      Amazing e-biking wild game experience
It was the best way to see some animals in the nature park, which is not far from Johannesburg! The tour guides explain the history of the city and the animals along the way and they carry water / energy drinks / snacks for us and distribute during the break and after the ride! Thank you Coenie and Muneiwa!

      Close Encounters
I've been to Sabi Sands and I've been to the Kruger. If you only have a short time, then come here instead! Of course, you won't get to see the carnivores, but I have never been closer to a giraffe and a zebra and we got to exercise into the bargain!

      Fantastic Day Out.
We had a great time on this trip. It's not every day you get to cycle past a Giraffe at an arms length and walk amongst Zebras.

      Definitely do this!
Hubby and I did this and it was marvellous. He hasn't been on a bike for ages but these bikes are brilliant. He had the power (help) on max and I had it on min (for some exercise). Bikes are quiet, comfortable, and powerful. Brilliant tracks - fantastic tour guide - lots of new stuff learned! Can't fault it. This is definitely a bucket list outing.

E-Biking is the way to experience nature, anyone can do it!
eBiking through the Groenkloof nature reserve was a magnificent experience and highly recommended with awesome Guides Bill and Dave. What a thrilling experience it was to whiz up hills with little effort and cycling around the most wonderful gem of a nature reserve in Pretoria. If you are like me, not a tour de France candidate, but love the great outdoors, biking opens up a whole new world of adventure. It was glorious being able to see great wildlife while easily cycling across various terrains at the Groenkloof Nature Reserve. Not only could I bike around with minimal effort up and down hills around the 10KM square meter reserve. Dave was also a magnificent guide, with tremendous knowledge and incredibly hospitable. We were well taken care of while learning about some significant South African history. Besides spotting wonderful game, we also visited the very pure water springs that still serve parts of Pretoria with water today. It was so spectacular to see this beautiful, crystal clear water bubbling out from beneath the earth's surface in the middle of a City. Try some of the awesome koeksisters or kaapse melktert after your ride to taste the best traditional baked goods Pretoria has to offer! Bill and Dave are also wonderful hosts. This is a highly recommended adventure for nature and game lovers who don't need to travel far for a really great day out with awesome people.

Groenkloof Nature Reserve e biking experience
A wonderful, relaxing day out in nature which is conveniently close to Johannesburg and Pretoria. It is a great place to enjoy the beauty and peace of a small part of Africa and come home fully rejuvenated. The e bikes are a fun, easy way to see nature and get close to wild life. We had two guides who are extremely safety conscious escorting us. We saw game and heard about the historical background of the area. A portion of the money collected goes towards cleaning up the river and its surrounds. An awesome experience which is highly recommended.

      Fun Day Out
During Lockdown I needed to escape from suburbia! I just needed a break and seeing as I couldn’t take my usual weekend away. Local reserves were quite limited but then coming across e-Biking I saw they do rides through Groenkloof which has fair game and fairly large. I’m not a cyclist whatsoever so I was a bit hesitant but I thought I’d try these bikes out After a 2 minute tutorial & an adjustment they were so easy to ride! It actually made cycling fun. It made the ride more comfortable and easier to view the surroundings. Getting out just felt so fantastic again. Dave, the leader of the pack, also threw in some interesting facts here and there. Highly recommended in my opinion!!!

      Groenkloof Nature Reserve e-biking
An exciting experience especially having just endured the restrictions of lock down. What a treat, a day out in a beautiful, tranquil environment. All the pressures of the last months evaporated. The bikes were in good condition and much care was taken to ensure the safety of the riders. We were given a brief practise lesson to ensure that we could handle the bikes competently. The guides showed us historical sights and shared interesting facts about the game in the area. A most relaxing day and a great first time e bike adventure with the added thrill of riding next to zebra, giraffe and wildebeest. This trip comes highly recommended.

      Perfect e-Biking experience
I had an amazing experience at Groenkloof Nature Reserve with Bill and Dave our guides and would recommend the e-Biking to anyone. The most important thing that I loved about e-Biking was the practising section before the adventure, here Dave and Bill determine whether you are fit to cycle or not and that you will be safe (the eBike has a lot of power). Because I hadn't cycled in a very long time, I wasn’t able to get my balance right and hence it wasn't safe for me to cycle. But this was no problem and did not deter us to have an excellent experience. Bill & Dave had an option for me to participate in the adventure in the car following the cyclists. Bill was my personal guide! While my colleague and Dave were getting the best out of the bikes and sites. It was a great experience and It didn't seem like I missed out by not cycling. We could stop by great views to take photos, catch up with my colleague every time to learn about the history and culture behind the Appies River, the fountains and Voortrekker settlement together and while also appreciating the animal sightseeing. The guides were well informed and it was quite fascinating to learn so much about the history that surrounds the reserve in hours and still get to enjoy the beauty of the nature. A great adventure and highly recommended.

We had been on Safari and decided to end our trip to Africa with one more view of the animals. What better way than on e-bikes. The first part of the tour, Dave provided a little history of Africa which was very interesting. We then proceeded on to touring the reserve. We have e-biked before but never with a thundering herd of wildebeests and zebra's. That was the best. Dave and Bill escorted us around the Reserve; what a great way to end our trip!

My group had such an amazing time. Bill is a thoughtful and well-informed host who provided such a well curated tour for my group’s needs and interests! The reserve itself is a gorgeous stretch of land that truly felt like being in the wild
once we drove deeper. The e-bikes made for a smooth and exciting mode of transportation. We got to see zebras, giraffes, ostriches, wildebeest and Impala in action. I would definitely book again!

    This tour was wonderful.
I met my guide Bill in the parking lot of the Groenkloof Nature Reserve where he already had the bikes ready. After a short instruction on how to work with the e-bike we were off.
The tour was amazing and with the help of the e-bike not to challenging. Bill gave a lot of information about the park, geology and the history of the area. We saw ostriches, two giraffes, wildebeests and a lot of zebra’s.

I had a wonderful time and recommend everyone to book this tour in this wonderful surroundings with this great company!

Liked it quite a bit. The guide started out by giving us a bit of history of Pretoria and South Africa in general. He wasn't long winded but gave enough info to want to learn more about the area. E-bike ride was fun/good also, observed many animals throughout the ride. For sure a good way to spend a couple of hours!

Be sure to add this activity to your list when visiting Pretoria! The scenery was beautiful and being so close to the wildlife was an unforgettable experience. Bill and Muneiwa were knowledgeable guides giving pieces of history as well as facts about the wildlife. They went above and beyond making sure our group had water, hydrating drinks and snacks to keep us going on the 3 hour trek.

Thank you Candace Yes, the history of this historic reserve going back even before it was proclaimed 129 years ago is quite remarkable - so glad that it contributed to the whole experience

I loved this trip. I have never been on an e bike and am 73 years old but I managed fine. It was interesting and we saw a large selection of animals. Ostrich zebra wildebeest and giraffe. It was a trip of a lifetime.

The roads are steep, and covered with deep ruts and big stones, making the riding very hard for two experienced cyclists. Tour guides were knowledgeable and accommodating. Animals were few and far between, so if you've been on safari, you should skip this.

Hi Mary D Thank you for taking the time to write a review on our e-Biking tour. Thank you also for your complimentary words about our guides. As you may understand, a tour within a stone throw of a city cannot compete with a Kruger Park or other bushveld venue. We offer a morning close to nature on a bicycle and if we are gifted with sightings by the giraffe, wildebeest, zebra, impala, sable or other animals as many of our guests have been, we are blessed. If not, a morning close to nature, on a eBike is a blessing in itself.

What an absolutely incredible experience! I cannot recommend highly enough the E-Biking experience at Groenkloof Nature Reserve. I booked the experience for myself and 3 coworkers during our free time on a work trip to Pretoria. I was slightly nervous as I am a 43-year old who has not been on a bicycle in about a decade, but those nerves quickly disappeared, as it was easy and enjoyable, and the benefit of having the electric boost for the hills was a nice bonus. Our guides Bill and Muneiwa were so wonderful. They were so communicative, professional, knowledgeable, and friendly from the moment I booked the experience to the very end. I even booked it at the last minute and they were very accommodating. I was absolutely awestruck by the beauty of the nature reserve and had to pinch myself a few times to remind myself that this was indeed real life. I had just arrived from the U.S. the day before, so to be out in nature after 18 hours of plane rides was exactly what I needed to reset! Bill’s love for South African history and Muneiwa‘a knowledge of the wildlife was evident, and I learned a lot. My favorite moment was probably when we arrived at a clearing with tons of zebras and 2 giraffes! I also enjoyed when the wildebeest ran across the bike path in front of us. We saw many other wildlife too! I’ve been on a mini-safari as a passenger in a jeep before, and was happy this time to try a different kind of approach on the e-bike. We did get tired by the end of the 3-hour ride and had a little exhaustion but Bill went above and beyond to ensure we were okay and got the rest we needed and that all were safe. I would do this experience again! Not only did I learn new tidbits of info, I got exercise, I saw animals, I spent much needed time in nature, and feel like I also made some new international friendships! Highly recommend, thank you again Bill and Muneiwa!
