          Great experience
Ian was a wonderful guide. He knows his species so well and showed us what we should look for. Great watching the humpback whales play in the water afterwards with a hot drink

          Safety conscious and knowledgeable
We booked online and Ian was at Cale Vidal to meet us. There was no communication beforehand other than the confirmation. We rented wetsuits, which I was glad of. The briefing was good and they were obviously very safety conscious. The weather wasn’t brilliant so the water was quite choppy and visibility was poor, but we still had fun and saw lots of fish. The team looked after my children really well which was appreciated as it meant we could look around. The hot drinks after were a bonus.

          Great experience! Highly recommended
We had an amazing experience doing this walking safari in iSimangaliso Wetland Park. It was incredible to see zebras and impalas up close and learn about their habits and behaviors from the guides, who also shared stories and insights about the local culture and history. We highly recommend this walking safari to anyone who loves nature and adventure. It was a touching and thrilling adventure that we will never forget.

Lack of communication equals very disappointed and unhappy client.
Had the walk tactually taken place, it may well have been amazing, but it didn't happen. I had booked the tour a week before it was due, and had got in touch with the company a couple of times following that, including 24 hours immediately beforehand to finally confirm meeting arrangements. This was done, though differed to the information on the booking as to the meeting place. Also, the directions were to Kingfisher Lodge / Igwala gwala Forest entrance, neither of which we knew but, hey, St Lucia is a small place. We arrived dead on time, but our guide - Ian - was not there. After a few minutes, we went to the Lodge reception and they, very helpfully, tried to get in touch with Safari and Surf. (I had also tried the cellphone number supplied, without success.) Eventually, my husband and I set off on the forest walk by ourselves. On returning, we were told by the Lodge manager that the comany had phond to say there had been an "emergency" of some sort. No one tried to phone me. A bit later, I received a Whatsapp to apologise

          It's a must!
We had an incredible time. Ian met us at the meeting point. The equipment used for the snorkeling was sanitized and readily available for our use. We had a lovely cuppa after our snorkel which was just incredible. Visibility was fantastic and such a variety of marine life to be seen. Highly recommended!

We have just returned from our second adventure with Rick and elìse, but this year with our daughter jade and her husband Harry. It takes us about 20 hours to get here from England, but boy is it worth it, everything thing they do comes from the heart, the snorkeling trip is the highlight of our trip, in fact so good we did it twice, somewhere between 80 and 100 varieties spotted all in total safety. We found ourselves constantly calling rick and Simon over with what's that one and that one? from them, not really knowing what to expect, food was delicious Acomodation was sublime beautifully constructed, private and relaxing. We also went on the bird walk, right on our doorstep beautiful unspoilt countryside. We have been to an awfull lot of beautiful locations but this is our favourite. All made possible by this gorgeous couple.

          Really awesome experience
Ian was great and patient especially as my youngest daughter was nervous. Once in the water, we had a blast. We didn't use wetsuits because it was a hot day (34C) and the water temp was also warm. However, you do get close to rocks etc and I think wetsuits would be a good idea to prevent scratches and cuts. I suppose it depends how deep you go. Also follow the advice given by the team- get there a little earlier and enjoy the whole Cape Vidal experience. The water was crystal clear with no large waves although we warned about currents further out. The hides in the park are well maintained and we spotted hippos and many bird species. We also saw a white rhino about 5 m from the road as we drove back.

          Step outside into NATURE
Saw impalas, mongoose, birds and an inquisitive hyena on a pleasant walk through the light, warm rain. Sometimes it's good not to be cooped up in a car.

We visited Kosi Bay December 2020 and went snorkeling on two occasions at Kosi Bay mouth. We were fortunate to see stone fish, moray eels, manta rays and many other fish species. The turtle tour was a wonderful and unique experience. We would definitely recommend Rick and Elise from Safari and Surf and would like to thank them for their knowledge, patience, kindness and their willingness to go the extra mile. Tembe Elephant Park is also a must. Truly an unforgettable experience.

Thank you so much for this lovely review! Sakhile is a great guide! Always special to hear about the Zulu culture from a true local and his eyes are like the eyes of a hawk! Sakhile is also known as the Chameleon wishperer, as he always knows to spot them as well as the little beautiful frogs! Hope to see you again!

Starting off your Safari and Surf adventure is snorkeling the beautiful Cape Vidal Reef's where you see plentiful fish, octopus and rock lobster pointed out to you by their great guides. We reminisced about what we saw over breakfast then set out for our safari drive! I learnt so much about iSimangaliso Wetland Park and Kwa-Zulu Natal thanks to Sakile their wonderful guide! Got to see elephants, zebra, Kudu, white rhino with a rare spotting of a black rhino and plenty more! We stopped at mission rocks for a braai lunch where we could enjoy a beverage and view while our food was cooked. Best memory of my visit in St Lucia, thank you!

Sakhile went above and beyond to immerse us into the animal and plant life, history, ecosystems, and Zulu Culture. We knew it was something different when the first few stops were not your typical mammal or bird spots. He showed us small reptiles and the native insects of the area. He described the history of the whole region in detail. Despite a blustery day were enjoyed his descriptions of the Zulu culture and a brief introduction into the language. The videos and pictures we collected were outstanding and we look forward to sharing everything we have learned with others. We can't recommend a more impressive outing anywhere. Out of the 2 weeks in South Africa, this was our finest day.

Our guide Sakhile was excellent. He was very open to share knowledge of his Zulu culture and gave us many explanations on animals and particularities of the region. He taught us a few Zulu words that were precious for our later contact to the people. The organisation was perfect. We highly recommend it!
