Overview

Breeze by the entrance lines of Poland’s UNESCO World Heritage Site, Wieliczka Salt Mine, with this tour. Along with a skip-the-line admission ticket, this tour provides round-trip transport form Krakow and bottled water to keep you hydrated during the trek underground. Plus, you can learn information about the mine from your guide you wouldn’t learn if traveling alone, and a headset is offered so you can clearly hear the commentary as you go.

What to Expect

If you're staying at select Krakow hotels, begin your tour with convenient pickup. Otherwise, meet your guide and group at a central location. Climb aboard a minivan, and enjoy the scenery on the 10-mile (16-kilometer) ride to the UNESCO World Heritage-listed Wieliczka Salt Mine.

Once you arrive, start your tour of the mine. Learn about its origins in the 13th century from your guide. Ascend almost 450 feet (135 meters) into the earth, including a climb down 350 steps and a walk through a 2-mile (3-kilometer) network of tunnels. Take in vast chambers decorated with salt carvings, a chapel decorated with salt chandeliers, and caverns hosting salt-rich lakes. Throughout your guided tour, listen to your guide's informative commentary through provided headsets.

Climb back to the surface for the ride back to Krakow. Get dropped off at your original departure point at the end of this tour.

Worst tour so far

We were supposed to take stairs down and we used the elevator. The guide girl didn't understand the device for talking wasn't working well at distance and we had to repeat so SEVERAL times. I wouldn't have come if I knew it was kike this.

An excellent trip. Melanie, our guide, made it so interesting. Would say this is a must when visiting Krakow. Fascinating. The whole trip from beginning to end was so efficiently organised and enjoyable. There is a toilet stop half way through the tour which I...More

Highly recommended Martin was excellent

Went to the salt mines with Martin, who was really awesome. Professional and very friendly. The tour itself was priced reasonably and all in all I can't fault the communications when booking either etc. Would use these guys again.

I'd say 1hour 40m. Then there is free time at the end to go on the train, watch movie, interactive activities, etc or just leave via the lift.
