Meet a driver at your hotel (selected areas only) for the scenic trip to Mauna Kea State Park, passing between Mauna Kea and Mauna Loa volcanoes. The first stop of the day is a catered picnic lunch at Mauna Kea State Park before heading to Rainbow Falls, King Kamehameha Statue, and Kilauea, Hawaii’s most active volcano.
At Kilauea National Park, tour the fascinating volcanic landscape, including steam vents, the smoke plume from Halemaumau Crater, and Thurston Lava Tube, stopping at Jaggar Museum to see the caldera. When the sun begins to set, sit down to a dinner at Kilauea Lodge, dining on your choice of entree and drink with soup, salad, and bread served alongside.
After dinner, head to the Jaggar Museum again to watch the nighttime glow, then relax on the way back to your hotel, making a short stargazing stop if weather permits.
