- 247LiveLife0 contributionsAmazing Experience!I went with a group of friends on the Touws River, and what an amazing experience! The first part of the trip takes you to the river mouth, and then up to the pont over the river. It was still, and quiet, with amazing reflections in the still water. Lots of birdlife. Take your own drinks and nibblesWritten 26 March 2021
- Mooiskoot0 contributionsGreat way to experience bird life in the Wilderness lake areaA great morning cruise. Mike was an excellent guide and we learned a lot about bird behaviour and the lakes area. Especially enjoyed the section on the Duiwerivier. So serene with a beautiful sighting of the Knysna Loerie. The boat was comfortable and allowed great views from all sides.Written 11 December 2020

- Seaside285070 contributionsWonderful eco river trip .... great value for money and well worth the visit!!I spent the morning on this river boat trip and saw the wild bird life within touching distance on the river bank! Nice slow pace on the 1.5 hour trip so I could take everything in. Mike is very knowledgeable about both the wildlife and their habitat. Don’t miss this trip as you travel down the Garden Route 🦅🙏🤗👍 xWritten 9 January 2020

- Daphne6290 contributionsFerry trip and more!Phoned toq find out if ferry was running (as is suggested on Web site) although it was not running due to overcast and cold weather I was told a ferry back to camp site was not a problem. We were collected at the arranged time and had a knowledgeable commentary about the local birds. On getting back to campsite four people were picked up for the tour of the rest of the river, we were asked if we wished to carry on for the river trip, we did as the bird life was so good, we saw two different Kingfishers and other birds suck as the black Cuckoo Mike certainly knows his stuff and we had a most enjoyable afternoon. Good value for money as well.Written 16 November 2019

This tour by wilderness river safaris exceeded expectations . I do suggest you phone ahead and book or book online though as the kiosk at the jetty isn’t always manned .
It’s a lovely gentle ride up the river and we were lucky enough to see 4 different types of Kingfishers . Chris was an excellent guide with lots of knowledge to share about the local area and wildlife . Then the boat turns back and you ride into the lagoon for a different view . I would thoroughly recommend .

Great tour of the river and you will view the Knysna/Tsitsikama forest from a new angle. Our guide, Chris, shared a lot of information with us relating the the birdlife and other small game in the area, as well as on the trees and plants and made the trip worthwhile! After going upstream, the cruise included a visit to the lower area (near the sea) and shared some interesting stories relating the the local community and some of the magnificent homes high up on the mountain. We did the early morning cruise and were lucky enough to be the only people on board, it is worth booking in season, as the cruise is popular amongst local and international tourists alike. Thank you Chris for making it special, and Mike for accepting a telephonic booking!

A relaxing 90 minutes travelling along the River Touw. Chris was extremely knowledgeable about the many birds we saw and the vast array of trees and forna. My wife and I were the only people on the trip but were joined by Chris’s father who was equally knowledgeable, two for the price of one! If you fancy just relaxing for 90 minutes while you listen to nature and look at our beautiful world then this is perfect for you. We absolutely loved it!

Our guide was a really knowledgeable young man, unfortunately we didn’t learn his name. We were the only people on the 16:00 trip and we had the most amazing experience. We saw a long list of birds and this literally made our day. The guide was such an enthusiastic and professional person, helping us to appreciate the local sites and wildlife. It was truly a highlight of our three week holiday. Thank you so much.

Very peaceful boat ride along the Touws River. First part of the trip went down close to the river mouth, then turned around and went up into the nature reserve. We were spoil the best weather of the season to make the trip even more memorable

Had a great cruise with a friendly and knowledgeable guide, Mike.
We had our 9 month old baby with us - the cruise is suitable for children of all ages.
Our guide was kind enough to take us on the cruise in the rain and the warm cup of coffee that was supplied went down very well.
Trip advisor seems to have some issues there so I would just call to confirm the time with your guide. A great and beautiful experience. A must do if in Wilderness.

Our family of five booked the late afternoon cruise. After checking in at the Wilderness National Park, we found our way to where the cruise is operated from with ease.
We were welcomed by Chris who was our guide and had a relqxing cruise towards the estuary and then back, travelling further up the river. Chris was very knowledgeable and answered our many questions.
It was a great trip enjoyed by all, thanks Chris and Mike.

We booked this tour at 13:30 which is obviously not the best bird observation time but we saw quite a lot including three malachite kingfisher. Chris, our tourguide shared all the information, very knowledgeable and friendly. Can only recommend this tour

Unfortunately, the location from the cruise harbour wasn't easy to get to. Although the taxi driver assured us that he will be able to get us there in time to catch the boat, he tries different places without success. We end up at shopping mall for a bit of shopping therapy.

Very easy to reach. Take Dumbleton Crescent off the N2 in Wilderness which leads to into Wilderness National Park. Once through the main entrance take the first turn left into the Tarentaal Day Visitor area and we are 100m down the road on the right hand side. Google Maps will direct you to Wilderness River Safaris location.
It is a pity that you and your taxi driver could not find the location. Whilst directions are on our listing and on reservations. Unfortunately some people book our cruise and don't realize that we are not in the town in which they are looking for a boat cruise.. then they contact us to find they are 1300km from us. This is not a review of our activity. Not even sure who wrote the review, because all our bookings were attended by the people who booked.
