Overview

If you’re the sort of foodie who likes to escape the beaten path, consider Qibao, one of Shanghai’s less-visited water towns and a mecca for local food-lovers. On this Qibao food tour, discover up to eight Qibao specialties and Chinese delights with a local foodie guide, then sip Chinese tea in a teahouse. Upgrade to include a traditional Chinese foot massage.

What to Expect

Greet your guide in People’s Square and board the subway to Qibao Town. Stroll along Qibao Old Street, admiring the historic buildings, beautiful stone bridges, and tranquil canals.

The south side of Old Street is known for its street food. Here, your guide will introduce you to up to eight foods. You might try beggar’s chicken, lotus-leaf pork, crab-meat dumplings, Haitang cake, or Qibao specialties like cooked mutton with special sauce. Once your tastings are finished, visit a teahouse beside a canal, and savor a cup of Chinese tea.

Upgrade to enjoy a traditional Chinese foot massage before your guide walks you back to Qibao subway station, from where you can make your own way home.

Fantastic tour

Queena took me on a fantastic tour of the ancient town which was much more than just about food. She was an excellent tour guide and explained a great deal about Chinese traditions and culture. Highly recommended.
