Istanbul Sightseeing Walking Tour

Overview

Istanbul is the former capital of the Ottoman Empire, a vibrant city filled with magnificent architecture and a rich history as the bridge between east and west. But knowing where to go requires local knowledge, meaning travelers often miss out on hidden attractions. Perfect for first-time visitors, this in-depth guided walking tour will cover the main attractions while also venturing to hard-to-find secret spots.

What to Expect

As the bridge between east and west, Istanbul has been a diverse and culturally rich capital for centuries. The city is packed with architectural marvels and world-renowned historical attractions, but figuring out just where to go takes insider knowledge.

Listen to stories from the heyday of Byzantine and Ottoman rule as you wander the picturesque streets during this unforgettable scenic stroll through one of the world’s most spectacular cities. Perfect for first-time visitors, you'll make your way through all the main historical highlights, from the 6th-century Byzantine cathedral of Hagia Sophia—famous for its stunning gold mosaics—to the Spice Market, which boasts over 100 shops.

But your guide will also show you less visited attractions. Take a peek at Caferaga Medrese, a 16th-century madrasa that is now a handicrafts center. You’ll also discover local haunts and learn where residents of the diverse, sprawling city go for the best Turkish coffee. Cover the top landmarks while also veering off the tourist track to unearth hidden gems and under-the-radar sights.
