    What to Expect
Dress warmly and begin your evening tour with pickup from your Reykjavik hotel. Hop inside your comfortable coach and leave the city for Iceland’s dark countryside.

On route, listen as your guide shares background on the Northern Lights, otherwise called the Aurora Borealis. Learn how they appear when charged solar particles collide with the Earth’s atmosphere, and hear the legends associated with the spectacular natural phenomenon.

As you travel, your guide will watch for any sign of the lights, and for the clear skies needed for sightings. It’s also important to be away from artificial lights, so your journey will take you far from Reykjavik, and towns and villages.

Keep a lookout from your coach, and stop at viewpoints to see or look for the luminous ribbons. Step outside for the best views, and with luck, enjoy a sighting or two. Capture the lights on camera, and keep warm with delicious 'kleina' and cocoa.

The exact tour duration depends on when and if the lights appear, and how long it takes to find clear skies. Then return to Reykjavik where your hunt ends with a drop-off close to your hotel.

Please note: sightings of the Northern Lights are not guaranteed on this tour. If the lights are not seen, you will be given the option of joining the tour on another date, free of charge.

We went on the first tour and saw nothing due to the high cloud coverage (despite the aurora index being 4), but I think the tour guide and the driver already tried their best. Then we went on the second tour two days later and luckily this time we saw the lights. They were very

We went on this tour with Hilmer as our guide. He was very witty and really knowledgeable about the Aurora - he and our driver were very patient, and didn’t give up on finding a good view. They stopped the bus at least 5 times to let us jump out and catch the Aurora, even though

This tour should of been canceled and refunded. There was a full moon and chances of seeing the northern lights where very unlikely. Not able to do the tour again during my trip as there is a full moon the whole trip. Waste of money and time. The duration states 3 hours. We

Dear Georgia, Thank you for sharing with us your experience. I am very sorry to hear that you didn't have luck with Northern Lights but I also need to correct some of the information that you included in your review. The full moon phenomenon is not a factor that has an impact on the Northern Lights visibility. Of course, it can cause that the sky is a little more bright but it has nothing to do for the Northern Lights to be visible or not. As a matter of fact, I am happy to say that we had an incredible Northern Lights show yesterday, even with the full moon that was still going on. I was surprised to read your comment about the 3 hours duration time. Just to clarify, our Northern Lights tours can always take from 3 to 5 hours. Everything depends on the weather and Northern Lights activity. We try our best to catch the lights and at the same time keep in mind that we don't want you to get too cold. The weather in Iceland is tough, so we always highlight how important it is to dress extremely well, bring a hat and gloves and wear thick socks. You are more than welcome to join again our Northern Lights tour tomorrow. The conditions look quite promising so it is worth to try! We wish you only great Northern Lights shows! Sterna Travel

We were collected from our hotel, very efficient and on time service. The guide was extremely welcoming and entertaining. We were also offered the opportunity to pick up another night if the guides felt the night had not been successful due to unpredictable nature. We did
