- zspszabo0 contributionsSafari tourIt was truly an incredible experience. The driver picked me up from the hotel and took me to the location where I boarded a “cage car.” The tour itself lasted about two hours, during which I had the opportunity to observe the animals in their natural habitat. Once the tour concluded, the driver was waiting for me at the designated drop-off point and took me back to the hotel. It was a fantastic experience, and I deeply appreciate the opportunity to see the animals in such an authentic setting.Written 12 December 2024
- 7tanis0 contributionsWell-kept hotel with wonderful staff and amenities. This tour pleasantly surprised me and my boyfriend. The staff were always on top of their game and treated us with amazing service. MoAfrika who were extremely accommodating with their additional arrangements and transport. - javiranksalg0 contributionsMust do activity in Johannesburg (solo or in group)If you are short on time and want to hit up a safari - I highly recommend coming to Pilanesberg Reserve. I travelled solo and was put in a group with super nice people which made the experience even better. I was picked up and dropped off without any inconveniences. At the get go we got so see lions and later in the day got to see elephants, rhinos, a mongoose, impalas, etc. The tour company was professional and quick at communicating. However, I had to call in to confirm my pick up location and time because the ticket had a different location. Was resolved pretty quick.Written 11 December 2024

- mukhitr20240 contributionsUnforgettable adventureWe had an amazing experience with MoAfrica Tours. Our guide was genuinely passionate about showing us as many animals as possible. Thanks to his dedication, we were lucky enough to spot a leopard and rhinos. Special thanks to our transfer driver, who consistently checked in about stops and shared information about the locations along the way to the park.Written 10 December 2024
- 11anev0 contributionsOnly way the experience “the real Soweto” is through this tour. This tour allows you to bask into the best side of Soweto. We had an absolutely wonderful time with Ntokozo, who definitely elevated our fun to the next level. We got to see the best shebeens/bars in Soweto with him and we are really happy that we booked this tour. This definitely the best night tour that I have ever done.Written 10 December 2024

- eringN4796AN0 contributionsGood option to get an overview but would tweak if I couldThis tour was a good option to see Soweto, learn a lot of history, and have transportation provided for us. Our tour guide, Tshepo, was incredibly informative and shared a lot of extra details with us. The tour was "half day" and we were supposed to be back by 2pm, but we did not leave until almost 9am and we did not get back until after 3pm, and that was only because we pushed to do so and cut out lunch and a museum stop. I would have rather left earlier in the morning to accommodate timing (it said 7am on booking). However we booked the tour to fit with airport timing so we did have to rush there after getting back. I did not feel like the walk through Soweto was much, it was just a straight line to one daycare and back. I also did not like the stop at the daycare as it didn't feel right to bring a van of tourists in to look at the kids, have them sing us a song, and then leave. That wasn't advertised on the description of the tour and was just caught off guard. Overall the history shared was interesting and the ability to have transportation to cover such a large area was very helpful.Written 9 December 2024
- 11anev0 contributionsMoAfrika was fantastic and our tour guide Tom was excellent. This is a really good tour of Soweto and Johannesburg’s culture and historical areas. Our tour guide Tom was really knowledgeable and funny. His expertise and local knowledge made for a great day. We got to experience Soweto and Johannesburg much closer than we ever imagined. Thanks MoAfrika for a moving but great day.Written 9 December 2024
- Dorothy H0 contributionsDowntown and Museum tourThomas, our tour guide was prompt, the van was clean and safe, and his tour was way more than we expected. We would highly recommend it and do it again. The museum at the prison was the highlight. Thomas is very knowledgeable and freely answered all of our questions.Written 9 December 2024
- brendanmD4844DL0 contributionsA brilliant experienceReally good experience for 1st time seeing these animals really up close. The driver knew a lot of information and the animals and any questions asked he always had an answer for. We got pickup and drop off in Randburg that is good to those that don’t have a car or would rather not drive that is good. In all was a good day out.Written 8 December 2024

Pros:
— Sunny was a fantastic guide! He was personable, knowledgeable, patient, and resourceful. For example, when there was no tour guide available at Constitution Hill, he just jumped in and did the job himself. When there were no parking places due to the busy holiday crowds, he used his connections to find one!
— We were fortunate that Sunny was able to tell such engaging stories and give such thorough background information no matter where we were. From personal anecdotes at the stadium to his own family experiences with the shooting of Hector Pieterson to the warnings he gave his own wife in certain areas of Johannesburg, he never failed to keep us listening. He was open to every question we had.
— The all-day Johannesburg, Soweto, Apartheid Museum your was comprehensive, giving us a good overview of each place.
— Sunny was prompt and handled everything for us. It felt good to sit back and let someone we trusted take care of the driving and tickets.
— The trip to Soweto, and the walking tour, was a highlight. Bring extra money with you to show your appreciation to the residents who open their homes, share their art, and take you on the tour. There’s also a curio shop at the end of the Soweto tour where you can further show your support.
Cons:
— The time at the Apartheid Museum (2 hours) was too short for us. That’s no fault of our tour guide, but if you’re looking for a more comprehensive visit, go a different time. Also, remember when you’re booking to check the days that the museum is open.
— There was no time built in for eating. That worked out fine for us, but I’m sure for some people 8 hours would be too long.
In all, it was a superb experience with a professional company. Highly recommended. And thank you to Sunny!

This tour was good. I had safety concerns about Johannesburg but on this tour, I felt safe as a solo female traveller. We went to many places - the Sanctuary Mandela, Constitution Hill, Soweto, Mandela House, Vilakazi Street, Hector Pieterson Memorial, and Apartheid Museum, and I got a better understanding of this country’s history and the complexities of apartheid. Nomonde our driver/main guide was warm, friendly, and punctual, but I felt she didn’t value-add much as a guide at most of the attractions (sometimes we had other guides). We also rushed through Apartheid Museum (our last stop) in 1 hour, when we could probably have spent less time at Sanctuary Mandela and more time at Apartheid Museum. We didn’t have free WiFi in the vehicle too though it was stated as included in the brochure. But the vehicle was very comfortable. I still recommend MoAfrika and this tour!

Our group of 42 was made up of a university choir from the United States touring South Africa for 16 days. We had the half-day tour of Soweto on our last day in South Africa and it was a perfect final experience for our students before returning home. Itu, our guide, gave us extensive information about the history of Soweto as we passed through the streets of Soweto. Our visit to the sqatter camp made a strong impression on all of us. Also the visit to the Mandela home was important. Itu, our tour guide, was outstanding. Very informative, knowledgeable, and personable. I strongly recommend this tour and Itu as a guide.

It was a great experience to see so much of Johannesburg and the history of South Africa. Khutso was a great tourguide. He explained a lot of interesting things and made us feel save all of the time, even in the more dangerous areas of the city. I will recommend this tour to my friends for sure!

We had the pleasure of a 5-star full day tour with Itu to Cradle of Humankind and Soweto with my family of 4 including a 9 year old and 13 year old. Itu was absolutely amazing; he is knowledgeable, speaks clearly, and truly paints a picture of South Africa. Being from Soweto, he was able to give us insight that we could not possibly have gotten from any random tour guide. We got so much more of an experience than we anticipated in Soweto; it was amazing for my kids to walk the poorer neighborhoods, visit a daycare, and see all the historical landmarks of Soweto through the insights of a local Soweto resident. Thank you Itu for an impactful and amazing experience; we will be back specifically for you. ITU IS HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

We did the full day tour on 23/12/22 and found our tour guide Khutso to be both incredibly informative and funny. He talked enthusiastically about the places we visited and gave us a real insight into life in Jo’burg.
The tour around Constitution Hill, both the former prison and new court house was fascinating as was the Apartheid Museum. Both telling the story of South Africa’s past and looking to the future.
We had a lovely guide on the short walking tour of Soweto which was a real eye opener with Soweto not being entirely what we expected.
All in all a great tour with a fabulous guide. Thank you.

Prince was very efficient and provided great commentary while negotiating traffic and making stops throughout the tour. He made us feel very safe. The areas we saw were sometimes sobering including the prison, and the two museums. You learn a lot about Joberg and the struggle for justice and human rights under aparthied. He was engaged and enthusiastic and patient. Would recommend if you are interested in seeing many areas of the city and also learning the history of apartheid and Mandela, Desmond TuTu etc.

We only had an overnight after our Safari in Kruger. So, we asked our travel agent to book a driver to take us to the Apartheid Museum before our flight home. When our driver Thabang arrived at our hotel he asked if we wanted to see more of the city than just the museum and we readily agreed. Over the next 6 hours he showed us all of Johannesburg, including the mansions in Houghton, a tour of the Constitutional Court, downtown Johannesburg, the World Cup football/soccer stadium, a tour of SOWETO including a walk through a neighborhood, and the Apartheid Museum. To say we were blown away, would be and understatement. This tour ranked as one of our best experiences in South Africa and was so much more than we were expecting. Thank you Thabang for an excellent day!

Itu, from MoAfrica took us all on an enlightening experience of culture, history and hope. Itu was a guide with a heart and explained that he would give us a lot of information, but he wanted us to really be able to feel the stories. We were picked up in a clean and comfortable van and he took past some landmarks on the way, Including Nelson Mandela’s last home. We visited the age tor Pietersen Museum and came away with a renewed sense of anger and sadness around what happened. He took us in a walk through one of Soweto’s dirt streets where we met a family who showed us their home and spoke about what their day looks like. We bought lollies for all the local children and watched them play soccer on a dirt patch. We had lunch on Vilakazi St, went into Mandela’s Soweto home and ended up at a craft market. It was an informative, sobering and enjoyable all in one. Well worth the visit.

Our guide, Cpho, picked us up from our hotel and from there we had the most amazing day. All the way through the tour he provided us with great detail and insight into Johannesburg and the sites we were visiting. The day was jam packed and took in some really interesting points of interest. The tour took us through some areas of Johannesburg that I would not have been able to see safely on my own, but felt comfortable in our bus and with our guide. The visit to Soweto was amazing with a real sense of community that you could feel on the visit. The museum visits were so interesting and insightful though I could have spent the entire day at the apartheid museum. Highly recommend this tour.
