 25 November 2024
- marienoellel20240 contributionsAction-Packed Tour!Really enjoyed this very active and diverse tour and our helpful and fun guide! Interesting and varied visits and activities along the way. Meals were good, often traditional home-style, Lodging on the first night was basic for the backpacker package, but the rest was nicer.Written 18 October 2024
- Paradise532091983370 contributionsEpic Garden Route AdventureI couldn't think of a better way to experience the Garden Route. South Africa is an incredible country and this tour was a great way to experience such a beautiful part of it. The tour itself was very well orchestrated and contained so many highlights. I'd definitely recommend the whale watching if you're in season, we were so lucky seeing Southern right whales, Dolphins and Seals up close. The food was fantastic throughout and the accommodation was spot on. I went for the backpacker option and was really happy I did. The travellers I met on the tour were a big part of its success. We had a great group and shared a lot of good memories! I'm sure everyone would agree that our incredibly knowledgeable guide Christine really made the trip special. She really went the extra mile and was invested in us all getting as much out of the trip as possible!Written 14 October 2024
- Companion072492805040 contributionsAmazing experiencesThis tour was a fantastic way to experience the beauty of the Garden Route! The itinerary offered a perfect balance of activities with just the right pace to enjoy everything without feeling rushed. If you're concerned about staying in backpacker accommodation, don't be – it's completely fine! Christine, our guide, was exceptional, combining her deep knowledge with a friendly, warm personality that made the whole trip even more enjoyable. The traditional, home-cooked dinners in the evenings were a lovely touch and we always felt well looked after. Thank you for the incredible impressions and experiences. Of course, the fellow travelers contributed so much to it as well – such wonderful people and adventurers!Written 29 September 2024
- DayTrip108902432800 contributionsFabulous trip & guideI highly recommend this tour for seeing the Garden Route. The guide, Christine, was lots of fun and also very organised and knowledgeable. - N5368BBhelenw0 contributionsHighly recommend!Well organised. Stuck to the advertised itinerary, so nothing missed out, but Mark and Terri the guides, manged to squeeze in a couple of extra things we guests wanted to see which was great. Nice mix of activities, animals, active, wine tasting, scenery. Lovely quirky accommodation. I stayed in hostels, in single rooms. Felt very safe.Written 25 September 2024
- giacomo95t0 contributionsWonderful experienceWe made the foodie tour: it was a wonderful and interesting experience, we had a chance to see places and to try things we wouldn't have alone. Our guide, Mark, was very helpful and nice: he managed to meet all our requests and stayed with us until late in the evening. If I had to change one thing, maybe the wine tasting wasn't at the other experiences. That's said, we would 100% recommend this tour! Thanks to Mark and to Earthstompers!Written 7 September 2024
- aadila20240 contributionsOutstanding Private Tour Experience! We as a family ( 3 adults including 2 seniors) had the BEST private tour experience with Earthstompers. Their genuine care, attention to detail, selection of properties and their staff/people who go above and beyond to ensure clients have a truly memorable experience was simply amazing. Our guide Rochelle was simply world-class! No request was ever a challenge and handled efficiently and gracefully by her. Extremely knowledgeable about South African culture, history, food, flora, fauna, politics - you name it! She left no stone unturned in ensuring we had the most comfortable touring experience. Our only regret - wish we had booked extra days with Rochelle/Earthstompers!! Highly recommend Earthstompers if you are looking for a memorable holiday in South Africa.Written 4 September 2024

The students - all from the United States of America - clearly stated that they will never be the same again. Nicole went above and beyond to assist us in custom planning the program around our very specific learning outcomes. Our exceptional guides, Roy and Rochelle, embraced our large group of 30 and ensured that a fully immersive experience was had by all. Cannot recommend this tour strongly enough – incredible experience both for first-time visitors to South Africa and those who have been before but want to see a new part of the country. I booked the "backpackers" accommodations but was impressed by everywhere we stayed, particularly the two nights spent on the farm accommodations.
Our guide Christine was EXCEPTIONAL and truly went above and beyond to provide us with an excellent experience. She had plentiful personal recommendations and truly seemed to enjoy herself the whole trip. Plus, our tour happened to fall over New Years and my birthday, and she planned personal touches for us to help celebrate both.
The vibes of our group were incredible as well and many of us immediately clicked. This tour is great for someone who wants to connect with friendly travelers from across the world.
I will say, there was a lot of time spent in the car (particularly on the return trip from Port Elizabeth to Cape Town), but that's the nature of a trip like this, and there were many rest stops, viewpoints, and interesting commentaries throughout the trip. The van was comfortable enough to get some rest and even more importantly, because the other guests were so lovely, there was ample conversation throughout the ride.

This tour was exceptional. From start to finish it was thoroughly enjoyable. To begin with our guide (Gareth) put in a shift with a smile every day. He safely negotiated the van around every bend and over every bump. He is very knowledgeable with lots of facts to tell about places along the route. He was always happy to answer any questions we had and went out of his way to make sure all the guests had the best experience.
The van has plenty of room to relax whilst out on the road. Looking out of the window as the scenery moves by is a pleasure itself.
All the accommodation spots (backpacker option) along the route were excellent, modern and in perfect settings. Some are worth the cost of the trip alone! The food at each place was very nice and plentiful including some lovely local South African dishes. You will not got hungry at any point.
The tour has been planned brilliantly, its nicely paced with a good balance of activities and view points in contrast to the time on the road. The activities themselves were phenomenal, so much fun and some at times physically challenging. Personal favourites were seeing the penguins, Kayaking along the river & Addo park, the latter being one of those pinch me experiences.
Overall I would highly recommend this tour (6day) its great value for money, allows you to see beautiful South Africa without having the hassle of driving and booking accommodation/activities yourselves and allows you to experience everything the route has to offer with a bunch of like minded travellers in comfort. Earthstompers amazing reputation online was not only met but surpassed, this is by far the best group tour i have ever done.

We really enjoyed our tour and it is a great way to experience South Africa for the first time! It shows you some of the gems of the South African coastline and it really let's you get in touch with nature, wildlife, people and local cuisine. Our guide gave us some good insights and always kept the mood high even when we got unlucky with the weather.
Our personal highlights were Addo Elephant Park and the Bloukrans Bungee Bridge even though every activity was fun.
We highly recommend you to book this tour when you are open minded, want to learn about other cultures and simply don't want to do the planning yourself. The Earthstompers Team ensures to pick nice accommodations and that everything is taken care of.
We also got along really well within our group and some may even found new friends.
This tour is not for you if you have an attitude, want to sleep in or don't want to get in touch with other people.

Fantastic tour with lots of things to do. Christine was a great energetic guide who always gave great advice on how to best spend our time. She was always taking photos of us so we could enjoy the moment and not worry about needing to take any ourselves!
I chose the backpackers accommodation which was well above expectations - we only stayed in one hostel and the rest were hotels/private rooms on farms.
Food was also great - often freshly cooked by the staff at our accommodation to suit our schedule.
Being a small group of 9 we were able to shift around our itinerary depending on the weather/our interests. Even if you don’t want to do the optional activities there is still plenty of things to do instead - any many places to swim!
Thank you Christine for such a memorable tour!

We did the 6 day trip as 3 friends in their 30s. We have no experience of South Africa and wanted to do a tour where we didn’t have to think. This tour by eartstompers, was so well thought through, Christine our tour guide put so much energy and effort into everything we did! She made us feel incredibly safe and went above and beyond for us all. She told us stories and facts, it was clear she had a passion for her home country and also for helping people have a god time! Her energy is infectious. The places we stayed were authentic South African places with lovely staff, local food and were all clean. I couldn’t recommend this tour more and hope everyone goes on it and has the best holiday like we did!!

As a first timer in South Africa, and the African continent actually, having a great guide Rochelle G pretty set our trip to the highest level of discovery and adventure possible. As a family of 3 with individual likes and pursuits, she was able to deliver a very delightful and meaningful Garden Route tour from Cape Town to Port Elizabeth and present it to us in different perspectives. I dig history and architecture, my wife into local businesses and products while my son into the new experience and photography.
Rochelle showcased South Africa with the best that it can be in that long, fun-filled drive along the stretch of the highway, often stopping along the route to shop, appreciate local food, talking to locals, climb mountains, visited heritage sites, name it and we did it. We ended up missing her a lot during the remaining days of our Cape Town return and consoled ourselves by visiting her recommended places of interest before heading back home.

I did this tour in September 2023 and can highly recommend it. Everything, really everything, was professionally organized from transport over accommodations and meals to seeing the highlights of the garden route and Addo Elephant Park.
We had Christine as our guide. She is absolutely fabulous, a wonderful person and fun to travel with. Christine gave us lots of insights on people, cultures, points and sites we visited, told us about all sorts of animals, instructed us what to wear and take for our hikes, what to look out for and all that. She always did this with a smile and a catching enthusiasm. We were 24 guests between 23 and 63 years of age, coming from different cultural backgrounds and we were all excited about her. She managed even "special" guests highly professional and the information she provided was always just right, never too much and never too little. For sure, Christine is the guide you want for this tour!
At the end of the 6 days I felt it cannot get better than that. Worth every cent for what you get. Thanks Earthstompers and Christine for the wonderful week there!!

We booked a private tour along the Garden Route with Earthstompers from Cape Town to Port Elizabeth and back. Our guide was Mark, and we cannot praise him highly enough. He is the friendliest guy you could hope to spend a week with. Incredibly knowledgable about the places we visited along the route. History, geography, the wildlife, food, everything. Our enjoyment of travelling with him derived from his great experience of guiding this route, yet it was clear that he was never bored or jaded. His enthusiasm and own enjoyment of his work shone through. He took us to some fabulous places we wouldn't have found on our own. In addition he was a super-careful driver, and we felt safe in his hands at every moment. Thank you, Mark.

I do a lot of solo travel or traveling with friends, so I was a little nervous to join a tour group of strangers. But I knew immediately, that I had made the right choice when our guide Wendy picked me up that this was going to be a good week. She was knowledgeable, fun, easy going and bought her passion for South Africa to the group. Our group enjoyed the activities (which were well paced), the lodging and food (it kept getting better as the week went on). As a first time traveler to this vast region I would highly recommend booking with Earthstompers, it will be the highlight of your trip.

Also, I am not good with canoeing. Will it be ok?
