Overview

Explore the highlights of Kona on this convenient, all-day tour with hassle-free round-trip transportation. Sip Kona coffee on a plantation, observe turtles on the black sand beaches at Punalu’u Beach Park and hike through lava tubes to Halema’uma’u Crater with an expert guide leading the way.

What to Expect

Your tour begins with pick up at your Kona or Waikoloa hotel where you’ll meet your guide, board an air-conditioned bus and set out for your first stop of the day. Upon boarding the bus, receive an iPad that can be used for the duration of the tour. Take photos and videos, research information, and play games or watch movies on it while traveling between the sites.

Make your first stop of the day at the Coffee Belt in the uplands above Kona. Visit a coffee plantation to learn how coffee is made before enjoying a light snack and a cup of coffee.

Next, the tour heads to the south end of the island for a stop at Punalu’u Beach Park. This scenic spot is known for its Hawaiian green sea turtles. Take a walk down the black-sand beach and see if you spot any hanging out on the sand.

Hop back in the vehicle and drive to Hawaii Volcanoes National Park for a short hike with your guide. Walk through a naturally formed lava tube that was created by the swelling and cooling of an underground river of lava. Hike until you reach the rim of Halema’uma’u Crater and watch the steam rise as you listen to the hiss of volcanic gas. As the sun sets the crater emits an orange glow from the lava lake inside. The temperature at the volcano’s summit can be chilly at night, so make a stop to enjoy a warm dinner of tasty soup served with bread and dessert.

After dinner, board the vehicle for the journey back to your hotel.
