A Day Well-Spent
Mar 2020
We had a day available for a day trip on our stay in Santiago, and debated between this tour or one to wine country. Because of the uniqueness of the Andes, this one won out. And, so glad it did! Once we got out of the city, which was no small feet on a workday, the experience was everything we could hope for. Gorge kept us on the road (no small feat, at times!) and Daniel provided excellent commentary on all things Chilean and our Andes adventure. Only reason I would consider not giving this a 5 is because of the traffic going and coming back...but nothing they can do about that!

Excellent tour
Mar 2020 • Solo
There is a lot of driving on little windy roads, but if you can cope with that this tour is great.

Alejandro, the guide, and Jorge, the driver, are both excellent and work as a team to ensure that everyone is well looked after. Alejandro's knowledge of Chile is extensive and he communicates well, making sure that everyone is included and feels welcome. As a bonus we had another guide, Martha, with us too, just for that day, who was also lovely.

We took regular breaks along the way, the lake and mountains are absolutely beautiful and we had about 1.5 hrs there to enjoy both it and the picnic (chilian wine is excellent!) plus empanadas and ice cream a bit later on. It provided a welcome contrast to the intensity of Santiago city, and I recommend it thoroughly.

Extraordinary Scenery!
Mar 2020
Today, was quite an adventure, heading into the Andes Mountains. A small bus took us along the dramatic gorge of Cajon Del Maipo (river) in Central Chile, southeast of Santiago. Before going “off road,” we stopped at San José de Maipo for a quick break. Along the drive, the river bed was low, and there were remnants of glaciers, and one waterfall. It is the tail end of summer which explains the arid terrain.
The area is heavily mined for copper, and we traded the narrow one-way road with dump trucks carrying loads. The final destination was the vast and beautiful turquoise Embalse El Yeso Reservoir. The Andes frame the reservoir in a dramatic fashion. We walked along rocks to reach the banks of the reservoir and enjoyed the commanding views. We had a lovely picnic and enjoyed regional Chilean wines. Heading back, we stopped at El Arriero for empanadas. The final stop was at Casa Chocolate Tienda Boutique, a Hansel and Gretel styled building featuring chocolate and ice-cream. George was an incredible and experienced driver, and Daniel provided great details on the region, and history of the area. It was a long day, but well worth the time and travel.

An Awesome Day.
A great trip. Gabriel our guide was fantastic. Full of information, political, geographical, historic and geology. Excellent English ( Spanish, Portugese) and great fun ( including a love of our generation music on the way home).
George our driver was excellent, careful and safe. Beautiful day, great sights and photo stops. First class picnic with wine that was far too drinkable.
Highly reccomend

A great day our from Santiago
Feb 2020
Daniella (our guide) and Jorge (our driver) did a fantastic job getting us to Cajon del Maipo, with great commentary along the way, and excellent driving by Jorge along some pretty narrow and challenging roads! The dam itself is just wonderful and the picnic Daniella and Jorge set up was great!! We had a few stops along the way for photos and even managed some ice ream at the chocolate house!!! All in all a very enjoyable day and we would recommend it to other tourists.

Beautiful and Fun Day Trip
Feb 2020 • Couples
This was a perfect day trip from Santiago. The reserve is stunning, and although the drive is a little long, we stopped at multiple spots along the way to break it up (snack stops, bathroom stops, and photo ops). Our guide, Gabe, was fantastic. Spoke perfect English for us as well as Portuguese for the Brazilian guests on our tour. He offered history and facts about the area, but also offered personal touches on recommendations and the culture of Chile in general. He also sent photos to the group after the tour that he took throughout the day. Overall it was a great trip and would definitely recommend.

Fun day
Quite a bit of time was spent on the road but with sufficient pit stops along the way. The picnic at the reservoir was very nice and I couldn't be happier with our guide, Daniella, and driver, Jorge!

A wonderful day
Feb 2020
This was a perfect getaway from hustle and bustle of the (humongous) city of Santiago. I felt like all aspects of the tour were excellent and all the stops enjoyable. The scenery around Cajón del Maipo was simply breathtaking. Daniela did a great job as our guide and our driver Jorge likewise did a great job negotiating some very tricky roads.
