Overview
Avoid the tourist traps, and dive right into the authentic local food scene by going on this food lovers tour in Reykjavik. It’s a great way to expand your knowledge of local Icelandic cuisine, and get top restaurant recommendations too. Highlights include visiting the city’s oldest restaurant, going to a gastropub, and trying a variety of local dishes such as lamb soup, lobster soup, and skyr dessert.
Itinerary
  • You'll start at
    Ingólfur Square
    101 Reykjavík, Iceland
We meet up at Ingolfstorg Square in the center of Reykjavik by the two stone high seat pillars (Over 2 meters high), The square is at the beginning of Austurstræti (Austurstræti 1) and is squared off by the streets Aðalstræti, Hafnarstræti, Veltusund, and Vallarstræti. If you walk down Laugavegur (The main shopping street) please just continue all the way down until you come to the square always walking straight down until you can't continue further. On the Ingolfur square itself, you can see Kvosin a small grocery market and finally Center Hotel Plaza. We recommend for people to use Google Maps or something similiar because the Icelandic street names can be tricky :).

We had a great food tour with our wonderfull guide, Bardi! Lots of interesting talks and info. Lovely, high quality food stops, including some traditional stuff (whale and shark - which was weird and so much fun). Our 12 year old son enjoyed the tour as much as we did. Thank

This was the perfect experience to help get ourselves acclimated to the area, food, and culture! Our tour guide (Snædís, or "Snow Queen") was SO knowledgable and friendly! We went during a quieter time, so we had the added luxury of being the only ones on the tour, which made

We did this food tour on the day we arrived at 6am from the US, Feb 22. Even though we were completely jetlagged, the walk in the truly fresh air and trying the different foods was awesome! Our guide, "Gus", was very informative and so nice and funny. Loved the meat soup,
