Highlights
  • Explore the Cape Winelands: Skip the hassle of driving
  • Enjoy wine tastings at three different wineries around the region
  • Hassle-free pickup and drop-off from your Cape Town hotel
  • Learn about regional wine-making processes from your hosts
What to expect
  • Get picked up at your central Cape Town hotel and begin your day trip into Western Cape wine country. Visit the town of Paarl in the Paarl Valley, where you’ll visit a wine estate for a cellar tour and wine tasting session, along with winery stops in pretty Franschhoek and Stellenbosch. It’s second only to Cape Town as the oldest European settlement in the province, and where the region’s winemaking got its start. The Pinotage grape is unique to South Africa, having been hybridized in the country, but it’s not the only wine you’ll taste. Other varietals are grown in South Africa, too, including Shiraz, Semillon and Chardonnay. During your stops in Paarl and Stellenbosch, enjoy some free time to explore the towns on foot at your leisure.  After the last tasting of this relaxing day, head back to Cape Town aboard the vehicle. Please note that the order of stops may differ depending on the day.

Very knowledgeable driver who gave interesting commentary. The wine tasting venues were excellent and we had a wonderful range of wines and cheeses to taste.

Hard not to believe in Creation when you visit this area... the scenery is absolutely stunning. Blue mountains to green wine lands- breath taking. So many farms to choose from and each tries to outdo the other. Go on a tour cause you’ll want to taste all the wines

Together with our friends (a couple from Canada) we took a private tour of the wineries. Most enjoyable! Our driver surely is credited with our good time.

Perfect Day in a Perfect Setting
Jun 2018
I took an old friend with me to Cape Town which was his first visit. Having spent three days viewing the delights of Cape Town central and the closer in areas eating and drinking at some of its many superb restaurants we had arranged a trip to the wine lands organised by our tour operator Follome2africa who made out trip so easy, and operated by Illios Tours again another exception company. We were picked up at our accommodation and transported to a vineyard near Paarl where we were given a comprehensive and informative tour of the wine making process. Followed by a tasting with cheese. On to Franchhoek for another tasting at Richard Bransons Vineyard. Time to see some sites walking up and down the main street of Franschhoek ( such a pretty town) then lunch at another vineyard restaurant all Michelin Quality but certainly not the price. Beautiful views across the valley and the town were also available. On wards to The Stellenboch area for another tasting of superb wines and a visit chance to walk around the town with its classic Cape Dutch buildings. Delivered back to the front door of our accommodation by Phillip who kept us all well informed of on the sights we could see as we passed on our journey. Great day which I shall repeat when I can find another reason to visit what I believe is the best city by the sea in the world. Cape Town

Great trip to 3 vineyards with knowledgable tour guide
Jun 2018 • Solo
The pick up at my hotel was timely, and the guide was very friendly and knowledgable, explaining us about Cape Town, the history of South Africa and wines. We visited 3 vineyards, the villages of Stellenbosch and Franschhoek, and took a ride on the wine tram. Personally, I would have preferred to skip the wine tram to visit another vineyard. But, the 3 vineyards were lovely and we were very well received, got great explanations and tasted some really good wines.

Stellenbosch
Great day spent in Cape Town's wine region. The tour was fantastic, driver very friendly. Only complaint was not enough time was spent in Stellenbosch. Thirty minutes was not enough! Perfect day otherwise.

250 vineyards is hard to cover
Mar 2018 • Couples
Brian was our guide, very knowledgeable on the area and politics; he spent a lot of time talking about that and not about wine. He didn’t even join us during the tastings, which were all pretty acidic and full of tannin. We are not wine experts, but today didn’t really educate us much either. Lunch was great at a small French restaurant, and the pace of the day was very nice, but it’s not a “learn about wine” tour. I would do more research and go to different wineries on my own next time.

Amazing full day tour
Our tour guide, Basil, was wonderful. He was funny, informative and very nice. We enjoyed 4 great vineyards and stopped in two beautiful towns. Would definitely suggest to anyone who likes wine.
