A great day, topped off with a sparkling commentary!
Jul 2021
A great day out, and so glad we did it with Phil to benefit from his extensive knowledge of the area. A slight variation from the norm I think as one of the normal venues was closed, so had a lovely pub lunch at The Swan Hotel in Greytown, and dinner at the Union Square bistro at the Martinborough Hotel. In between was a trip around the south east coast to the end of the road at the Cape Palliser lighthouse. Views across Cook Strait to the Kaikoura Range, tractors lining the beach at Ngawi, wonderful views of the seals at their colony, all part of a very rewarding day! Thanks to Phil, and we'll be back.

Great food, wine and some outdoor wet and wild sights.
Jun 2021
In spite of cold wind and rain we had an excellent tour with Phil. We really appreciated his driving skills through the winding mountain pass into the wine region. Quick but delicious stops at Cheese Shop and Chocolate shop before a fabulous lunch and wine tasting. Everything was delicious! Then on to more wine tastings, getting up close to playful fur seals, climbing up to a very high lighthouse, enduring high winds up there, and finally to another delicious meal before being dropped off safely back at our accommodation. Swing bridge walk wasn't an option as it was being repaired, but Phil did take us to a filming site for one of the Lord of the Ring movies instead. A great way to see and taste some of the excellent offerings in this part of New Zealand.

Wonderful day out in the Wairarapa!!
Jun 2021 • Friends
What an awesome day out!! Philip was a great tour guide and showed us so much over the 10 hours we were with him! Highlights for me were the beautiful scenery, the fur seal colony, the wild coast and lighthouse, and not having to drive!! Loved the chocolate tasting and the ‘’Savvies’’ at the wineries. Loved it all!! Totally recommend for those with limited time in NZ and want to see more than just the city.

A wonderful day out!
I really appreciated that Philip ran this 10 hour trip with just me along for the ride. The two wine tastings were wonderful and the lunch platter at Poppies was delicious. The chocolate stop was greatly appreciated! The drive around the coast was beautiful and I absolutely loved stopping to see the seals. I climbed the 253 steps to the lighthouse at Cape Palliser - well worth it for the view. Dinner at the Lake Ferry hotel was also delicious. Thank you Philip for a lovely day.

The highlight of our Wellington visit was meeting up with Philip who drove us to the Wairapa visiting so many interesting places. Although every one was a gem in its own right we especially enjoyed Poppies Vineyard with its gourmet lunch and exquisite wines. Cape Palliser was outstanding with the lighthouse a sentinel over the rugged coastline. Thank you Philip for such a memorable trip.

Wellington Vacation
Philip was our tour guide and he went out of his way to show us an awesome tour. The wineries were very good and the Rose way better than we thought. The stop at the Olive turned out to be wonderful. Even a stop to see seals. But the best was yet to come with the Lighthouse.

Best Excursion Ever
Dec 2019
My husband and I took the full day tour with Phil. We travel a lot and have taken more than 100 excursions around the world, but we agreed that this was the best of all. Phil led a scenic tour through the beautiful countryside, including a forest visit that included a trek across a rope bridge. We then visited a cheese shop where we bought a just-made lovely cheese for consumption later. Then it was on to a boutique winery, where we had a delicious lunch sampler of cheeses, dips, breads, salmon, beef and other delicacies. The excellent wine -- served by the owner, and only available there or online -- and lovely tasting room and vineyard were a real treat. We toured a second larger winery where we enjoyed tasty cellar selections before we hit the coast. There we stopped at panoramic lookout points and got an up-close look at a seal colony with lots of cute pups. Next we visited the Cape Palliser Lighthouse where we worked off lunch by scaling its 370+ steps, well worth the spectacular view up top. Dinner followed at the Lake Ferry Hotel, with a wonderful beach view and the best John Dory fish fry and fish chowder we have had. All the way Phil shared interesting information about the history, fauna and flora of the area. We highly recommend this tour to get a memorable taste of a lovely part in New Zealand.

Perfect full day adventure!
Nov 2019
This day trip is perfect if you're looking to fit in a lot of different things into one day! There's a bit of hiking, wine tasting, site-seeing, etc. and our tour guide was fantastic, giving us some history and answering any questions we had all along the way. I would highly recommend this to anyone as there's really something for everyone in this tour.
