About
Wildlife, Wild landscapes and waterfalls, explore the most untouched coastline of South Africa tour from East London to Durban with 3 time photographer of the year winner Jay Groat working on Landscape and wildlife photography with the most beautiful setting.
As its name suggests, the Wild Coast in the Eastern Cape that extends between the Mtamvuna River in the north and the Great Kei River to the south, is an untamed wilderness.
The Wild Coast is an incredible, unassuming combination of breath-taking coastline, precipitous and craggy cliff faces, wild and desolate beaches, secluded bays and green rolling hills that rush headlong into deeply etched river valleys.

About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- Mpho M0 contributionsWe have done this for 4yrs now. Each time a different experience. From Port Alfred to George and back. Never gets tired5 Garden route it is called. All I see or experience is the beauty and safety. It caters all ages. Very affordable if you plan right.Written 31 December 2022
- rryan140 contributionsNo better way to see and experience all that Andalucia offersMy wife and I are New Englanders, in our 60s and recently biked the White Village Tour with Andalucian Cycling Experience. We are casual cyclists and have previously biked in Italy, France, and Ireland. We love bike trips as a way to see a country, or more accurately, a small part of a country, slowly, thoroughly, sample the region's food & wine, all while pedaling through beautiful countryside. The daily mileage was reasonable with some challenging hill climbing. Route selection was excellent and most roads were exceptionally quiet. The selected hotels were outstanding and typically exceeded our expectations. The selected hotels were outstanding and typically exceeded our expectations. A great hotel in a charming village is a nice reward after a day of cycling -- finding your luggage delivered, swimming in a pool, having a glass of wine or sangria, enjoying the views of the countryside or walking the cobblestone streets of the village. While our favorite village was probably Grazalema, we also loved Zahara de la Sierra, Setenil de la Bodegas and Olvera. We were also happy with our choice to spend two nights in Zahara which allowed for a more leisurely exploration on the off-day to see the town and the historic keep high above the town. In summary, we absolutely loved Andalucia - rolling landscapes with impossibly beautiful & ancient villages perched high on rock outcroppings or mountaintops, superb tapas, seafood, paella, and great wine, welcoming people, and excellent accommodations -- all expertly put together by ACE/Ashley. Ashley was excellent in handling logistical details and communications. We highly recommend this bike tour and ACE.Written 22 November 2022
- nhasbani0 contributionsclose to Athens, relaxing, beautiful beaches, not much to do.One hour by boat from Athens! great beaches, great villas, chilled place, amazing to relax and disconnect. Ferrys are available every couple of hrs. not much to do on the island itself, it lacks the greek village atmosphere, no pubs or bars or clubs and water sport activities boat rentals are extremely rare. but the island is still mostly wild, easy to tour (you need a car, there are only 6 taxis on the island). if you settle by a beack or creek for a few days, the sea is great.Written 1 August 2021
- HanriL30 contributionsPathetic customer serviceBooked and paid 50% for a Greece trip in Feb 2020, when we couldn’t go in September 2020 due to lockdown, Side Street Explorers promised to pay the money back in 6 weeks when they received it from the airline. Now more than a year later and still no refund and almost no reply when I ask for feedback/refund. When the owner, Helena, does eventually answer its always problems and promises and still no refund. I want a full refund.Written 2 July 2021
- EasyPass0 contributionsBeware: Shady dealingsWe booked an April 2020 trip to Sicily with Gregg at Side Street Explorers. Of course we, four Americans, were not allowed to travel to Italy in April. When, in May, it became apparent that a 2020 trip was out of the question, I asked for our deposit back. For two months Gregg assured me that, as he had received the money back from the Italian lodging, he was sending the money tomorrow, then the next day, then the next day. Then he stopped answering my calls and emails. I've got my credit card company working on this now. The tour sounded amazing -- it no longer is offered -- and I'm sorry that we never got to go on it.Written 24 February 2021

- 764louisel0 contributions5 Day trek and homestayDid the 5 day trek over 2 peaks. Glad I had worked out at the gym prior as this was not an easy trek. The views and landscape is well worth the trip. We had an excellent guide in Suvit and were well looked after by the staff. Bring toilet paper and bug spray. We also brought our own sleeping bags. We saw a samba deer and a badger on the last night at the ‘Nest camp’.Written 28 January 2020
- ColMills0 contributionsThe most amazing experience. Memories for a lifetime. There are not enough words to describe our journey through Vietnam and Cambodia. From bustling Saigon, through rural villages of the Mekong Delta, to the temples of Cambodia, this experience will be one that is etched in all our minds and hearts for years to come. The opportunity to immerse yourself into a culture in such a short time is rare and a gift. When time is so precious, a holiday like this is just amazing. Thank you.Written 12 January 2020

- BlueskyBurning0 contributionsCycle trip to Vietnam and CambodiaI’m NOT yet a proper cyclist! Having said that, I’m a ebiker, so I’m sort of a cyclist! Joined Side Street Explorers (SSE) trip to bike in and around Vietnam and Cambodia over 12 days. SSE we’re responsible for the connecting flights to and from Vietnam and as I was on a budget they gave me the scenic route from Johannedburg, South Africa to Vietnam via Rwanda, Zambia and China. A day or so later I’d resolved that I’ve “done” African airports in the middle of the night, but honestly it wasn’t that bad, in fact it was fun! Met up with the rest of the tour group and set off on an amazing journey through Vietnam and on to Cambodia. The tour guides were really good, considerate and compromising - no issue was too difficult or a problem. One of the tour group had chosen to stay in more up market accommodation, and was a wee logistics issue at the beginning and end of the day, but no drama really. Our, lesser mortals accommodation, was really good and better than I expected when the tour operator said it was 3 Star. I was perfect! The highlights were the lunches on the side of the road, what road, they were paths! And the cycling in side streets (no pun intended) with opposing scooters and pedestrians and the sudden left or right turn over a rural bridge into another rural community. Fantastic!Written 9 January 2020

- tv4010 contributionsDon't Bother Booking with This Tour--It's horribleIf you are thinking of booking this tour, you would be glad to skip it. We booked this tour because we found it on TripAdvisor/Viator and not wanting to plan the entire trip. We expected the tour supplier to be local, not from South Africa! Communication is key and the supplier would be fast asleep during the daytime in New Zealand. Since this was an extended tour of 12 nights, we expected the tour guide to take care of us for the length of the tour. If the guide couldn't come with us, at least, there should be someone to brief us on each destination. There was no guide, no briefing, no one local to contact. Please know when we book with Viator, we expect you to do some research on the tours that you advertise. We were greatly disappointed because we trusted you. We were left to fend for ourselves in a foreign country and with a supplier from overseas. Good thing we were resourceful. We took charge and forced him to provide us what was promised. We didn't get to see "the amazing and unique birdlife of 396 recorded species that NZ has to offer", based on the tour itinerary. We enjoyed NZ on our own without the promise of an expert guide! All we can say is that the supplier was working with us throughout the time we were on tour. It was frustrating because we had to scramble around to find decent hotels, calling the supplier in the evening time because he based in South Africa.Written 4 December 2019
