Backwaters of Bangkok
4-hour morning tour by longtail boat
From US$38,38
See Bangkok from the water on a small-group tour through the city’s ‘khlongs,’ or small canals. Ride in a traditional long-tail boat down the Chao Phraya River, turning into smaller waterways to observe daily life in the Thai capital, away from the crowds. Add on an optional lunch and visit to two of Bangkok’s top attractions — the royal Grand Palace and Wat Pho, home of the giant reclining Buddha.
What to Expect
Backwaters of Bangkok Tour (4 hours):
Meet your guide and small group of no more than 15 in central Bangkok and climb aboard traditional long-tail boat to launch into the Chao Phraya River. Watch river traffic go by and get fantastic views of modern skyscrapers before cruising into the city’s smaller canals, known as khlongs. Learn about Bangkok’s history and culture from your guide, and visit two hard-to-reach places — Wat Khun Chan temple and the Artist’s House, a restored Thai home transformed into an inviting art gallery and workshop.

Backwaters of Bangkok and Temples Tour (7 hours):
Make a full day of it within afternoon add-on including lunch at a local restaurant and a guided visit to the Grand Palace and nearby Wat Pho. Admire classical Thai architecture and learn about regal customs as you walk through the former royal Siamese court, and then marvel at the giant, gold-plated reclining Buddha that resides in Bangkok's most famous temple.
