- chrisandhelenfry00Great sand boarding tripMy husband did the sand boarding trip with Robert and I was the photographer! It was a fantastic experience. Robert was very personable and professional and it was great that we were the only ones on the dunes. The views are fantastic and my husband who is a snowboarder thoroughly enjoyed the experience. You have to be reasonably fit to keep climbing back up the dunes but well worth it ( I’m told!) We swam in the river then Robert then took us for a boat trip up the river which was lovely. Thoroughly recommend this activity and thank you Robert.
- Fearless4163534332100Horrible experienceLoad shedding then 6 hour power outage then when power came on plugs didnt work so no tea or coffee. The beds were hard and uncomfortable. The R2500 breakage fee were not stated clearly in the terms and conditions. Some of the sliding doors upstairs wouldnt open.
- JudyH224400Unforgettable experienceOvernight canoeing trip on the Sundays river was an experience not easily forgotten. It is a 12.5km canoe trip on the fastest flowing river in South Africa. It was our first time to participate in any canoeing adventure. What an awesome day it was. Despite one of our team capsizing 3 times, the experience was unforgettable. The river was quiet with very few boats on it. We were taken care of from the beginning of the trip until we checked out the following day. I will recommend this to any person, experienced or not, fit or unfit. The trip is not a marathon and you are free to complete at your own space.
- StephenXXXXX00GREAT TRIP UP THE SUNDAYS RIVER AND FUN SANDBOARDINGWe thoroughly enjoyed the boat ride with Adam up the river and then he dropped us off to do the sand boarding which was great fun for all of us. I give these two excursions 5 out of 5 but where they fell down was at the Reception and service at the restaurant. Upon our arrival it was a bit rough and ready there and there was a heated discussion going on between staff members. We ordered something light to eat before going up the river but it seemed to take forever to arrive and had to rush to eat it as it was time to go. Need to jack this area up. The boat ride and sand boarding were great excursions to do and if in the area then do yourself a favour and enjoy.
- lorrainesmith3400Excellent Lazy River CruiseNice hour and a half relaxing drift down the river towards the sea. Adam our guide was a very pleasant chap. Would recommend.
- songcam00InterestingGreat place to be will definitely visit again. The weather was nice and the water was so beautiful. It was refreshing and reviving.
- John M00Great sand boarding experienceWe were on a large flat bottomed two storey boat. We had hired it for 2 1/2 hours. We cruised down the river to the Sand Dunes. Our children enjoyed sand boarding.Steep climb up the dunes, And then whizzing down on boards well waxed by the crew. Great views and miles of sand dunes.Very good birdwatching.Excellent!
- Martin B005 Welsh Rugby Supporters. We were 5 Welsh Rugby supporters who booked a 2.5 hour Sunday afternoon boat trip up and down the Sunday River. We took our own drinks and snacks as stated on their website. The boat’s captain, Marius has great passion for and knowledge of the nature of the area, its history and we had a very special experience and we all enjoyed the trip on the water. Beautiful scenery. We also saw a variety of bird life and also some monkeys running to and from the banks of the river before disappearing in to the undergrowth. The river was filled with fish and it was fun manoeuvring up and down the river. Thanks for a lovely trip Marius (Captain Ahab).
- Frances A00Dying fish river cruiseWe booked a late afternoon, 2.5 hour cruise for R370 pp. We were very disappointed by what we got for our money, as we didn't get any drinks or snacks, and the cruise only lasted for 2 hours. We also didn't go very far up the river and all we really saw was the houses of Colchester. The most awkward moment of the trip was when a fish jumped into the boat and we had to listen to this fish dying for 20 minutes. All in all, very disappointed and would not recommend their river tours.
- jcampher00We loved every minute of it!We booked a half day experience that included a 90 minute boat trip, a 90 minute sand boarding experience and a lunch at the restaurant. The boat trip took us to the river mouth where we had the opportunity to climb the sand dunes and had the most beautiful view of the beach, the bay and the valley. Then we went sand boarding - and as first timers we didn't know what to expect. After a short briefing session, we were allowed to practice and just have fun at our own pace, with no pressure. Our children and grand children thoroughly enjoyed it with us - the youngest 4 years old and the grandpa 60 years old. The lunch served was a home made burger with real meat patties, and home made potato chips. A lovely day spent with this company which we highly recommend you add to your to-do list.
- Lindy Andre v00Activities and AdventuresThe most outstanding views of sand sea and sky. Sundays river mouth and dunes definitely a hidden secret. This is right on our doorstep and at the Addo entrance. Definitely a must to add onto your Addo trip should be done Sandboarding and sunset cruises. Karl is a great host and the evening cruises provide sightings of fish eagles, kudu and even elephants. Highly revommended
- jtamri00Awesome boathouse experience with breakfast to enjoyWhat a wonderful nights rest on the Boat house on the Sundays River which included breakfast before going to Addo Elephant park for the day. Thank you
- Giesen194300A night on the waterSpent an afternoon/night on the Maggie May houseboat. Wonderful experience. Marius and Simon hosted us on an hour cruise and saw to our comfort on the boat - were even there to help when our car would not start the next morning. Thank you!
- Geraldine G00Such fun!Had such a fun time on the sand dunes next to the Sundays River!! Sandboarding is definitely a must do!!! Be sure to grab lunch at Taste of Africa afterwards. A beer and burger is needed after an exhilarating sandboarding session :D
- doubletroubledare0400Call me a Sand Surfing chick at 51!Was so much adrenaline. No wonder my kids call me FOREVER YOUNG. Staff was so helpful and the group i was with was fun. Fell a few times, but eventually got the balance right and will never forget the experience!

Very personable and knowledgeable guide made for a great introduction to Addo Elephant National Park with Norman. We were a party of two and were really lucky to have seen elephants, a feeding lion as well as zebras and warthogs plus dung beetles plus so much more. Thanks to Norman and Sunday Rivers Adventures for a great outing!
