What to Expect
Begin your day with a morning pickup from Keio Plaza Hotel. Enjoy a scenic drive to Nikko, a small, mountainous city that was once an important center of Shinto and Buddhist worship. Today it’s the gateway to Nikko National Park, a stunning nature reserve famous for its forest-covered mountains, wild monkeys, and hot springs. It's a popular stop on the Romantic Road, an off-the-beaten-track rural trail full of ruggedly beautiful sightseeing spots. Stop to peek at Tosho-gu, an ornately decorated 17th-century Shinto pagoda and mausoleum, UNESCO World Heritage Site. Learn about the origin of the “see no evil” monkeys, who are represented in carvings on the shrine. Enjoy an authentic Japanese lunch if you've opted for the upgrade. Next, travel to Lake Chuzenji, whose picturesque waters are contained by a crater formed by a sacred volcano’s ancient eruption. Standing on an observation deck overlooking the scenery, you’ll see where the lake cascades over the hillside and erupts into a fog-like mist, forming Kegon Waterfall, one of the park’s most beautiful sights. On your way back into Tokyo, stop at at one of Tokyo’s most extravagant entertainment districts for some souvenir shopping before making your own way back to your hotel.

The day before the Super Typhoon Hagibis. It was a calm, slight sprinkle day, with beautiful historical sites of Nikki, the lake, and falls. Lunch included noodles, duck, beef, a shrimp tempura, fiddleheads. Enjoyed the day.
