Great trip with a great guide (Shaka)
The tour with Shaka in a vintage minivan was great. We learned a lot about city history, but what's more important about its citizens and day to day life. We went also to where most citizens live, a very poor area. It was a powerful experience. We tried wonderful food from a local market. Our guide Shaka was the best - nice, with a big knowledge, answered all our questions. I definitely recommend a tour with him. PS. I felt safe all the time.

No refunds after the liquidation of the company!
I booked a 7 days tour in Namibia with Wild Dog Safaris for April 2020, after the covid-19, I asked for a refund but they gave excuses to make the reimbursement. After that I realized that the company was in liquidation process, so I contacted the lawyer in Namibia who was the responsible of the legal process (ERASMUS & ASSOCIATES). He answered by email and told me to wait until the liquidation process ends, it was in early 2021. I still do not have news about the liquidation process or the possible reimbursement of the money I paid. I see other persons in the same situation. Do we have to lose that money? Is there any other legal action to be taken? Is there any other person who has received reimbursement already? What a fraud!

        Not what we hoped
Like other reviews we were so looking forward to this once in a lifetime trip. Despite numerous communications Wild dogs have not refunded our money due to our COVID-19 cancellation. They owe us $7000 Nz dollars. They are illegal and dishonest.

Hope not to need a refund
Unacceptable behavior when it comes to refunds. When Covid-19 crisis break out we obviously had no choice but cancelling our trip. We informed Wild Dog Safaris way in advance to their standard terms (which guarantee refund of 80% of your trip cost even with no force majeure condition). For months (from April to July) they just kept us on hold with a dishonest storytelling, saying they would have refunded us as soon as the office had re-opened after the lock down. In July they finally disclosed that they had provided retrenchment package to their employees using funds from upcoming trips, irrespective of our refund request. Covid-19 has for sure been an extraordinary event and it affected us all in different ways. It is unacceptable though that they relied on payments from clients that had already asked for a refund, hiding behind dishonest promises. This makes me doubt of their honesty even in normal times. We are now exposed for thousands of euros and they started not to reply to emails nor phone calls.

        Sounds great, but....
This company sounded amazing, and I wanted to support something local. Due to Covid, I decided to cancel my trip and have my 20% deposit forfeited. Wild Dogs promised several times to refund the other 80%. Four months later and they still have not followed through. I reached out several times and have been ignored. I had people reach out to me on social media also saying they have not been refunded either. This is not an acceptable nor a legal practice.

        Great organization and amazing experience!
I joined a 3-day tour, starting from Swakopmund and finishing at Windhoek. We were 14 people: 12 tourists from all over the world, the namibian tour guide Daniel and the chef Frans. We first visited the flamingos in Walvis bay, then we had a long way accross the desert, some stops at Naukluft Mountains in which Daniel explained the interesting geological history, before stopping at Solitaire to have ice cream (!), drinks and apple pie and taking some pictures in the cars cemetery. We arrived late afternoon in in Sesriem Campsite, very well organized: there is also a bar with cold beers and juices, and you can get safe tap water coming from underground, so you don't need to buy big plastic water bottle in Swakopmund! After relaxing by the swimming pool (!), we climbed a dune to enjoy the beautiful sunset in the desert. The following morning, early wake up to climb Dune 45 and see the stunning sunsrise! Later we visited Deadvley: a unique place in the world! I decided to climb Big Daddy and I saw the breathtaking views of all the area: highly recommended if you are fit enough! After lunch and relaxing around the campsite, when we visited the beautiful Sesriem Canyon. We saw the sunset together with many baboons, then we spent the night under the starry sky. The following morning, a log way to go back to Windhoek, stopping by a green area where we saw many orixes, giraffes and zebras. It was an unforgettable experience and I have so many beautiful memories about this adventure. The guide Daniel was super nice, the chef Frans very professional and prepared also different menu for vegetarians. The only note for improving the service: Daniel should involve more every single tourist, helping everyone to feel part of a group, even people not very proficient in english.

        Excellent itinerary and good guide
This trip was most enjoyable. I was lucky to be invited to stay in lodges even though the tour was camping - the lodge holiday had not been available. The itinerary was great and I particularly enjoyed Fish River Canyon. I was disappointed with the visit to Luderitz as Wild Dogs had not booked the boat trip which I had especially requested. The two catamarans were both chartered by a cruise ship that day and although there were spaces available the timing didn’t fit with Wild a Dogs. But everything else was ok. I liked the guide Marcus who was particularly helpful with information and kept good timing. He also stopped regularly for comfort breaks. I was pleased I did the trip and recommend it - though if you want to do the boat trip in Luderitz maybe book it yourself!

        Amazing experience
We have spent seven days around the south of this beautiful country and we loved it. The tour was very well organized and we was able to see a lot of things in such few days. We're used to camping but the equipment they have is very comfortable. Our guide, George, was well prepared and always available to answer to any our question. He guided us through the different environments one would see in the south, given information about the geology and the different Namibian cultures. And finally, a mention must be made to the excellent chef Paulis that cooked different meals every day. Beside the beauty of the country itself, they both made us want to come back.

Amazing experience with such a good group
I'm just back from the 7 days trip in the south of Namibia and the only word I have in my mind is AMAZING! Wild dog safaris is a really good company, they have a good itinerary and are really well organized but, most important, they have well prepared guides! We were in tour with George as our guide and Paulis as our chef and they were so so good. George was always with us, always ready to amswer our question, he was a good driver and a super friendly member of the group,it was a pleasure discover Namibia with him. Paulis was trating us as a part of a family, everyday we had something new to taste, really good lunches, delicius dinners and fabulous desserts!! Wow! I recommend you wild dog for your trio and I wish you to travel woth these to guys as they will make your trip really much more

        Such an amazing experience!
Thank you so much for the wonderful time we had, Wilddog Safaris!! We went with a group of 14 people on an African adventure with the best guide Daniel and the best cook Stevie :) Everything about the tour was absolutely brilliant: the scenery, the people, the wild animals, the food, the atmosphere, the camping spots, the itinerary,... Can't think of anything that could have been better and miss Africa so much! Especially now it's rainy and gloomy in Europe.

        Fantastic! Excellent! Best holidays!
We made with Wild Dog Safaris the 10 Day Family Adventure Tour in July 2019 with Marcus and Steve. It was fantastic and a great fun for kids and adults! The daily tours were just right - not too long for the children. We saw absolute amazing places and many many animals. Marcus and Steve were perfect guides. Thank you so much for these great holidays in Namibia!

        Incredible customer service
Can't praise Wild Dog Safaris and in particular Liza Kotze enough! I'd originally booked for me and my partner to do a 3 day Etosha trip in 2017, I booked two years in advance and on the way to Africa our flight was cancelled in Zurich and delayed by 10 hours, meaning by the time we got to Namibia our safari would have left. To say we were devastated was an understatement but the guys at Wild Dogs booked us onto the 9 day delta trip in 2019 (the next time we would be able to travel). The trip was so well organised, the camps lovely and guides Gabriel and Jobi very friendly, knowledgeable and wow could Jobi cook! (I'm a gluten free vegan and I still dream about the food he cooked for me!) The tents are very spacious and comfortable. If you are thinking of going just do it, you wont regret it!

        Honoured single booking
I was the only person booked but they did not cancel - instead I had an amazing private tour. Learnt history, ate amazing BBQ and some worms (!) and felt like in only a half day I had a much better appreciation of this city and its people.

This tour exceeded my expectations at a very competitive price point. Office communication was excellent (Elsie and Chantelle), tents were in great shape, everything unfolded on time. No doubt though that the fantastic skills and warm kindness of Jason and Steve made the experience. Jason could spy an animal in the grass like his eyes are binos, he's all over organization, and he's a superb driver. Steve helped on all points, but best of all kept us exceedingly well fed. Can't say enough about this team. Thank you for making my short tour richly rewarding, making the absolute most of the time I had.

I went on the 3 day camping safari to Etosha National Park from Windhoek in December 2017. The trip was amazing and I definitely recommend Wild Dog Safaris to anyone visiting Namibia! The service was great, staff picked me up from my lodging in Windhoek and brought me to meet my excursion group at the Windhoek offices. From there we headed to Okahandja to get groceries before heading further north into Etosha National Park. The campgrounds at Etosha where we stayed (Okaukuejo and Namutoni) were amazing. I particularly loved Okaukuejo with it's flood-lit watering hole where I stayed up nearly the entire night with a front-row seat to watching elephants, rhino, giraffes, hyena, and an entire pride of lions drink from waters. Namutoni was also great and houses a historic fort inside of the campgrounds. Our guide and support staff were also both fantastic at informing us about the wildlife and history of the region! The meals cooked were quite good and the tents were large 4-person tents which had 2 people each assigned to them. Do note that the camping option is true camping, you will be responsible for pitching a tent (equipment is included and assistance provided if needed!) and for helping with cleaning and packing up after meals. The communal aspect of the trip and the amazing campgrounds definitely made this an extraordinary experience. Oh, and how could I forget the incredible park itself. Etosha is truly an amazing park possessing an array of desert and grassland-type landscapes abound with wildlife. Some highlights for us were a sleeping leopard less than 2 meters away form our vehicle, rhino sleeping next to the watering hole by our campsite, numerous lions, two fighting giraffe, and a herd of elephants with newborns.

We joined the three day Etosha camping tour and from the first moment when we were picked up at our accommodation, until we returned three days later, er had a great time. Our guide, Sam, and our cook, Franz, were lovely people, who put us at our ease instantly and we got to know everyone on the trip quickly. It's an all-hands-on-deck experience, helping with food prep and clearing, as well as putting up and striking tents, but that all adds to the fun. Early mornings meant we were ready for our bags at night, but there were plenty of opportunities to see an absolute abundance of wildlife, both at the waterholes and in the wild. So pleased we did this. Thanks Wild Dog, Sam and Franz

I want to make it clear that this is NOT a negative review of our 3-Day Etosha camping tour with Wind Dog Safaris. It was an exciting trip, one that I will cherish forever. However, it is very important that if you take this tour that you are aware exactly what you are getting. I have to say that Wild Dogs website, while not inaccurate, leaves a lot of things unclear or unstated. Their website is a lot slicker and more organized then the actual tour.

Most things about the tour were as described. The tents provided were well designed, large canvas tents. The ones we had seemed fairly new. Although the tents were fine, I would not call this "glamping", a term used to describe more upscale camping accommodations in Africa. You were sleeping on the ground on a foam pad. Apparently, we could have arranged for cots as well, but that option was not made clear at the time of the booking. To be honest, I just assumed that cots would be provided. They were not.

Our driver and cook were very friendly and competent. The WD website states "Limited participation camping is assisted camping with the participation limited to only helping with the tent. No help needed with any food preparation or other camp duties. You can just sit back, relax and let us take care of you." While probably technically correct, the reality of group camping is that everyone eventually gets involved in the setting up of the chairs, tables food, etc. This was not an undue burden, but we seldom just sat back and waited for the staff to take care of us.

The two camping locations had more then adequate facilities with showers, toilets and a store. Our meals, were simple but adequate. The braai the last night was very good.

Be sure of the size of your group. We were a party of two and were incorporated into a larger group of 14. The vehicle used was a Toyota Dyna 14 seater. It did have a "pop up" roof for animal viewing, but it was awkward to use as you had to stand on the seats to get up high enough to see out. Some of the seats had not access to the pop top. Few people made use of the pop up top during the safaris. It did have large windows, but the views varied a lot depending on the location of your seat. We did appreciate the enclosed vehicle, as opposed to the open safari vehicles, because of all of the dust. The vehicle was well suited for highway driving. If the vehicle had air conditioning, they did not use it. It would have helped at points in the trip.

Wild Dog Safaris seems a large company with a nice array of wonderful tours available. I was disappointed with their lack of attention to detail, however. There was some confusion during our first stop to purchase supplies for the trip. Apparently there was a payment issue and our trip was delayed for a while before this was cleared up. Little things, low cost items for the company, would have made the experience much better. For example, providing water, at least initially would have been nice as would a map showing the route we were traveling. Although there was power plug aboard the vehicle, it would have been convenient if adaptor plugs or USB ports would have been available. The driver's narrative was limited. The information provided was interesting, but the driver was not very engaged with the group while we were traveling.

All that said, the viewing the animals at the water holes was spectacular. All that I had hoped for. Etosha is a wonderful location. One that should not be missed.

I am presently in Windhoek—my first trip to Africa—and my friends and I are freshly back from the Etosha. I reached out to Wild Dog Safari, after finding them on the internet, and an on-line inquiry led to a delightful and professional series with exchanges with Chantelle about options. Because of some travel constraints on our end, none of the standard offerings would fit our schedule. So, they adapted a group safari to a three-day private one tailored to our needs.

Our safari was flawless. Orlando, our guide, was highly knowledgeable about the Etosha and the wildlife and culture of the area. He was kind, careful, highly ethical about conservation viewing, and very personable. We could not have had a better guide or experience. We saw three of the Big 5 in one day — rhinos, elephants, and lions plus the full array of other species. The evening accommodations were so comfortable and welcoming to boot!

I would not hesitate to book again with Wild Dog Safaris!!

I was meeting friends in Windhoek for a photographic tour of the desert area of Namibia, but wanted to see wildlife as well, so I booked the Wed-Fri accommodated tour with Wild Dog Safaris. Although I was expecting up to 7 other people, we were just two ladies and a fantastic guide, Raymond, who was extremely knowledgeable, friendly and personable. He adapted the trip to suit the two of us, made sure we saw an amazing array of wildlife, including harder to find cheetah, mongoose, hyena, jackels, white rhino and much more, as well as being able to identify every bird we spotted, allowing me to get fantastic photographs. The accommodation in one of the NWR lodges and in an expecially nice lodge just outside the eastern gate was excellent, the food very good, the wildlife incredible and Raymond a good Namibian ambassador, helping us to gain some understainding of the country and its culture.

this company was amazing. The guides (Marcus and Matthew) were fantastic! Patient, knowledgeable, personable, and helpful! Etosha was the best thing I've ever seen, and Marcus was excellent at spotting animals and stopping for us to admire them. I usually get nauseous on buses and expected to on this tour, but I was totally fine! The vehicles are comfortable and the driving was excellent.
We also did the Soussevlei trip, which was really neat.

Etosha is next level. I got to see every African animal i could have dreamed of seeing. Our tour guides were T and Manfred and they were very friendly and helpful. They worked so hard to try and find Lions and through their efforts and a bit of luck, we succeeded. The lit up watering hole was the coolest thing ever, and I stayed up to watch rhinos wrestling in the water. The watering hole is 24/7 and that is a nice feature if you can't get enough of the wild life show. The camps were in great condition and everything went very well. The meals were great and the staff was very friendly and helpful. Wild Dog Safaris was also a great organization to work with and emailed back in response to all my questions very quickly. I could not have asked for a better trip to Etosha, thank you so much.
