Overview
Even with just half a day to spare, get out of Kraków and visit one of Poland’s most cherished monuments on a guided tour of the Wieliczka Salt Mine. Get picked up at your hotel for an easy journey to the UNESCO World Heritage Site, where you’ll descend deep underground to explore a vast network of historic mining tunnels, saline lakes, and intricate salt sculptures carved over centuries.
What to Expect
After pickup at your Kraków hotel, travel for about an hour to reach Wieliczka Salt Mine, one of the oldest and largest salt mines in the world. With your included entrance fee, enter the mine and descend more than 200 steps into an expensive underground network. A guide will show you the way through a maze of tunnels, chambers, and stairways built over eight centuries.

Learn about the fascinating history of the mine and browse a collection of antique mining equipment that dates back to the Middle Ages. Breathe deep in the mine’s mineral-rich microclimate, which is thought to have health benefits, and admire detailed shrines and sculptures carved entirely from salt rock.

You’ll be dropped off at a convenient point in central Kraków after the tour. As a bonus, receive a free Kraków sightseeing audio guide when you book.

Informative....but...

A good experience and worth seeing but queues to get in and queues at every stage of the tour and queues to get out. Earphones less than adequate even after changing devices and LOTS of stairs going down.

Tour too crowded and very rushed but mines were interesting

The english tour we were attached to had far too many people. If you were not near the front when you arrived at a stop you could not see anything let alone get any photos. It also seemed we were being rushed around virtually the...More

Wish I'd seen mention of the 800 steps to climb down before booking

And the km of passages to walk along between areas of interest. Our guided tour was more of a route march than a gentle stroll.

We found a couple of tour operators close to our hotel and asked there. Be aware though, that you will be going at a busy time of year. We went mid-June and the first operator could not accommodate us. Luckily the next... More
