Tour the township with your local guide, appreciate the artwork and craft, taste local cuisine and coffee and meet other entrepreneurs. Tour guide no showed
I booked via Viator. Tour guide no showed. I saw the email but it was midnight before my morning tour. Very disappointing and I should have been warned ahead of time.

    Perfect Art and Community Tour
I received a tour from Saliegh this past November. I am finally getting around to writing reviews for my experiences. He was absolutely wonderful! I learned so much about the art and community in Woodstock. I told my students about the experience and everyone who has asked me about my travels to Cape Town. If you are ever in Cape Town, you must find some time to do this tour.

Great way to see Cape Town Street Art
We loved this Juma Street Art Tour. Not only did we see street art we never could have found, our guide was knowledgeable, and also was great at fielding all kinds of Cape Town (and South Africa) questions. We ran long because we asked so much, but instead of rushing us she checked with everyone to get a sense of all those on the tour. I highly recommend it.

    Fun Woodstock street art tour
We enjoyed our street art tour so much. It was a lovely walk through the colourful streets of Woodstock with Shameelah and Almaya her little sister who was adorable. Shameelah was very friendly and aims to please. She wanted us to see all and didn’t mind that we went a little over time. I would have like to meet Juma! I was wondering about the security issue! I was also waiting for the water which was meant to be included but wasn’t forthcoming?? I recommend this activity! I’ve been wanting to do it for so long and glad I finally did

AMAZING EXPERIENCE AND GREAT TOUR GUIDE
I was fortunate enough to go on a educational tour with Juma's Art Tour. It was a worthwhile experience which I highly rate and recommend. The tour was very informative, educative, and fun. Our tour guide Zachariah was great in explaining all the amazing art we saw on tour and the explanations and stories which goes with it was mind-blowing. Thank you Juma and Zachariah for a great tour and experience. I will definitely be back for more! One Love

Street art tour Woodstock Cape Town
Spent a very stimulating few hours exploring the art , graffiti and murals in the streets of Woodstock Cape Town in the capable hands of our knowledge guide Zakaria. Zakaria is a local and so was able to give us an insider’s perspective of the street art and the Woodstock area.

This is a MUST DO activity in Cape Town
I did the Township Option 2 tour, but also got a taste of the art in Woodstock beforehand. Juma has great knowledge about the art, and is really involved in the community. I will be honest - I was a bit worried about going to the Township since I have media-fed impressions of what it is. I was COMPLETELY wrong. This visit will challenge every pre-conceived notion you have about Townships in South Africa and give you incredible appreciation and understanding. You just have to do it. Juma is a wonderful guide, he will answer all your questions and you will meet people in the community and the kids will want to high five you, it's heart-warming.

    Thought provoking experience
We booked this as our son has just finished his art A level. It is so much more than a street art tour with Zac our guide being a local who spoke passionately about the cultural and physical changes occurring in his neighbourhood. The art itself is emotive and brilliantly executed but the challenge of gentrification is also very thought provoking. We went on a Sunday when only locals are really about and found it very authentic . Thank you Zac. A highlight of our 3 weeks in SA.

    Street Art Tour
This tour should be listed as one of the best things to do in all of Cape Town! We went to Juma’s website, selected option two, the one hour Woodstock Street Art Tour, and we were good to go for the next morning. We took an Uber to the location and met up with our guide who was incredibly personable and knowledgeable. Juma even came by on his bicycle while we were on the tour and chatted with us. We got a personal tour of the neighborhood and the beautiful street art of this part of Cape Town. For those who are worried about safety, don’t be, you are taken care of the whole time. Don’t miss out on this opportunity to visit this rapidly changing neighborhood and learn from lifelong locals. Enjoy!

    Juma township experience
Juma meet us at a great coffee shop owned by a lovely guy with a wonderful story about starting up in the township of Khayelitsha. There are middle class permanent homes there and some very temporary ones too. We felt very welcomed as Juma took us (a family of 4- two teenagers) around the community. We walked through the Main Street and then went to meet Mama Irene and another family who welcomed us into their homes. What an experience!!! Could never had done this without doing this tour.. tour sounds like the wrong word because he seems like a friend who explains what is happening in his town. We got to see the art and garden projects that are his initiatives to give fresh food and veggies and to brighten up their homes. If the weather was better we would have done the 5.5hr or the whole days as Woodstock Art is amazing. We were able to drive ourselves around but I can see the combined tour would be very cool. Spinach King was our last stop... what a success story. Yummy smoothies and bought some bread to take with us. Do the tour, Juma is a very friendly, cool guy who has been through so much but is so very happy to share.

    Walking Tour in Woodstock
Had an amazing time. Zach was our guide and is so sweet. The art work is wonderful. After the tour we stopped by the old biscuit mill. They have a great food tent. The murals are constantly changing and new additions all the time. Great artist community that paints the walls. When back in South Africa would love to go on another tour again.

    Fabulou Street Art Tour
I really enjoyed the tour and have actually done it twice now, the second time I took some friends along. You get to learn about the city and its people while experiencing the beautiful street art. You learn something about each artist and their unique murals. I highly recommend this tour!!

Woodstock Street Art tour was great
We enjoyed every minute of the tour and it was one of the best things we did in Cape town. Highly recommended! Our young guide (Zack) was absolutely fantasic. He knew a lot of things and showed us some hidden details you cannot experience on your own. We are sure he will become a great artist some day, too!

A tour with Juma Art Tours is the way to go. From start to finish, my experience was unforgettable and meaningful. Seeing how Juma has taken his passion, vision and creativity for his community in Khayelitsha was powerful—bringing art, cycling, education and lots of love to everything he does. Meeting incredibly talented artists was a huge highlight. Nomonde provided so much insight during her portion of the tour. She was friendly, professional, open and honest. And seeing Maninzi’s art throughout the community and then meeting him in person was amazing. Don’t miss this opportunity to be welcomed into this growing community. Lastly, shuttle service is available, which I highly recommend. Ishmael was able to get me to and from Khayelitsha with ease, and I learned a lot from him.

One of the best & most memorable experiences we had in Cape Town. My wife & I joined Juma and guide Abby on a tour of Khayelitsha, focusing on street art and meeting young artists and touring informal neighborhoods and talking to residents. Very enlightening and meaningful. You have not fully experienced South Africa until you have experienced township life. Well worth it.

An eye opener. Great to see a young vibrant community with art as their first love. We were shown around the township. Had an an excellent coffee at Siki's Kofee Kafe. How hie has turned his moms garage into an enterprising business. Also how people live in the COVID world with a whole level of shacks - level1- being built to house otherwise homeless people. Felt safe and secure at all times. Nomonde was a top guide. Perfect English with an excellent knowledge of her surroundings and environment. Her brother is the main artist and we went to their house to see how they lived in the community. A real eye opener.

Exceptional trip to the township! We had a guide who loved her neighborhood and who wanted to share her daily life. She introduced us to interesting people, showed symbolic places, it was great!
We felt almost like visiting friends, it was warm, simple, tailored to us. We will come back !

Arranged a 1 on 1 private with concierge at my hotel. The tour was amazing. Went to a Sunday church service, visited a local souvenir shop owned by women and went to a Braai barbecue mall, food was delicious. Highly recommend creating your own personal tours.

If you're thinking about doing a township tour but not sure for whatever reason, do it! I contacted Juma because I needed respondents for my masters thesis in Khayelitsha. At first, I was a bit hesitant because I had heard a few negative stories about the township and I was planning booking the tour as a girl alone. However, my worries turned out to be unnecessary!

Juma is wonderful person and as described on the website, he promotes sustainable tourism. Therefore, it was very important to him that the people we would speak to that day, would be left behind in a good state. For me, this meant that after the interviews I would give the families a financial compensation for their efforts. Once in the township, he showed me all the good parts (which are unfortunately less known), stayed with me the whole day, helped me with connecting to 7 wonderful respondents and translate their answers and explained me all the details of the daily life and the built environment of Khayelitsha.

There was no moment where I felt unsafe and I think you can't go to Cape Town without visiting a township (with a guide such as Juma). The city center is nice, but in these places the real people live their daily lives. I will never forget this experience. Thanks so much Yuma!!

We got to know Khayelitsha through the experience of the people that live there and contribute to the community. Their stories, their Ubuntu lifestyle, their passion and creativty, are very inspiring! We felt very welcome and left with a warm heart.
