What to expect
Make your way to a centrally located meeting point in Chiang Mai, where you’ll be fitted with a bike and helmet. Set out along the Ping River, pedaling with views of mountains, fields, and farms. You’ll pass Wiang Kum Kam, once the capital of the Lanna kingdom, and pause to learn about Thai spirituality at a local Buddhist temple. Next, visit the McKean Rehabilitation Centre, a former lepers’ colony that’s now a refuge for people with physical disabilities. Pedal by an elementary school that serves children from the area’s hill tribes, and see local craftsmen creating pottery using traditional techniques. Make hourly snack stops throughout the ride: Try a sweet at a local bakery, sample market fruits and delicacies, and visit a local restaurant for a light lunch of curried noodles (khao soy kai) that are a Northern Thai classic. The bike tour ends at the original departure point.

This Biking tour is a very different and fun way to see Chiang Mai. You get to see the true colors of the city, learn about the lives of the people, and see some cool things off the beaten path. Koi was our guide and she was very good!

Amazing biking with Benz
We were biking yesterday with Benz. We were the only two so it was kind of a private tour! Benz was amazing! She showed us all the beautiful places and she could tell us a lot about the nature! We would definitely recommend this tour!

GREAT half day bike tour!
Jan 2020
My husband and I are out of shape but young at heart in our early 60's. This reasonably priced tour was great for us. We were lucky enough to have the lovely Koi all to ourselves, and she was a great and informative guide. We saw many things that we would NEVER have seen in a million years had we not done this ride. A cemetery with crematoria, real farmers living super primitive lives- not staged for tourists... and giant catfish to name a few. There were a few scary moments as we drove on main streets and even a highway (for 2 minutes) but Koi was very good at keeping us safe. Having avoided riding a motorcycle for the last 2 weeks I felt a little silly at how reckless we were in those few minutes, but it really was fine. We found that the Thai drivers, at least in this part of the country, were very cautious. Lunch was very authentic- a local place, no other tourists...the nature all around us was beautiful and Koi knew so much about the flora and the fauna and the countryside in general. This was one of our best days in Thailand. The bikes were good, water was provided, and the owner helped us adjust our helmets etc. And yes...a cool surprise awaited us upon our return. HIGHLY recommended...

Great tour
Had a great afternoon with . Enjoyed cycling easily through the south of the city. Seeing some things one would never see on regular tours. Our guide Witt spoke English very well and knew a lot about the area and Buddhism. With a great Thai smile he showed us around.

Great time with a different view of Chiang Mai
Dec 2019
We had a wonderful time with our really knowledgeable guide who was able to show us a different side to Chiang Mai. My favourite bits were her knowledge of herbs and spices, including some very hot tiny chillies. The leprosy colony was interesting and we particularly liked the visit to the school. Lunch was a lovely surprise even though it was included in the itinerary. We highly recommend this tour as most of the time you are away from the hustle and bustle of heavy traffic.

Thank you for joining our Colors of Chiang Mai excursion which really has something for everyone in it. No need to make a food tour as we provide food and snacks along the way with every tour. No need to do a dangerous night tour as the temples close their doors at night and traffic in the evening is increasing. Thank you again and warm regards, Fokke van Egmond

Great way to See another side of Chiang Mai
A crisp morning was a great way to start this bike tour with Benz. 10 out of 10 for our wonderful guide Benz who provided very informative details at each stop. We had no trouble riding the roads and there’s only a few km’s that are on a busy road. The ride takes you through different home styles and ways of life outside of the busy city centre. A good addition to one’s Chiang Mai itinerary of must do’s

Pleasant Experience
Dec 2019
Our half day (5 hour) bicycle tour started almost immediately when we reached the meeting point. Our guide Theo was professional and led us through the routes at a comfortable pace. We cycled on a rather busy road for a while and I was thankful when we finally turned into a bridge that took us into a more quiet and forested area. Cycling through the greenery was what I enjoyed the most. We made a few stops in between, most notable for me were the stops at the primary school and the ruins of Wat E-Kang. Also interesting were the eating stops where we sampled really delicious Khao Soi, and a local bakery where we ate fresh buns filled with floss. In between the stops, however, were long stretches of cycling and at numerous times, I actually found myself feeling rather bored. But that could also be because the sights (padi fields, farmlands, housing estates) were mostly quite familiar sights to me. I also wished there was less riding along busy roads. At one point, we crossed through a large intersection. At another, we were riding on a highway. This did make me feel rather ill at ease although I realised there probably was no other way to return to the starting point. I can imagine less confident cyclists would be rather uncomfortable with that too. All in all, it was a pleasant way to spend the morning and I'd recommend it if you are new to Asia and would like an insight into little known sights of Chiang Mai's countryside. .

Dear Whisker11, Thank you for your review. The busy parts of the tour is for only 3 kilometers of the 25 kilometer ride. Yes we are a bicycle tour , so there is some biking to be done but not longer then 20 minutes till the next stop. The sight along the way are for most people not familiar but new experiences. Sorry that it was not that interesting for you anymore. The last stretch on the highway which is a wide 3 lane road over a bridge is exactly 412 meters long, not something to get unease about in my opinion. All in all you did had a pleasant experiences for which we are very happy. With kind regards, Fokke van Egmond

Unique cycling experience
Dec 2019 • Couples
Tour was great, out of the normal touristic routes, strong historical background, amazing lunch, etc.
We wish we would have booked a full day tour

We met Vit by chance at our hotel. He gave us a ride to the city center just because he saw us leaving and asked us where we were going. He was going to his village so, he didn't even blink and he offered himself to drop us at the city center.
We got to now that he was working for "recreational chiang mai biking" when going downtown while having a normal conversation- Since we love biking, we decided to do a tour with them, what a great decision it was: everything was super easy and making sure we were well taken care off.
From Vit, who could not be a better guide: very good English, empathetic, committed and super skilled in touristic information. And, what's more important, enthusiastic about his job. To His boss, a super nice Dutch man. Facilities and stuff -worldwide known bicycle brand on point, etc.

PS: Mr. Vit is more than a tourist guide for us now, he is our Thai friend.
