About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- JulieIden0 contributionsGuangzhou to 'Little Yangshou' -- Loved This Tour!My family had a great experience on a multi-day cycling trip with Cycle Canton. Our group consisted of adults and several kids (ages 8-14) with a mixed range of cycling experience. Bram was amazing at accommodating and challenging everyone on the trip from the youngest kid to the more experienced cyclists who rode 100+km a day. Every last detail of the trip was well considered and adjusted along the way by Bram and Anqi —— the accommodations were beautiful and perfect for relaxing after a long day of riding; the support crew was professional and made sure our bikes were well tuned and we were safe on the roads; and the snacks and meals were exceptional. I highly recommend taking this trip to explore the off-the-beaten path parts of Guangzhou.Written 5 March 2022
- Riccinni0 contributionsSafe and FunOur group of five had the chance to go on a 3.5 hour bike tour with Bram (young version of Hugh Jackman), Jake, and their team. The staff are so kind with our safety as their highest priority! I’d seen the staff stand on the road to make sure that we are crossing safely. The pace is just perfect for exploring 15 km - 18 km around Guangzhou. I learned so much about Guangzhou from Bram. He taught us about the history, culture, and geography of the area. I am a strong believer of experiential learning and his bike tour enabled me to remember so much because we were able to see, hear, smell, and participate in the fabulous journey around Guangzhou. My family and I have done bike tours in Melbourne, Krakow, London, Vienna, etc and our experience with Bram and his crew is one of the very best! I HIGHLY RECOMMEND Cycle Canton! You will absolutely L❤️VE it!Written 13 July 2020
- Dmusk0 contributionsWorthwhile tripCherie was very keen to share her city with us. Relaxed pace and we got used to dodging hazards. Excellent and absorbing way to see roundWritten 21 January 2020
- SeeTheWorld11110 contributionsGO, even if it’s rainingWe had a weekend in Guangzhou between meetings. We’re really glad we spent the day biking with Nicole. She gave fun local perspective. Even with scattered showers during the day, we managed to find places inside. Then we broke out the fairly good ponchos with hoods supplied by Cycle Canton. A little rain was no problem because it was warm. Note that Google maps doesn’t know exactly where the Happy Monk meeting place is. Your taxi driver or the locals probably knows best, once you get close. GO FOR IT!Written 2 March 2019
- mr2panman0 contributionsBrilliant Tour of GuangzhouSo interesting and such friendly company. Very knowledgable guides. Recommend it to anyone. Enjoyable despite the rain. Ponchos provided. Only teeshirt, shorts & sandals needed.Written 30 October 2018
- Robert v0 contributionsCycle with BramWe truly enjoyed our afternoon cycle with Bram as tourguide. He is extremely knowledgeble about the City’s history and happily answered the many questions we fired at him. There is no better way to explore this beautiful big asian city and would highly recommend the tour.Written 2 October 2018
- chrisoakesef0 contributionsIf I could give 6 stars, I would! This tour takes you all around Guangzhou and helps you discover some hidden ‘gems’ along the way. Wind through the alleys and cycle through some of the most beautiful scenery in GZ. An absolute must if you want to ‘kill time’ or if, like me, you like to discover the history a little deeper. Thanks to Nicole and Angel for your fantastic insights into a beautiful city.Written 30 September 2018
- David R0 contributionsBrilliant day out, exceeded expectationsThanks Brad for a brilliant day out. Enjoyed seeing the old and new Guangzhou with a local guide. Biking through the little alleyways we would never have found, learning about the history and culture, and trying the local snacks a highlight. I enjoyed the wet market even though my co-travellers were a little squeamish. Great to learn a bit of Kung fu from the granddaughter of the legendary Ip Man, a must for Bruce Lee fans. Thanks for going the extra mile and helping us with a Di Di car too. Amazing to see the progress Guangzhou has made in the last few years, I had no idea. I would totally recommend this tour to anybody wanting to learn about Guangzhou off the beaten track.Written 10 July 2018

- 485Justin8880 contributionsDid not enjoyThis tour seems focused on profits at customers’ expense. After arriving to our pre-booked tour, we were told it was cancelled to accommodate a larger group and offered a tour the following day. This was a big planning difficulty for our weekend, but we tried to be good sports. I wrote to the management and was given an “apologies for the situation yesterday.” The next day, we were surprised to be asked to pay in full and after an awkward conversation only offered an $8 discount off the $56 price/person, which met our extra taxi fares. The tour took a great route, but our guide did not speak English well. No one in our party understood why the first school we stopped at was important or what it was for, including after asking. The threads of other stories got lost. We weren’t given time for questions, and when another party asked for water, the guide said she’d forgotten to buy extra. Also, the tour uses cheap public “mobikes” that rent for 1rmb. My butt was sore and my pedals felt about to give out. My bike had an x-rated penis enlargement ad pasted on it. Also, the guide used a lot of English expletives in her speech, but not always appropriately. After writing management again we were refunded one full fare and offered a more heartfelt apology. When paying over 50 usd for a service that uses public bikes, you expect to be treated well. Treating your customers’ time as important, offering apologies and compensation when you don’t deliver, rather than giving it out grudgingly is unprofessional. And when paying so much for an English tour, it should be understandable and clear.Written 25 March 2018
- RaymondRoesti0 contributionsGreat serviceI unfortunately had to cancel my tour at the last minute. The team from Canton were very flexible and understanding, to the extent that they refunded the fees in full. Canton is definitely on the list of things to do for my next visitWritten 22 March 2018

Off the beaten track experience in the old town alleys and markets, then an experience of the glittering new city. Some level of fitness needed... its 16km. Great guide.Written 2 November 2017

I have to give kudos to the team for their dedication. Despite the rain and the small group, they made sure to still give us the full experience of the tour. We rode through the bustling streets of Guangzhou, passing by famous landmarks and local neighborhoods. Our guide also had interesting stories and facts to share about the places we visited.
Of course, the intense rain did put a bit of a damper on things, but our guide did her best to make sure we were comfortable and safe. They provided raincoats and made frequent stops at covered areas. I have to admit, it wasn't the bike tour I had envisioned, but the guide did her best to make it a memorable experience despite the less-than-ideal weather conditions.
At the end of the tour, I was soaked through, but it will surely be a memory of Guangzhou that I will never forget.

I only had 24 hours in Guangzhou.
Cherry is the best tour guide, her English is perfect, and she went out of her way to make sure that I had a good time ❤️
The bicycle tour is perfect if you want to see the highlights of the city in a short amount of time. I loved discovering the hidden ally’s of the city, and going to the food market. Thank you cherry 🙏

Got us off the beaten track and into the back alleys & streets - great experience and what we wanted. It could of been so much better if there was more information from Cherry, our guide, on cultural and life experienced along the trip. In this day and age I think an audio link from guide to everyone with a more informative commentary would really make this a 5 star plus attraction.

Dear Robert,
Thank you very much for joining our tour, we were very happy hosting you and your wife in Guangzhou! Thank you also for your feedback. Cherry and I have discussed your tour, and she mentioned it was executed in the normal fashion. We try to keep a balance between moving on and cycling on the one hand, and stopping and sharing stories and visits to places and people on the other. This way we can show many sights and sides of Cantonese culture and lifestyle in a brief afternoon. Some guests would like more stories, some guests would like more cycling. I hope you understand and trust that you learned a few new things. I would always be happy to share more with you on email or phone; reach out if you wish :) !
Cherry and I wish you a great remainder of your trip through China, and hope we may see you again another time soon!
Best,
Bram

Saw interesting back streets that you wouldn't have normally. Worthwhile but guide whilst friendly lacked detailed information a skipped past things that appeared interesting. Would be great to have wireless commentary which is easily done. With little effort could be 5 star plus.

Nicole was incredible. I did two half day tours, which were more like 5-6 hours. I saw a lot and meant a lot. Additionally, I had trouble getting to the airport with my planned driver an hour away and my boarding time looming. I didn’t have internet so Nicole liaised with multiple parties to get me there on time. Highly recommended.

We want to give some extra appreciation for Bram who offers excellent customer service and Cherry our guide who were amazing. Not everything can be right ( we didn't get the right bikes) but we loved the content and care Cherry provided for us throughout the day. Cherry is a wonderful person with a positive energy, and she really did everything in her way to accommodate our needs. Bram took our concerns seriously and was very communicative throughout the whole experience.

Having done bicycle tours in Shanghai and Beijing, we were excited by the prospect of doing this one in Guangzhou. However much to our disappointment, you can only do it on a Saturday only. Sunday was perhaps possible but only if "more" people signed up. And you guessed it - no go for Sunday. Unlike the cycle tours in Shanghai and Beijing, this one does not charge according to the number of people (ie cheaper if more people show up, more expensive if less people etc). So it appears that it is operatinal only at the whim of the owner rather than on customer needs. They could definitely learn a lot by seeing how others run a successful cycle tour company.

The tour guide didn't speak any English and the service was so poor, we didn't understood what the school and museum were for, the guide didn't said anything to us for those two places.. and also the guide didn't gave us any bottle of water. The bikes were in bad condition and so dirty, they uses the cheap public bikes, the guide took us to the dangerous cycling route, there were so many cars running just next to us which was not safe, we are really disappointed on the management.

Hi John, we have no record of you joining, and your description sounds nothing like the way we conduct our tours. Maybe you have us mixed up? All our guides speak great English, share stories at each stop, and provide water throughout the tour. The bikes are in great condition, and route is almost entirely away from traffic. We hope you will join us some time soon!

My partner and I were recently in Guangzhou, China to visit friends. Our friend suggested we do a half-day bike tour with Cycle Canton. She recently did the tour herself & was enthusiastic. We were not disappointed. The 4 1/2 bike tour traveled through old Guangzhou and ended up in the, very new, Newtown district. The tour gave us a real insight into how people live in this busy, exciting city. I particularly enjoyed the glimpses of old Canton and our knowledgeable guides brought history alive. The tour was very easy and anyone with limited fitness would have no problems with the riding. Loved the tour and grew to be very fond of GZ.

Staying 3 months in China for business, I decided to spend 1 weekend in Guanzhou.
I was looking for some useful information about an optimised and interested tour to organize by myself but was impossibile!
I found one walking tour and this 4 hours cycle tour ; luckily I decided to enjoy the last one, sure to visit more places cycling.
Right choice!! I couldn't do what I have done without bycle!
My guide was Broom and I can say to have been very lucky. He is very prepared about Guanzhou history , he understands what you are interested in and he is very available to answer to your questions.
With its many stops, the tour shows you the real life of this mysterious and interesting city and gives you the possibilities to understand more about its long and complicated history.
Unforgettable will be the experience in Kung Fu school ! You can meet and watch in action Yip Man granddaughter and you can practise a little of this balanced discipline.
You can walk in a curious market and discover what kind of fish and meat you could eat in Guangzhou.
You can feel close to Chinese people playing badminton in People's Park and testing tipical delicious snacks .
During the tour final part you can take a look to the modern part of the city, the one that you surely expected to see.
Finally, I suggest this experience not only to foreign visitors but also to Chinese ones.
You will not be disappointed!!

My wife & I are arriving Guangzhou early on 15 october- Airline won't confirm hotel accommodation until we get there so can't risk locking in tour. How late can I make a booking for the tour on this day .
Regards Ian & Jill MacGregor
Written 21 July 2019
Hi Ian and Jill, although normally we would advise to book at least one day in advance, you are welcome to book with us upon arrival and knowing you can join. Canton Fair (a large trade fair) is on at that time, so we pre-assign guides ahead and can accommodate last-minute bookings. Hope to host you soon, and have a safe flight in!

And what if we want to withdraw in the middle of the tour if kid feels bored and hard to follow? Thank you.
Written 19 July 2019
Hi! We ride at a slow pace, so kids who have cycling experience usually have no problems keeping up. If you were to abandon half-way through, we will take care of the bike and help with transport arrangements (taxi/metro, at own expense). Hope we may host you some time soon!
Written 25 September 2019
Not sure - but (unless there are alternative routes) I couldn’t imagine that the ride we did is suitable for children. Best to check directly with the company that you book with.
