The knowledge and delivery of history and events delivered by Pastor was superb. All aspects of the tour including the vehicle and timing were just perfect. - P8688AKmatth0 contributionsGreat Soweto tourWe loved our tour with Kgaogelo. She was informative and educated about so many things related to Soweto and SA more generally. We went with our 9, 11, and 14 year-olds. Our walking tours through a Soweto informal settlement and Mandela’s home were particular highlights.Written 27 December 2024

- Escape656120373160 contributionsOnly partly a guided full day tourUnfortunately our ”full day tour” did not fully meet our expectations. We booked a private tour including our family of four but were met up with small car where we had to squeeze in. The guide was friendly. After some time I asked where I could get some water and the guide pulled out two bottle for us to share. The guide brought us to a poor part of the township of Soweto where he dropped us off for a resident to show us around. We were expected to pay/tip this person as well as a paying for a visit to one of the homes we visited. Of course we gladly supported them considering circumstances but to be fair our pre-paid guide waited outside and handed over the guide assignment to someone else. Similar thing next stop at Apartheid Museum where we spent the full afternoon. We were given the entrance tickets and afterwards the guide picked us up to take us to the hotel. During the day our guide had no plans for where we could have lunch and when we asked for lunch plans it finally ended up as part of our visit to the Apartheid Museum. In summary, it was a good day but not truly a full day tour with a qualified guide per se. The duration of the ”full day tour” is claimed to be 8-9 hours but we were back at the hotel after roughly 7 hours.Written 22 December 2024
- 214timothyj0 contributionsAwesome tour guideVery informative ……had a awesome time. It was a great experience with lots of photos. Seen a lot of things and places that i have only read about. - Ian B0 contributionsReview of the Jo’burg and Soweto guild day tpur.We went on this private tour with Pastor as our guide. We were really impressed with all aspects. Pastor picked us up from our hotel. He was very informed and courteous and make an excellent guide for us. His vehicle was spotless and he provided water for us. He was a very safe driver. The tour was great, and we leaned a lot about Jo’burg, Soweto and apartheid. It was a full day tour that left us humbled and ashamed. We would recommend the tour and tour company. Thank you .Written 10 November 2024
- R1429OTdavet0 contributionsIn depth tour Joburg and SowetoGreat day filled with information from Pastor our guide. His knowledge was in depth and he was open minded regarding history and present. We learned so much from him His driving very safe. He showed us the good, bad and ugly of present day Johannesburg and Soweto as he called it. Wow we were dazzled. The Apartheidsmuseum was a moving experience. So good and dark. We spent 3 hours and did not finish. We will be back. Company service was great and booking easy. Direct answers in booking proces felt very reliable. We can only highly recommend this company and Pastor as a guide.Written 8 November 2024

The half day tour of Soweto was definitely worth it... Our driver/tour guide William (Ngema Kortjas) was very prompt, professional and courteous. He talked about the history of the Johanesburg/Soweto area at length and was extremely knowledgeable. From the history of Dutch Mining Companies to the government system of South Africa to the days of Apartheid and Mandela... We left with a great understanding of the area and the history. Highly recommend this tour.

Despite many concerns from our environment and the internet, we decided to go on a city trip through Johannesburg & Soweto and were not disappointed! On the contrary, it was an absolute experience that gave us goosebumps. Our guide Pastar led us through Joburg in an informative and absolutely safe way, we were allowed to get out and even go into the township with someone accompanying us.
We would repeat this trip at any time and can only warmly recommend it.

We have just had the most amazing half day private tour through Johannesburg and Soweto- apologies I cannot remember the name of the female guide but she was incredible. Very knowledgable, we learnt so much!
The trip was so much more than I had expected in a very positive way, most likely as it was a private tour. Soweto was the high light- we stayed in a child care centre in the lower class area of Soweto. Well all I wanted to do was ship everything my children have over! They are so happy with very very little and when I say day care centre I mean a small hut! The mothers take it in turn to look after the children aged about 2-5 years. Definitely recommend this trip if you want to see all aspects of Johannesburg. The only other point to add is that you stop in a lot of places and have guided tours so you need plenty of cash for tips plus a donation to the child care centre if visited!

Pastor was an amazing tour guide, we learned so much about the history of Jo'burg, we visited all the important spots in the city and Soweto. Pastor was really helpful and knowledgeable about anything we talked about on our way to the tour stops. The guides at the Constitution Hill and Mandela House were great as well. I highly recommend this tour! Thank you Pastor 🙏

This was a very informative and safe way of exploring Johannesburg and Soweto. Our guide, Pastar was very passionate about history and had lots of info to share, but was also just fun to talk to and was knowledgeable about more than just his own culture. We learned a ton about history, culture, social structure, and government in South Africa. This tour also provided the opportunity to get out of the vehicle and explore from more than just the car, taking us to a few museums, the city courthouse, and a lively arts district, all of which was a welcomed experience. The pick up and drop off were seamless and timely. Communication with the company ahead of time was great too - quick responses and very accommodating people. Highly recommended tour for an intro to these two areas!

We booked the Private Johannesburg and Soweto tour for 5 hours from 8.30 – 1.30.
We were picked up from our hotel and we were able to bring our luggage with us and were then dropped at the airport at the conclusion. Our guide was Pastor and he was very knowledgeable and willing to answer all our questions. I had been nervous about seeing Johannesburg but we felt completely safe with Pastor showing us around. In Soweto we had the option to get out of the car but we preferred not to and that was not an issue.
We were glad that we took the time to learn about the difficult & complex history of this area and to do it safely with a knowledgeable guide.

We stayed at the Radisson in Sandton in Johannesburg, which was well protected and supplied a safe shuttle service (9am to 10.30pm) to the Mall by Mandela Square, which had great shopping and lots of Restaurants. Unfortunately the hotel did not have Baileys at the bar.
Our pick up driver from the airport was excellent guide, who advised on the do's and don'ts of daily living in Joburg. We also took a private tour of Soweto which was an eye opener to say the least but we learned so much and felt very safe.
Overall we learnt that it is not safe to walk around the city after dark unless with locals or guides.

A great introduction to Johannesburg and Soweto. Our guide Pastur picked us up from our hotel and showed us many highlights of the city and was very forthcoming about all the challenges faced locally. His historical knowledge of the history of the city and South Africa is quite amazing.

We had an incredible day exploring Johannesburg and Soweto with our guide, Pastor. His passion for his country was evident in every story he shared, and we learned so much about the rich history and culture of these vibrant places. Pastor’s extensive knowledge made our experience truly engaging. One highlight of the day was visiting a charming, hidden gem of a coffee house. The atmosphere was cozy and inviting, with the aroma of freshly brewed coffee filling the air. It was the perfect spot to relax and reflect on all we had seen.

Our guide, Pule, was wonderful from pick-up to drop off. Informative and engaging with both tidbits and deep history facts. Making the trip enjoyable and very informative. He also supported personal requests from us which made the day even better. Pule was interactive with us and we would recommend him to anyone wanting a city tour.

Hi there,
I have a long layover in Johannesburg n the 6th of January and I am interested in doing your day tour. Do you do airport pick ups and drop offs? If not, would you be able to recommend a similar tour company who does day tours and airport transfers as well?
Thank you,
Kind regards,
