Splendid day trip to wonderful Lesotho.
We are so happy that we booked this, it was an incredible experience to drive through the Sani Pass and visit Lesotho. Also the visit to the village was a very special moment. Peter is a fantastic guide who provided us with a lot of useful information. We also were really lucky with the wildlife during the day. We will definitely recommend this tour to family and friends back in Belgium. Thanks also for the professional organisation.

        Wonderful day trip to Lesotho!
This is a wonderful trip! We were picked up at our hotel in Umhlanga at 6am by Grant in a comfortable sedan and driven to Underberg where we then transferred into a Toyota 4x4 with our Zulu driver Lungelo. Both drivers were happy to share information about SA and the tour. We saw lots of local wildlife along the drive up the pass with lots of stops to stretch your legs, take in the views and grab some photos of the beautiful vistas. Lungelo got us through the SA border crossing quickly and then were on the 8km rugged terrain switchbacks to get to the Lesotho boarder crossing, again very quick process. Once through we were visited a Basotho village where we were introduced to their way of life and tried their bread and beer. It was now close to 1:00pm so continued onto the highest pub in Africa to enjoy a buffet lunch. The local beer Maluti is a very nice lager. The views again are wonderful and we had the beautiful rock jumper birds entertaining us. We headed back down the pass around 2:30 again enjoying the beautiful views and conversation. Our driver Grant was waiting for us in Underberg and got us back to our hotel by 7:30. A wonderful day and experience!

        Phantastic excursion!
I became aware of this trip to Sani Pass & Lesotho at short notice and contacted the organization as I had some questions. I was contacted immediately by Whatsup and received answers and assistance with booking. Very friendly, uncomplicated, competent and helpful. The next morning I was picked up as agreed and a friendly driver took me (and others) to Underberg where we changed into a fast new Toyota Land Cruiser. Aldo, our driver, was very experienced and knew every curve and spot (he knows the pass inside and out)! I felt very safe driving up the steep and bumpy Sani Pass! The landscape, the views and the pass itself are spectacular and the drive is an unforgettable experience! Not dangerous at all, but still an adventure and you get a lot of helpful information about the geology, fauna and flora, traditions and whatever else interests you. The trip within Lesotho is short: a visit to a typical village gives an impression of local life. Very friendly people! Aldo's promise was right: it's YOUR trip and you have enough flexibility to plan your day and get the information that interests you! I won't miss this trip and can only highly recommend it to anyone looking for something unusual and exciting!!

        Absolute Stunner
Honestly, the views are spectacular, but our tour guide Mo, was outstanding. He was able to guide us through the region with so much knowledge and also taught us about South African culture. I cannot recommend this tour enough!!

Hearts full of Love with the Roof of Africa
We as a family originally had a 3 night 4 day trip planned for Drakensburg/Lesotho. Unfortunately we had to cancel this trip, so I worked closely with Emile to see if he could rework a new trip for us, He is Amazing! He was able to construct the perfect trip for us through his company Root of Africa within a week. Thank you so much Emile, we are so grateful. He booked accommodation for 3 nights 4 days, Multiple Safaris with Big Five. Cultural Heritage site visit with the Zulu. Sunrise breakfast at mission rocks beach with Sahkile and a gorgeous braai and beach time. An incredible Hippo/Crocodile cruise down the river. Our tour guide David was Amazing, he promptly picked us up at our house , followed through with all the logistics. He is very warm and caring, he paid attention to details and insured our experience was outstanding. Thank you David. We had a incredible time with all of you and your company. Our memories and hearts are full with love with Roof of Africa.❤️ The Calibuso’s

Sani Pass 2023 " Mountains that Sing"
This is my second time up the mountain with the same service provider and Roof of Africa never fails to impress. Our Tour guide this time was Nathi and he was amazing with a wealth of knowledge of Lesotho, taking us into the surrounding village to taste the steam bread. I genuinely would have liked for the trip to extend more to the Captial, perhaps next time. Booking with ROA was seamless, with constant communication that made the entire experience stress free. NOW THE RIDE UP AND DOWN THE MOUNTAIN: If you have this on your bucket list, then please do not hesitate, the sheer experience laying eyes on the magnitude of our landscape is breathtaking. The ride offers, small burst of adrenaline that will make you squeak in delight. When you get to the TOP, you understand that South Africa is truly majestic country. Thank you, Roof of Africa, for yet another well worth the 3 hours' drive it took us to get there.

THE BEST VALUE FOR MONEY YOU CAN GET.
This company has been great in all aspects. Firstly they have the best price possible and the best price you can find for the activity. Secondly, the agency answer ALL my long questions all the time, the guy who came for us in Durban was so nice ( Grant) I felt a real good and detailed service and the experience in Lesotho was great to have an introduction and a great peaceful and beautiful landscape. If someone want to include the itinerary from Southafrica and you are in Durban, you will be surprised of how great this experience is. Company is the best by far for this service and I asked all of them. Best price, amazing service. Impossible to fail. Thank you for all and listen to me so many times. You did your best.

An incredible experience and great valuefrom initial inquiry to actual adventure. Highest of recommendations. 5+ stars.
Emile and the team at Roof of Africa Tours were amazing. Quick to reply to any & all questions/concerns I had, always on time and very knowledgeable about the country, culture and wildlife. What an incredible adventure from start to finish. My family felt safe and looked after throughout our Sani Pass tour. Would book another adventure with Roof of Africa Tours in a heartbeat.

Well-organized day tour of the Sani Pass
Roof of Africa did a wonderful job organizing our day trip through the Sani Pass from Durban. Both of our drivers were friendly and very knowledgeable, so I would highly recommend this company. I did think the tour was quite intense for a day activity: it's a lot of time to spend in a car. Staying in Underberg might be better in that sense, although this has its own downsides (e.g. making your itinerary longer).

        Sani Pass Tour Adventure
We were picked up by Thabo at 6 am at the Durban Marina as we were there on our boat. Thabo, who is a wealth of knowledge on South African and Lesotho history, drove us about 3 hours to Underberg where we met Tsebo who was our guide up the Sani Pass. Tsebo picked us up in a Land Cruiser for the 2+ hour drive up to the Sani pass and into Lesotho. We stopped many times to see historical places and learn all about the flora and fauna and the history of the pass. The last 8km was quite an adventure so be prepared for a slow bumpy but spectacularly beautiful ride! After crossing into Lesotho we were invited into a local home, learned about the local culture, and tasted fresh bread made in a Dutch oven over cow dung coals. Then we had lunch at the Sani Pass Mountain Lodge where you’ll find a nice bar and deck overlooking the pass road. At that point I would have liked to stay a night and continue further into Lesotho but we didn’t have time. Tsebo took us back to Underberg where Thabo picked us up and brought us back to Durban. It was a long day but totally worth it!! I highly recommend it!!

        Sani Pass Day Tour
Peter, our driver, fetched us at our resort at 08h30 and he took us up Sani Pass for the day. The vehicle was an (ageing but in good condition) Toyota Prado 4x4 which was very comfortable. Peter negotiated the entire pass with extreme caution and we always felt safe. He also proved to be a wealth of knowledge when it came to the fauna and flora on the way. We stopped at a little Basuto village where we bought the most magnificent pot bread. I would highly recommend this company. The price was reasonable for a day trip, especially after our pensioner's discount.

What an extraordinary experience! I initially reached out to the company to discover options and from the very first interaction they were very professional. Throughout the trip they were kind and engaging and shared insightful information about the area. Lesotho it absolutely beautiful! What an experience. It is hard to describe the landscape because it is so unique and breathtaking. The driver was very careful and very skilled, which was very important for me since the roads are a bit treacherous—-but it made the experience even more exciting. The lodging overnight was very clean, simple, and the food was delicious. I highly recommend this company and a visit to Lesotho! It was a beautiful country and a truly unique experience.

My Partner and I did this two day tour with Emile and it was absolutely exceptional. It was the highlight of our trip. Emile was a charming and superb tour guide. We did two game drives and one boat tour and were blown away by the variety of big game we encountered. In terms of bang for your buck, we thought it was superior to our experience in the Kruger. In summary, could not recommend this highly enough.

My daughter and I went on the two-day Zululand tour organised and guided by Emile and we had a wonderful time. Besides the fact that everything was extremely well organised, we saw a lot of birds. Emile just knew where to take us and who to arrange as additional guides to maximise our birding experience. He arranged for Junior to assist in Mtunzini and Ivor in Monyoni who both did an excellent job. The accommodation and food were great and even a night drive was included which gave us 3 different owls.
