My safari experience lived up to my bucket list expectations solely because of Gerrie. He is undoubtedly the best guide ever. He’s the nicest and most accommodating person. He’s also extremely knowledgeable about all the different animals including their behavior and their likely locations. Despite two challenging weather days (one very hot and the next very cold), I was still able to have incredible animal sightings and interactions because of his experience and knowledge. Riding alongside Gerrie and exploring the magical world of Kruger is a memory I will never forget. And yes I did see the Big 5!

We spent three unforgettable days with Gerrie!!! The safari was amazing, we saw the big five. For three days we traveled on different routes, as the animals are dispersed in different parts of the park, but Gerrie knows where to look for whom. At the beginning of the route, Gerrie asks who we would like to see and acts on our priorities. Gerrie is very friendly and can also tell you a lot about animals, he is an experienced guide. We had a language barrier, but we found a way to understand each other. This journey will remain in our hearts forever! I just flew home, but I already want to go back and I think I'll do it. We are grateful to Gerrie! I advise you to plan a safari for a few days and you will get a lot of impressions and emotions.

Best guide ever. Gerrie was so lovely, we saw the big five and many more and he explained us so much. He asked us in the beginning what we wanna see and experience and he made sure that we got exactly that. We had so much fun and I would always book this tour again. We also got some great professional pictures from him from this day. Highly recommend it. ☺️

The was super awesome. All people in our group it was their 1st game drive, to make it even more awesome, we saw all big 5. Our tour guide Rufus was like an encyclopedia, he knew and taught us a lot. Big upset Kruger Gateway Safaris. It was indeed a blessing knowing the company.

We reached out to Kruger Gateway for a last minute booking with absolutely everything else booked up. Gerrie went the extra mile and arranged for us a special private safari. Communication via Whatsapp was fast, prompt, and easy. It was an incredibly premium experience while being surprisingly affordable. While other tours were bus loads crammed side by side, we had a personalized experience crafted specifically to our interests.

I’m not sure if words could do justice for what a safari with Gerrie is like. He is rather like the mayor of the Kruger guides…I’m not certain how many different guides stopped to ask him for advice, but it was over a dozen. They know what we found out: he knows where everything is, and he is willing to share that information. He can see animals at a distance that would look like shadows to anyone else, and goes off the beaten path to get closer. His pictures are fabulous, and his knowledge outstanding. At the same time, and as importantly, Gerrie is a gentleman. I was taking my 73 year-old mother, and he helped her get up into the truck, found a footrest for her, and treated her with all the care and respect in the world. Kruger itself is amazing, and I suspect one could enjoy it with even a poor guide, but Gerrie is next-level awesome. He loves animals, but might love the people even more. His day with us was over 14 hours long, and he was as gracious and hospitable at the end as he was at the start. I would willingly believe he is not just the best guide in Kruger National Park, but the best man.

Our safari experience was great! Our tour guide, Gerrie, was extremely knowledgeable about the wildlife, keeping us entertained with curious facts about a diverse range of animals. We were also provided with beautiful photos Gerrie took from his camera during the tour. The nature inside the park is breathtaking and having Gerrie lead us on this journey was the cherry on the top!

On 25 August we spent a very successful day with Gerrie.Not only did we see the animals on our wish list we had an unexpected sighting of a leopard and two cubs, this was just awesome.Gerrie goes out of his way to put his guests first.Gerrie has excellent communication skills, thank you for a day we will never forget.Highly recommend.

What a phenomenal day we had. We saw everything on our wishlist and then some. Everything from the ordinary to the extraordinary. We were spoiled by no less than two sightings of Lions, one being an entire pride with cubs. In-between that we had our socks blown off by a rare sighting of a Leopard and two cubs. Our host, Gerrie, went above and beyond to ensure that we had the best experience possible. His knowledge of the fauna and flora of the Kruger National Park is exceptional and he shares that expertise with verve. He even takes wonderful fotos so that you can sit back and get fully emersed in the moment. Gerrie comes highly recommended and I can see why. Thank you so much for an unforgettable day!

It may not be necessary to add another 5-star review here, but it’s certainly well deserved. We had a sunset safari on our first day and two full days with Gerrie. He also organized our transportation to Johannesburg. He truly cares about your wish list, but also adds some really interesting and unexpected about the flora as well. He is very patient and doesn’t give up, even when you do not see the “obvious”. We’ve traveled the 7 continents and over 60 countries, so we know the difference between an okay, good and exceptional guide. Gerrie is one of the few exceptional ones who truly cares, isn’t bored with the job, and proudly educates you. He has the knowledge, English proficiency and attitude you need for a great safari. Its a long way to get here, not cheap, so get the best guide available for your trip.

I was looking for a great experience and great photo opportunities when I sighed up for a 5 day safari with the highly rated Kruger Gateway Safaris. My trip with Gerrie far exceeded my expectation. He has an incredible sense of where to find the best animals and get into position for some wonderful head shots photos. In addition, Gerrie is such a great person to spend time with. I feel I was blessed to have chosen Gerrie to be our safari guide during our recant trip to Kruger NP.He has encyclopaedic knowledge of Kruger NP honed from a love affair of the place that goes back very many years.He then uses that knowledge to put you in the best possible position thus ensuring your sitings are many and varied . If you want you can focus on the big five you can but he will also make sure you pick up on some of the lesser 'stars' that it would be easy to miss.It was very unfortunate that my wife got food poisoning during our stay and I was panicking big style on what to do . No worries Gerrie ,having first dispatched Elmarie (his wife) to sit with my wife, sorted out a doctors appointment outside the park , rode shotgun to get us to the clinic , then escorted us to the the pharmacy and then drove us back to the park gate .Talk about going way beyond the call of duty . Gerrie you are a fabulous guide and a truly great person .Thank you .

I loved the park, such beautiful animals. The guide (Abraham H) was very nice and told us a lot of information about the animals and the park. I definitely recommend visiting, I will be returning in the future.
