Yarra Valley Wine and Wildlife Day Trip from Melbourne Including Healesville Sanctuary

Overview
Just an hour east of Melbourne, the Yarra Valley is one of Australia’s most popular wine regions. On this guided tour, combine a morning visit to the Healesville Sanctuary—where you can spot kangaroos, koalas, wombats, and other native wildlife—with an afternoon in the lovely Yarra Valley. Two wine tastings, a delicious winery lunch, and convenient round-trip transportation are included.
What to Expect
After pickup from your Melbourne hotel, set out on the 1-hour drive to the Healesville Sanctuary, a nonprofit conservation center home to over 200 animal species. Your prepaid tickets get you straight inside, so you can spend the entire morning exploring the wildlife sanctuary and spotting native Australian animals such as kangaroos, koalas, emus, wombats, and platypuses.

Continue to the Yarra Valley, where the first stop is Yering Station. After a lovely lunch at the restaurant looking out over the vineyards, take a tour of the historic winery and sample their fine wines.

Your second wine tasting is at De Bortoli Winery, the valley’s largest wine producer. Enjoy a guided tasting and sample a selection of red, white, sparkling, and dessert wines paired with a selection of regional cheeses.

Return to Melbourne via the scenic towns of Steels Creek and Christmas Hills. Your tour ends back at your hotel.

Healesville Sanctury

Took interstate friends who hadn't been there for over 10 years and they noticed the changes. Enjoyed the day as we spent 6 hours and had a pleasant snack for lunch there as well.
