Highlights
Sightseeing tour of Jerusalem follows the footsteps of Jesus Christ
Hear of Jesus’ links to ancient Jerusalem while exploring the Old City
Visit churches and the Via Dolorosa pilgrimage route
Hotel pickup and drop-off available from central locations
What to expect
This full-day tour begins with a Jerusalem hotel pickup by air-conditioned coach. First, stop at the Mount of Olives for a scenic overview of the entire city of Jerusalem. This mountain ridge is east of the Old City and named for the olive groves that once covered its slopes. According to the gospels, a number of important events in the life of Jesus took place here, including where he ascended into heaven. The Mount has been a site of Christian worship since ancient times and continues to be a place of pilgrimage for Eastern Orthodox, Catholic and Protestant believers. Walk down the Mount to the Church of All Nations, also known as the Basilica of Agony, near the Garden of Gethsemane. It is believed that Jesus prayed here on the night he was arrested by Roman soldiers. Pass through the Jewish cemetery in Kidron Valley and into the Old City. Take a break to enjoy lunch (own expense), then continue the tour by the Pool of Bethesda, a pool of water in the Muslim Quarter of Jerusalem associated with healing, as described in the Gospel of John. Visit St Anne’s Church, believed to be the birthplace of the Virgin Mary, mother of Jesus. Next, walk past the Convent of the Sisters of Zion, leading to the Via Dolorosa, the street that Jesus walked on the way to his crucifixion.  The tour concludes here, then board the coach for a return trip to the Jerusalem hotels.

Interesting Tour
This tour is offered through the Bein Harim Tourism Company. We had difficulty setting up our pick-up point, and it took two days and 2 more emails from me to get a response from them. We were instructed that we'd be picked up at 8:15 a.m., but the driver didn't arrive until 8:35. He drove us to another pick-up point where we waited for more people. The tour was supposed to start at 8:30, but our tour bus didn't take us to our first stop until 9:30, so we were a full hour behind schedule before we started the tour.
Our guide was Jewish and shared the Jewish perspective about the sites. He was also familiar with the Catholic perspective, but not the Protestant.
Positives: tour size was small--only 10 people and our guide read a section of Scripture pertinent to the place at most stops.
Negatives: Since the tour is "In the Footsteps of Jesus" I expected a chronological tour, especially for the Via Doloroso, and it was not. I'm sure that was to decrease walking on an already long tour, but our stops seemed disappointingly disjointed.

Dear llheim, Thanks for this posting. I will answer issues you have raised to clarify and not mislead readers of this. From what you describe it is evident you stayed at an Airbnb, for which addresses from such places need to be investigated before confirming exact free pick up hotel location nearby. Yes, it is also tour route dependent. I will check what you say about the slow response by my office operations team. However, allow me to correct a big misunderstanding of yours: You chose a group tour with a free pick up. Nowhere does it state that the actual guided tour begins at 8.30. The pickup is a 45 min process all over Jerusalem, distance and traffic considered to a central meeting spot, to join the designated bus. It certainly cannot begin at 8.30! Therefore the tour start logistic, mentioned in your is post misleading to readers. Tour route, again is certainly suited to a group walking, and to reveal the highlights along the way, and fit in the schedule, Church along the way, entry times, etc. Our guides are licensed, highly professional, experienced and knowledgable about the sites they visit and provide commentary on. We are happy this was enlightening for you. Sincerely, Bein Harim Tourism Services team

Footsteps of Jesus
Eric was a tremendous guide for this tour. He is a real polymath. Very conversant in Jewish, Christian and Muslim theology and history. He brings cold stones to life and is ready, willing and able to answer all types of questions. We were very impressed and pleased with his expertise.

Moving tour through the holy sites of Jerusalem
Jan 2020
We had a fantastic tour through Jerusalem guided by Dan Porges. Despite the rain, Dan's encyclopaedic knowledge made for a fully engaging tour, with interesting anecdotes at every monument that you simply wouldn't come across without a guide. The trip ended with a very special and spontaneous serenade from a pilgrim group choir visiting the Bethesda pools. We loved this tour and would highly recommend it.

Walking in Jesus’ footsteps
YOAV MALACHI’s tour was a great introduction to the steps Jesus took through Jerusalem inside and outside the wall. Would recommend. A lot of history and knowledge. Prepare for a lot of walking.
There wasn’t any option for lunch other than the restaurant set menu option provided so be mindful of that. And also have around 55 shekels extra for entrance fees into some of the churches and site along the way. This was not mentioned in the tour package.
Overall- it was a very interesting tour.

Dear Olaj we thank you for sharing your satisfcation with the tour and guide .However you have made a false accusation and printed misinformation on your belhalf or your tour agent. :Regarding entry fees to locations on the way:. We as local operators certainly do ,very clearly LIST that on this specific tour entry fees ARE NOT included as churches donot accept u vouchers and tour guides cannot be expected to pay upfor their travelers. Its the small print important information section!!that you didnt read !!It is not legal any other way. The organised lunch stop as a group together is, so that travelers donot get lost wandering off to find a place. We are happy to read that you enjoyed the tour with one of our highly professional and reputed guides Yoav, for this he deserves your favorable feedback. You are not forced to eat the set menu, and easily take a shwarma or falafel for 35 nis.

Sensational tour guide
Dec 2019
We enjoyed several excellent tour guides during our week in Israel. Without exception Ami was the most engaging, informative and inspiring guide of the entire week. This tour includes outstanding vantage points and you spend the day working through the Mount Olive and parts of Jerusalem.

The tour does not cover all the stations due to time restraints but Ami’s powerful grasp of biblical history and archeological insights made for a captivating trip. As a Christian, if you can only schedule one Jerusalem tour and one tour guide then this is the one!

A MUST Do for Christians
Dec 2019 • Solo
I was blown away by this tour. I have done a couple others with Ben Harim and this was BY FAR the best. Our guide Ami was outstanding to say the least. He was passionate and knowledgeable about scripture, history and culture. He made the Bible come to life for me and the friends I met on the tour. If you are looking for tours to experience Jesus’ impact on the world and feel the weight of his ministry, look no further.

(Only downside We did not see Jesus’ tomb)

6 out of 5 Stars from me.

Thanks so much for this rave review of 5 stars of your tour and the guide Ami. He is indeed worthy of such superlatives ofr his engaging passionate manner and for providing enlightening and interesting commentary. Regratably the long lines to the tomb are a big constraint that we cannot always overcome. (Mainly off season more of a possiblity) We are so happy to read you had a memorable and fanstastic tour experience with Ami to cherish . Hope to see you again some time travel with Bein Harim.

Wonderful
Apr 2019
We did this tour with Jerry. He was excellent. It was an extremely busy day with people everywhere, and yet he kept us together and gave us history as much as was possible. It was difficult to spend much time in meditation as I was trying to keep my footing, and not bump into people, but it is still worthwhile.
