Amazing cycling around the vibrant Soweto with great guides
We enjoyed every minute of this trip. Soweto has an amazing energy and our brilliant guides were so friendly and knowledgable. Our guide Welile is so knowledgeable about the history and life in Soweto and was so good at sharing that info. Totally recommend this trip and please tip the guides.

    Good insight. Excellent guide.
Great walk round with excellent information from your guide. Lunch was served 11.10 - bit early maybe. Very end of tour felt like we had run out of things to do/see…. Maybe just shorten tour ad time?

Insightful Soweto Bike Tour with Welile. Must do!
Welile's was an amazing guide and the bike tour of Soweto was an eye-opening experience, offering a deep dive into South Africa's history and culture. Welile's knowledge and kindness shone through as he shared stories of apartheid and Soweto's journey to freedom. The tour included a delicious lunch and well-maintained bikes, ensuring a comfortable and enjoyable ride. Highly recommended for a comprehensive Johannesburg experience beyond the affluent areas.

    Fun day!
We had a wonderful time on this tour, I am South African and familiar with the history, but my boyfriend is Brazilian and he enjoyed learning more about Soweto. To top it off, our guide also spoke Portuguese so the exchange of questions and answers between the two made it even better for him. Lunch was also delicious!!

The best way to experience Soweto.
Certainly one of the highlights of my holiday. So important to spend some time in Soweto if you want to begin to understand modern South Africa. A bicycle tour is great way to do it. Our guide Welile was superb, very professional, friendly and extremely well informed. He created a very good vibe amongst the group. We learnt so much and had a lot of fun. Thank you Welile. Great perspective on Woodstock
I try to hit up a street art tour in every city I visit. Often, it is a way to get to know the counter-culture of the city which is exciting. There were some impressive and inspiring pieces on this tour and our guide provided background on the people on the neighborhood and the artists for each one including the messages behind their works. Many were sponsored or commissioned pieces which can reflect the vision and hope of the community. There was some surprising (to a visitor) street art too that really indicated the politics and view of the people. It was eye-opening but also good to know where some community members stand on important issues. The commentary about subjects other than art was interesting as well and I enjoyed our discussion and tips for places to go too. I recommend this tour.

    Maboneng Graffiti Tour
We had the pleasure of touring with a pretty cool and easy guide called Clement. He was likeable and charming. It was fun seeing all the graffiti and the walk was easy. besides the graffiti we also got to pop in to various galleries and art spaces and meet artists and see their work. Perfect for those who love art.

Interesting tour with a great guide
This was our first tour upon arriving in Cape Town and it was an excellent introduction to the people, history and culture of the city. Our guide was very knowledgeable and he was able to provide context and history on each piece of art. We were lucky to be the only people on the tour that we booked, so it was like having a private guide. I definitely enjoyed the tour and would recommend it to anyone.

Fun and informative introduction to Soweto
My guide, Wilele, gave such a fun and informative tour. He knows so much about the history of Soweto and Jo-berg, and happily answered my many questions. The lunch was delicious and vegetarian-friendly (with meat option). Highly recommend!

This was one of the worst walking tours I've ever experienced. The Workers museum was where apparently half of the tour time would be spent however, it wasn't open until noon and we booked a 09:00am tour. The company should have been aware of the opening times and not allowed us to book this tour. We paid 700 rand per person for a 3 hour tour of downtown Johannesburg that lasted 1h50m, at most. Even with the guide walking extremely slow and asking us to look inside a gift shop and art gallery at the end.

Our guide was very nice and friendly however, we didn't receive a huge amount of information on the tour and were directed to read the tourist information boards about the historic mining operations instead. We could have done this without paying for the tour. He told us he normally does art tours and the normal downtown guide was doing a private tour so he had to fill in. This was clear as the only actual information we received from the guide was about the street art and wall paintings.

Finally, the tour included lunch but the credit limit was 150 rand with most items on the menu being around 200 rand excluding any drink. (Again, the tour cost was 700 rand per person)

Brilliant young people who are trying to make a better future for them and their country. It was an honour meeting them and listening to their personal experience as locals living in SA, and of course learning about the history of the city. I recommend it very much :)

Tebogo, and the side of Johannesburg that he showed me, blew me away. His in-depth knowledge of the history (I know quite a bit, but he taught me much more) and evident love for the city, it's people and it's history is astounding and made me so proudly South African.

I highly recommend this tour for everyone, locals will get so much out of it and learn about new places to visit for relaxation, shopping and entertainment.

Joburg truly is incredible, and One Day Africa unwraps the pulsing heart of the city, with love. As a company, their friendliness, efficiency and organisation skills are first class, I highly recommend them.

I'll be back, with my husband and friends. Thank you Tebogo.

We enjoyed a leisurely walk with Tebogo this morning in downtown Johannesburg. He was knowledgeable, patient, willing to answer questions and keen to share information about local life here.

Tebogo set our expectations regarding safety at the beginning of the tour. He let us know when it was a good idea to take photos, and when it was best to have our phones tucked away. We felt completely safe on this tour however, we would not have taken this route without an experienced guide.

It is easy to Uber to and from the tour starting and ending points.

Overall we recommend and have already booked another tour with this company in Soweto for later during our stay.

We had a fantastic, very enjoyable tour with Mathapelo seeing parts of the Johannesburg CBD and also Jewel City. At all times we felt extremely safe. Mathapelo was a great guide: clear in explaining the sights and also giving us background on the history of the city and of her experiences living in it. Lunch was also great. Would very much recommend for those who want to safely see inner city Johannesburg and learn about its history.

This tour was definitely worth the money!! Mathapelo was an exceptional guide, full of in-depth information of each of the sites we visited. She seemed to know the artists first-hand and enlightened us with interesting stories. The entire walk was delightful!

This review is overdue, but Sipho and his friend led our tour through Soweto in Dec 2019, it was a well curated experience that left you well informed about the history of Soweto and its importance in South African history. Sipho and his friend were kind and personable and made my time extremely enjoyable. We were well taken care of and our lunch at Chaf Pozzi for braai was delicious!! If you want to learn about Soweto and see more than the typical spots, book with Sipho!!

We came to Joburg with kind of mixed feelings but wanting to have an open mind. Had a fantastic experience with Mathapelo! She made the history of the CBD come alive and was so engaging and eloquent. Highly highly recommend this tour.

Nice walking tour with a wonderful guide! My wife and I were the only clients, so we got special attention! January is a slow time for Johannesburg. The only strange part of the tour was having to get an Uber for a section of the trip. It was included in the price, however. Good history of Mandela's fight to end Apartheid. Also, a visit to the Workers Museum to relive the plight of the migrants was provided. We've visited Auschwitz, and the living conditions were eerily similar. All in all, an interesting tour!
