What to expect
  • Kempe Gowda founded the city in 1537, but today there's hardly any trace of the fort that he built around the Pettah or the town.  Meet your guide at your selected departure in front of Kempe Gowda's statue. From here he will take you on a visit a few structures like a temple a mosque, a  huge market,  etc. Along the way learn about the history of the Kempe Gowda's in the 16th century as well as the town planning of Bangalore town. Learn more about the town planning of ancient cities in India too.  The guide will give you a detailed description of the town as well as the many legends and tales of valor which helped form Bangalore. After a hearty breakfast head-out to explore a famous temple, a mosque and a bustling flower market. In between the sight seeing indulge in some window shopping too. But the highlight of this tour has to be a view some of the professions being practiced here even today like Silk weaving.  This walk is conducted by native Bangaloreans with years of extensive research, travel and publications on this subject, some of which is exclusive.

Temples and silk factories
Jan 2020
The 3 hour Saturday morning walk was led by Mr. Ali who knows the area and history from his personal background. Aside of the neighborhood temples the highlights were the silk washery and small weaving factory. These are locations down small alleys I would never have found alone. The hard working conditions - the noise and the heat - gave me new respect for the labor that goes into any beautiful sari we may find in a store.
I am in for another tour next Saturday!

Highlight of time in Bangalore
Nov 2019
Outstanding walking tour of old town Bangalore for just my mom and myself. Mr. Ali was an entertaining, informative, and thoughtful guide. We loved all of his personal touches and ability to make the tour what we wanted (3 different stops for chai tea)! We highly recommend this tour!

Excellent start to a Sunday Morning

Mr Ali leads you through the meandering lanes of the pette which is quite exciting. You come across some interesting places that you would definitely miss if you are here on your own. The Tawakkal Mastan dargah is definitely my favourite.

Informative and interesting, the highlight being a visit to the Dodda Garadi!
Jul 2019 • Couples
Never had the time to explore these highly market oriented areas, which during the peak of the day are crowded, and bustling with activity, but at the early hour, remarkably quieter, and echoing some of the magic of the past. The walk was well organised, and the information provided was good. The highlight was a visit to the Dodda Garadi Mane (or the big wrestling house) and talking to the person running the place. The breakfast at the Udupi Sri Krishna Bhavan is also worth the trip!
