My boyfriend and I did the U street Food Tour with Mary and it was just incredible! Even though we live in DC and already know the city, we got to try different types of food we never had before and also got to know the history of the city! I can say now I appreciate DC even more than I used to and I can’t wait to do the Georgetown and Old Town Alexandria food tours as well!

Learning about DC's rich history really makes the city that much more exciting to live in. Thanks for taking the time to review us in multiple places, Julia!

Excellent food and culture tour
Nov 2021
My friends and I went on the U Street Food, History and Street Art tour in Washington D.C. Mary, the tour owner, was our tour guide and she was great. She was knowledgeable, personable and clearly enjoys doing the tour of the area. We appreciated that some of the money for the tour went back into helping others in the area. The sights and their cultural significance were highlighted and the food was delicious. Enough without being overdone. The only slight complaint was that the cost for the tour was a bit pricey. However, We enjoyed this tour immensely.

Mary's passion for U Street is only paralleled by her passion for giving back to the community. Thanks to your patronage, we were able to not only feed those in need, but support locally owned businesses in an industry that has been struggling as of late. Thank you for the great review!

Soneka’s U Street Tour was a great way to spend the day.
We consumed so much great food and local history/ culture in just 3 hours. Our guide, Soneka was funny, fun, charming and informative, giving us a taste of DC that we had never had before, while making us want to learn more every step of the way. We wish everyone was as good at their jobs as she is, a ray of sunshine on a cloudy day.
Any trip to DC would be improved with this wonderful experience.

Fantastic for Foodies!

We had this booked for us as part of a “surprise” travel adventure (Pack Up + Go). We didn’t really know what to expect as it was our first food tour. It was excellent! Our guide was very knowledgeable about the area as well as friendly and entertaining. The food was delicious—we tried a half smoke from Ben’s Chili Bowl, a vegetarian dish from Habesha Ethiopian Market and Restaurant, and a couple of delicious sweets to finish up the tour. Highly recommend!

Amazing Food & Walking Tour for EVERYONE!
Jul 2021 • Couples
Amazing! Book this and I guarantee that you will not be disappointed. The tour began at Ben’s Chili Bowl where we enjoyed one of their world famous chili dogs (mine was vegetarian!). Following our chili dogs, we sat for a full sized Ethiopian lunch (vegetarian), walked around the corner for a bowl of macaroni and cheese (vegetarian) and ended the food portion of the tour at Colada Shop for guava pastelitos and Jubilee Ice Cream for unique flavors. Do not eat breakfast before your go! That will be your breakfast, lunch, and probably your dinner. Besides the food, the culture, history, and street art portion was eye-opening, insightful, and inspiring. Wear your walking shoes and get ready to fill up with food and knowledge!

Thanks so much for this awesome review!! I'm so glad that you enjoyed our U St tour. And yes, we have vegetarian options at each restaurant and try to accommodate allergies and dietary restrictions (provided you let us know in advance). And yes we like to say that we will feed both your mind and your stomach! :)

Best way to find great food off the beaten path
Stefan and Jason were great! Fun food and great experience on greater U street. Had no idea how rich in history this are was, particularly Black history. Both guides were very knowledgeable and the food was amazing, especially the chili dog and the Mac and cheese. Great way to see the city.

Do this tour for something different and delicious
Mary was such a great guide. There is so much history in the U Street area and it was just wonderful to taste a part of that. Mary was such a delight. Wonderful personality. Knowledgeable and Funny yet chill and warming. The food was great. Such a variety of different tastes. Everyone in the group had a different favorite dish. I recommend this for anyone looking to get a different view of the city than the usual Capitol monuments and memorials.
