Induna Adventures. Warning to all international and local tourists in the Hazyview area!
Induna Adventures should be approached with caution. This tourist adventure business poses a potential risk and may lead to serious accidents. Induna Adventures offers safe thrilling activities such as mountain quad biking adventures, river rafting, and zip lining; however, these activities come with inherent dangers. It is commonly assumed that organizations offering such experiences prioritize the safety of their clients and are well-prepared for any potential hazards. However, based on my personal encounter with Induna Adventures last week, it is evident that their primary focus is greed rather than ensuring the well-being of their customers. I visited Induna Adventures with my son for a quad bike mountain experience. The manager, Iain Gunn, greeted us and requested that we complete and sign the indemnity form. We complied and paid R1200 for both of us. Our allocated quad bikes appeared worn and not in the greatest condition. We departed to embark on our journey alongside our guide, making our way towards the mountains. Soon enough, I became aware that my foot brake was malfunctioning and I resorted to using the hand brake; however, it had minimal effect. This led me to unintentionally drive through some bushes, narrowly avoiding colliding with a tree. I promptly informed the guide about the brake issue, and he assured me that he would radio forward for a replacement quad bike. With this in mind, we continued on up to the top of the mountain, under the impression that we were going to be met with a replacement quad bike at the top. To my surprise, I found ourselves ascending the mountain pass. instead of swapping the quad bike at the top of the mountain as I expected, the guide led us down the mountain pass. I was very quickly in trouble and had to take evasive action to avoid losing control of the bike. It wasn't until we reached the bottom of the mountain that I managed to stop the guide. I insisted that he immediately take us back to the base. Thankfully, my previous experience with quad bikes allowed me to maintain control; otherwise, I could have ended up rolling. Upon returning to base camp, I approached Iain to discuss the quad bike's dangerous condition and recount the incident. In response, he provided me with a different quad bike. I mounted the new bike only to discover that the hand brake was jammed. Wanting to investigate the issue, I examined the hand brake lock and found an arbitrary tree nut that had been placed there to keep it in a locked position due to a broken locking system (see picture). On pointing this out I was once again given another quad bike, and we resumed our journey on the opposite side of the mountain. As we rode, I noticed that my son, who was ahead of me, struggled with the bike's front cover. It kept flipping up, obstructing his vision and requiring him to repeatedly push it down to see clearly again. His bike then suddenly began to choke, emitting smoke and stalling. Fortunately, my son stopped and waited to see if the engine would regain power to continue up the mountain. He managed to get the bike going again, with a big puff of smoke as it fired up. Everything went smoothly until we reached the end of our quad bike experience. Our guide took us on a circular track that allowed us to drift the bikes, which was a lot of fun. Suddenly, my bike leaned sharply to the left, and my back left wheel fell off and overtook me before I came to a sudden stop. Iain once again came over to investigate, mentioning that the owner of the farm had ignored his numerous emails about the condition of the quad bikes to no avail. He then proceeded to tell me that quad bikes are not meant for drifting, which is why the wheel fell off. This was news to me. I have since contacted Suzuki, the manufacturer of the quad bike, and they informed me that drifting is well within the capabilities of any of their quad bikes. So our adventure came to an abrupt end. We had only been at Induna Adventures for an hour. To date, I have not had an apology or a refund which further confirms Induna Adventures doesn’t care. Quad biking is a dangerous activity at the best of times, especially when participating in a mountain quad bike experience with bikes that are in shockingly poor condition. These quad bikes pose a serious risk of accidents, that could potentially lead to fatal injuries. I strongly advise avoiding this particular quad-biking company Induna Adventures. If they neglect the maintenance of their quad bikes, it raises concerns about the safety of other activities such as zip lining or river rafting. Take this warning seriously and reconsider your decision to visit Induna Adventures. I recommend that the authorities inspect Induna Adventures for their disregard for the well-being of fun-seeking tourists. Chris West-Russell: cdwestrussell@gmail.com

      Amazing geckoing at Induna Adventures.
Our experience was amazing when we went geckoing. Midas, Dipolela, Action and Bright made it even more memorable. They were very patient, informative and guided us extremely well through the rapids. The guides made us felt safe the whole ride and we had tremendous fun on the sabie river, chilling in the water, riding the rapids and amazing cliff jumps that will take your breath away. It's a must do on your bucket list for any nature lover and adrenalin jucky seeking fun and adventure. Thank you Induna Adventures.

      Professionalism
I phoned early morning to make a booking for 11:30. However, I phoned their Lanseria branch, the lady who answered then make arrangements for their Hazyview branch to contact me. Within 10 minutes I've make a booking for quad biking for me and my daughter. The quadbike ride was one of my best experiences and our guide, David was absolutely marvellous. Next time I will do river rafting.

      Excellent rafting tripp
The rafting was very nice. We had nice rapids and sat with two in a raft. The guides were excellent and made a lot of fun. The only minus was the rafting time since we had a long break in between. We did the two hour trip. It would have been nice if we rafted a little more. Excellent for teens.

      Exciting afternoon for family
We had a great time river rafting. The staff were phenomenal especially with the children. We found them to be helpful, encouraging and always mad us laugh with their humor. We stopped at a location with a swing from a high tree. They allowed the kids to swing and fly off the swing into the river. Everyone was excited to see a small crocodile on the river bank

River Rafting - fun for the whole family
We did the River Rafting in late March. Induna's River Rafting is on the part of the Sabie rvier closer to Hazyview, which is generally much slower than the stream higher up closer to Sabie. I won't classify this trip as a "White" River Rafting experience. The rapids in this part of the river and this time of year probably do not exceed a Level 1 or 2 level rapid - so beginner level. Adrenaline junkies like me will need to manage our expectations slightly: You will get wet. You might bounce around a bit. However, this is not the oar-clenching-get-thrown-out-of-the-rubber-duck type adventure that you have seen on TV (compared to say the Zambezi or Orange river). Adrenaline junkies should rather go for tubing, which is more extreme in a faster part of the river and good fun For families with kids this offers advantages - the more sedate river makes it ideal as a fun family-friendly activity for everybody from Grandpa to the kids can join. In my batch, there were kids down to maybe age 4 who safely participated. Booking online was quite easy, and friendly Induna admin personnel were quick and helpful to give advise or assist with the booking Induna can handle large groups of up to 50 individuals (children included). Catering for everybody, however, makes the process a bit slow and odious. Getting everybody to sign indemnities, suited up in the right size of life-jacket and helmet, and ready to start, is very time consuming and disorganised. Induna will do well to improve their process efficiencies. The departure point at the river is a short walk across the road from the operational base. After a short safety briefing, the fun starts. The entire process start-to-finish is maybe 2.5 - 3 hours, depending on group size. Water & snacks are available along the way. The guides are friendly and know their stuff. Afterwards, transport is available to take you back to the base. Tips: - Take a swimming costume - Make sure (sun)glasses stay around your neck with a string, or you could lose them - Wear Sunscreen or sunblock. Remember to apply some to the front of your legs - Take dry clothes for afterwards - Don't take anything into the boat which you are afraid of losing (cell phones etc)

Tubing - Thrilling but not for Lightweights
I think I must have read the wrong review before booking this. We are basically lightweights and were looking for an easy rafting experience on a lazy river. Tubing is something quite different! You wear a helmet and a life jacket and sit in an inflatable tyre type boat with handles. You are supposed to paddle to direct yourself, but I often didn't have a great deal of control. The staff were excellent and three of them accompanied four of us, one of whom was the photographer. They were very attentive to our safety and very kind and patient and humorous and dealt with my pathetic blabbering when I realised what we'd gotten into very well. The river is beautiful and there are 8 rapids. To get through the rapids you just have to lay back and hang on. I wiped out twice and the second time I lost my tube. The guide grabbed me immediately - I hadn't even realised he was close by. I guess nothing would have happened to me as I was wearing the life jacket and helmet, but it certainly got the adrenalin going. There are three high jumps from the side into the water which my husband and I weren't up for, but the girl with us did them and loved it. I hadn't even expected to get wet but the river was a nice temperature, not freezing. We're very happy we did it - it was a thrilling experience - but not for the faint hearted.

We had an amazing time with the easy to use quad bikes. Safety briefing was straight to the point and easy ti understand.

The route takes you in the macademia farm and offers great views.

It would be great if there are stops along the route and an explanation of the farm and its history or any other interesting facts about the farm.

What are the boys to do when the girls go for a spa day? Quad Biking with guide Sunday. We were warmly welcomed at the reception and quickly handed over to our tour guide Sunday. He introduces us to the quads and safety rules and equipment. After setting up the GoPro we had a brief test ride for all the first timers, until Sunday was sure they would handle route ahead.
Then we were off to the hills. A great route with magical view of the area. Well worth the time and price. Have fun.

Excellent place, no doubt. We did quad biking in the morning which was great fun, views were amazing too. In the afternoon we went geckoing (like a lazy river but much faster), it wasn't quite the season for white water but our guides made it a real fun afternoon. Definitely recommended for a fun day out with older boys
