Bridge on the River Kwai and Thailand-Burma Railway Tour
From US$70,91
Overview
Visit the “Bridge on the River Kwai” and the Death Railway on a full-day tour from Bangkok that explores Thailand’s wartime history. See Kanchanaburi’s main World War II sites in a single day, including the Kanchanaburi War Cemetery and JEATH War Museum, and ride the Death Railway that was laid by imprisoned laborers. You’ll hear fascinating commentary from your guide along the way, and enjoy convenient pickup at select hotels.
What to Expect
Meet a driver at your hotel in Bangkok, and board a climate-controlled coach for Kanchanaburi, a lush province that’s 80 miles (130 kilometers) west of Bangkok.

You’ll pass sugar cane fields, rice paddies, and pineapple plantations, then make the first stop of the day at the River Kwai, boarding a long-tail speed boat to the site of the bridge, an icon of the classic novel about wartime Thailand.

Next, pay your respects to fallen prisoners of war and laborers at the Kanchanaburi cemetery, and continue to the JEATH War Museum to see WWII artifacts and images. Delve into the jungle where POWs lived and worked as you ride the “Death Railway,” covering tracks built to join the Thai and Burmese railway lines.

After a full day of exploring Kanchanaburi, begin the scenic return trip to Bangkok, where this tour concludes at your original departure point.

Sombre Day

It's a long drive 2.5 hours each way but don't let that put you off. If you are into history it's worth the experience.

Historic tour of world war 2

Really enjoyed the trip, group size was ideal around 10-14 people. Excellent planning, without wasting anytime, we were out of Bangkok. Guide was knowledgeable and kept us with her all the time, and took care of every little detail
