      Great way to see DC!
Great way to stay warm and travel around DC. Our driver was Sarge, he was great! Entertaining but very educational. We added the Arlington package onto our tour. Definitely a must, we spent 3 hours there.

      Monument by Moonlight On NYE!
Monuments By Moonlight Dec. 31, 2023 Tour Guide: Mike We have been visiting DC for years and this is the first time that we have taken the Old Town Trolley: Monuments By Moonlight tour. What a fantastic time! Our tour guide Mike was very knowledgeable and entertaining, and knew exactly how to help his guests enjoy the tour. We learned more from our guide Mike about DC and the monuments then we did from any of the tour guides we met in the museums during our stay. It was pretty magical to see the monuments lit up at night and to tour DC on New Years Eve. We dressed for the weather with scarves, hats and gloves knowing it was a cold blustery evening and appreciated that the plastic window covers were rolled up to provide a better view of the city sites. I think the view would not have been as good if the cloudy plastic window covers were down. Guests switched seats for those who wanted to sit near windows with the plastic window covers down and away from the cold wind. Mike the Guide had the tour perfectly timed with stops at a variety of monuments, so we never felt rushed. Because the trolley travels around the sites, there is not a bad seat on the trolley. My favorite was walking through out the Roosevelt Monument, which was serene and different in the evening. The christmas tree at the Capital was a beautiful site as well. I would recommend making any of the Old Town Trolley Tours one of the first activities to a Washington DC trip in order to gain a good overview of the monuments and sights, more than one would get by just going into the museums. So glad we were able to close out the New Year with Mike the Guide on the Monuments by Midnight tour. The Old Town Trolley will now be a regular part of our visits to DC! Well worth the money and time!

      Do not recommend!
Very disappointed. Your claims to be on Forbes top 10 and there is no possible way that is accurate. We went on a Friday night in January. It was very cold outside and it was starting to rain. They had us line up outside at 6, plenty of room inside where it was warm, and the trolley didn’t arrive until 6:30. The driver is also the tour guide so amongst information being given to you as fast as the driver can talk, you get lots of commentary on traffic conditions. It would have been much better if the person talking was not also driving. The history was being given to you so fast, you really couldn’t enjoy any of it. “On your left, on your right, on your left, on your right.” Sometimes the left and right were confused, because the driver is ….driving. It was also rainy, the windows fogged up so bad you could hardly see out. Last year I took a golf cart tour of the monuments and it was a much better experience. I do not feel like this was worth $70 a person. Very disappointing.

      Amazing Views
I’ve been to DC before and wanted to try something different. I heard the monuments at night were beautiful so I booked this tour. I love this company because they always deliver. It was a cold night but the trolley was zipped up tight! The entire ride was nice and cozy. Our tour guide Rae was funny and knowledgeable. She gave us ample time to take pictures and made this tour more than memorable. The monuments by moonlight were absolutely gorgeous!

BEST WAY TO SEE WASHINGTON DC
Ok I wish I could add this review as earlier than 2023…. But as couldn’t I have dated it as Feb 2023….though myself and my daughter visited DC in MAY 2019😅 thought I must put in my review. Being an foreigner travelling to the USA with my youn daughter was a bit daunting task as we had exactly one day to spend in Washington DC, as we disembarked at the union station I saw the DC Trolley Tours , and quite frankly decided on the spot that tha was the best way to see the city with short time we had. We got ourselves on the DC TOUR + Arlington Cemetery, they added the Potomac River Evening Cruise as complimentary( that was a fantastic addition) . The drivers and the commentary was excellent, the two of us had a fantastic day. Arlington Cemetery got us all teared up!! Though this was pre Covid times , I am headed back to DC for a short holiday come May 2024, looking forward to seeing the city once again with you as myself and my husband would be travelling together. All the very best to you and your team. Wishing you all Peace and happiness in the year 2024!!

      Relaxing and enlightening tour experience
The old-time trolley is the most convenient way to navigate Washington DC, especially with a family group. It's very convenient to park near the welcome center. We had a seamless experience getting on and off the trolley bus, and we were able to ask questions and stay dry on an overcast, rainy day. Our tour guide birdie was extremely clear and knowledgeable. We had her for the ride back after it started to rain.

Excellent Tour, Guides and Customer Service!
We thoroughly enjoyed our Moonlight tour with James and Chris. James is a wealth of knowledge and makes the tour very entertaining. He kept our interest the whole night and Chris was our fabulous driver who kept us safe in the DC traffic and on time with our tour. These two employees should be rewarded for excellent customer service. They are both an asset to your company. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year from the Aussies! 🎄🎅

      A really great tour
MJ was a great tour guide. Even my teenage son enjoyed it. The trip was in an open air trolley, but there were 3 bus fulls of tours that night so other groups were in a fancier bus (get there early if you want that option, I think). The tour started with a drive around the capital and east side of the Mall with commentary from the driver, then we had 3 stops for closer looks: The first at the MLK Jr memorial & FDR memorial, with the Tidal basin view, about 25 minutes stop, the second at the Korean War memorial, Lincoln memorial (also best view of the Washington monument), and Vietnam war memorial, about 35 minutes. The third at the Iowo Jimo Marine War Memorial, with a drive along the Arlington cemetery, a quick stop, but a beautiful memorial, and something you wouldn't normally see unless you went out of your way. A great tour to orient yourself to the city and see the most important sites.

      Well worth the money
Better than expected. Comfortable bus and excellent professional driver/guide. We saw all the popular monuments and the last stop was a momentus ending to a great tour. My advice to all is bring an extra jacket. You want the windows open to see but it can also get chilly.

The perfect way to see DC!!
Our bus driver was incredible!! His name was Smiley - applicably named! He was engaging and very energetic - perfect for a night tour. He gave us great photo opportunities and cool trivia that you couldn’t find anywhere else! I thought it would be too cold for the night tour (it was around 20 degrees) but they winterized the trolly so it was perfect! There were also a few opportunities to get out and walk around with a few of the monuments. All in all - a perfect way to see DC!!!

Explore all of D.C in less than three hours!
I heard about the Monuments by Moonlight Tour through the JW Marriott hotel. When I checked in, they recommended taking the trip to see the highlights of D.C in just a couple of hours. Since I was only staying for a few nights, I figured it wouldn't hurt to try it out. Given that I took this tour in the winter, it was inevitable that the trolley would be freezing cold. There are curtains inside that you can use to cover the windows, but you feel awkward having to ask other people near you if it's okay to bring them down since they obscure your view and picture-taking. But, we didn't resort to that until the very end of the tour. I suggest you bundle up nicely, with a puffy coat, hat and all to be safe. However, the cold didn't disturb my enjoyment of this trip, mostly thanks to our amazing tour guide. I'll never forget MJ and his clever wit guiding us through D.C, presenting many locations that held American history. I loved how organized he was with our group as well. It's stressed that we are allowed to get off at three stops, but we should never steal someone else's seat, and if we want to depart from the trip for any reason, then we must let him know. That's great to lessen any chaos that could come from the tour, and I appreciated how he repeated those rules throughout the evening. I'd recommend this to anyone who has a brief stay in D.C and wants to see the best of the area as quickly as possible. But, it can easily be a joy for anyone else to join on this excursion, as long as they are ready to take lots of pictures and listen in on some fun facts from a charming guide. You may not have MJ when it's your turn to visit, but I'm confident the other guides are just as good.

      Unprofessional Drivers
I could never recommend this tour base on a lack of professionalism by one of the bus drivers. It only took a short 5 min trip back to the welcome center for this driver, who went by the stage name M DOT, to give a public commentary on his disgust for other drivers on the road while his mic was on for us all to hear, meanwhile going down the wrong streets and having to make a u turn blocking traffic on a busy Sat. My son and I tried to engage, giving friendly hello and thank you for the trip only to be met by a total disregard for us. While busy griping over other drivers he admitted he missed a stop on the tour and was heading back to the welcome center instead, refusing those who intended to get off the option as the day was ending. It was a disappointing end to the tour as he mumbling and barely intelligible through his commentary, I couldn’t catch two words of it.

Went to the first pickup point, and the driver went right by us. When we finally caught up and asked where to go for the pickup, she waved her hand and pointed in an incorrect direction. The wait, although supposed to be 30 minutes or less, was far longer, and when waiting adds up for multiple stops, your whole day is wasted. In addition, the drivers tended to be abrasive and monotone, making the bus less of an enjoyable experience and more of a painfully loud shuttle you can’t wait to get off of. When we did finally finish at the Lincoln memorial, we did not consider getting back on for a moment, and opted for a taxi. Very easy way to waste $180 and time that could’ve been spent at memorials.

I brought my parents that does not speak English to Washington and, before buying the tickets, I called support to ask about headsets with other languages audio to make the bus ride more meaningful for them… They told me that there were no such headsets anymore BUT, that the app should contain instructions in Portuguese (audio) for every single visiting point….
I’m usually pretty good with technology but I could not make the Audio app work to anyone (my father has a Motorola, my mother a Samsung my wife, my kids and I, IPhones… and it does NOT work in any phone…)
I called the support line and stayed waiting for more than 15 minutes with no answer…
Really frustrating as I completely lost the entire ride trying to install app, look for audio in other languages, and trying to translate all the driver was saying to my parents… really not a good choice.
If I knew it, I’d go to the other bus company directly as I know they have the physical audio headsets…
I really do not recommend for who does not speak English.

Very disappointed in this tour, it wasn't what we were told. The first guide we had spoke really fast, never slowed down as he talked so we could actually see the sites. We decided to go again, this guide was better and get off at the stops we wanted to see, when doing this you end up walking a long distance then have to wait for another trolley which could take as long as 20 minutes for the next trolley. We got back on to try the next stop drive and advised us to get off at stop 5 instead of 6 to see the Capital, I wouldn't advise this as it was a lot of walking with no clear directions. By the time we got there the visitors center was closed. Then comes the main complaint no direction as to where to catch the trolley for the next stop. We had to ask officers for directions, no signs anywhere. We would not recommend this especially for the money we paid, we feel we got nothing but a quick drive through a crowd.

The one driver that we were able to experience was awesome. She was very personable, gave great information, and made the ride very entertaining. She is the only reason I gave 2 stars. After we hopped off, we were not able to get back on. We waited for over 35minutes (I stopped counting) for the first bus to come. It must have been full because the driver disregarded the 9 people standing there and just kept driving. The 2nd bus did the same thing. At that point we began walking. This is so frustrating. We paid almost $50/person which is no small thing for a family of 6! This is so unacceptable. Helpful info: Big bus had more frequent busses pass by, and they weren't full.
Stay on the bus and hear all the city info because there's no guarantee that you'll actually get to do the "hop on" portion of the the hop on hop off.

This tour was a huge disappointment and not worth the money. First, the trolley runs AT MOST every 30 minutes (according to the driver on November 13; maybe it fluctuates seasonally), but there was absolutely no way to find out this information before booking (I called the customer service number as directed on the website to find schedule information, and waited on a very long hold, and then was transferred to the "local office" which went to voicemail), and there is no live tracker to find out how long until the next trolley arrives. There also is no schedule so you have no idea how long until the next trolley arrives. We waited over 30 minutes at the first stop, and after that were very reluctant to get off to visit any of the monuments or sites because we didn't want to potentially wait 30+ minutes to get back on, so we just rode one loop and took pictures from the trolley. The lack of a live tracker in 2023 is incredible, but I guess they got us, because we never would have purchased tickets had we known. The driver's narration was very basic, it was mostly just pointing out sites ("now we are passing the X museum... now we are passing the Y museum") without really any interesting historical context or story-telling. For the price, especially if you are more than one person, absolutely just take ubers and skip this tour. Better yet, ride the D.C. Circulator public bus which is $1, reliably runs every 10 minutes, and makes a loop with 15 stops that is pretty similar to this trolley route.

I'm giving two stars because the view sitting up high was very good.

Went to DC and paid for the Trolley. What a scam! It seemed they only had one trolley in circulation because we had to wait for over 45 minutes and the trolley never showed up. Called and said 10-15 more minutes. We ubered instead and got to our destination. Their operating hours are 9-5, at 4:00 pm is the last boarding and we were not done! Their hours need to be extended until 8 or 9 pm! We couldn't get off and on without having to wait another hour for the next trolley. In short, don't buy this tour-not worth it!

Excellent Hop-in Hop-off old trolley tour. The bus is big and spacious, it has stop at union station. If you are coming by train, can catch it just after main hall exit. Frequency of service was good , as it was Sunday. You may note that over weekends or public holidays the traffic is low in DC and trolley tour goes around quickly. You need to reserve free passes for museum in advance, via official museum website. I was able to get for National Aerospace Museum on same day. Everday at 8:30 AM / 12:30 PM limited free passes are available, need to be fast. Please see change in timing for limited free passes everyday, if you cannot book in advance.

This tour would have been perfect had the busses ran every 30 minutes as advertised. Often the busses would be more like 45 minutes and most times were full. Due to Covid the buses were restricted to the number of passengers for social distancing, but they either sold too many tickets or should have had more buses running.

We have always done Old Towne Trolley tours when visiting DC. This time, there was definitely a difference. We did the two day hop on hop off and, honestly didn’t even use it the second day. The primary issue is the lack of frequency of trolleys at the stops. They advertise < 30 mins, but we found ourselves waiting longer than that at each stop. We actually could walk from one stop to another way faster than waiting for a trolley. Additionally, at some stops, there is confusion about where drivers will stop. The Lincoln Memorial, specifically had drivers stopping at different areas-and there was no sign at that stop, or if there was, no one could find it-not even the drivers.
Another issue was that sometimes the trolleys were full so they didn’t stop to pick up people. This happened with a trolley that we were on, I can’t imagine how frustrating it must have been for people waiting at those stops.
The overriding issue might be that they are operating less trolleys than they were in the past and this is leading to long wait times and occasionally missed stops.
Once we were on the trolley, the experience was good. The drivers we had were friendly, knowledgeable, kind, and skilled. They had their script, but also would make recommendations and highlight individual things as we passed and tried to be helpful in terms of drop off and pick up points.
Sadly, I’m fairly certain this will be our last time with this company.
