Canyoning in Kourtaliatiko Gorge - AMAZING EXPERIENCE with ECO EVENTS!
We had an amazing experience with Nick, Giorg and Barbara! Our canyoning adventure in Kourtaliotiko Gorge was great from beginning to end! We meet the guides at the prescribed meeting point in Koxare and the proceeded together to the gorge! We were fitted for our wetsuits and then put through our orientation and safety briefing! We then proceeded to the first of two repels with some cliffs jumps mixed in! The crew was very fun and very attentive! Photos are taken along the way and shared with us afterwards! This was an amazing experience and one that we’ll not soon forget! The gorge is simply beautiful to see and to repel and swim amongst this beauty was second to none! A must do for those who are visiting the area! ❤️ 🇬🇷

      Wonderful cooking experience
Me and my family (6 adults and 2 children) had a wonderful time at a beautiful garden to have Greek cooking lessons with the hosts Vincent and Rebecca. In the evening Vincent picked us up at our apartment and brought us back safely. For several courses we got the ingredients and with the help of Vincent and Rebecca we made and ate a delicious dinner, together with Raki and wine. Vincent gave us also tips for the rest of our stay at Crete. We booked it through Eco Events and I want to thank especially Amelie who arranged this lovely experience for us.

A real joy and utterly delicious
Wouldn’t hesitate to recommend. Vincent was an excellent guide/ translator and the warm hearted host Reveka a natural cook. We felt lucky to be part of the experience and the memories will remain a highlight of the trip. FYI We were a family group of 3 generations. Communication with Amelie at EcoEvents was faultless and Vincent collected us from our hotel and nothing was too much trouble. His knowledge of Cretan culture is extensive and I would definitely book with the Company again.

      Would do it again
Nora was a warm, friendly, and knowledgeable guide. We loved learning about the process of making olive oil, and loved tasting the beautiful products. The producers were so proud of their product and had a lot of knowledge to share. The wines were delicious and the winery is a gorgeous place to spend some hours. The penultimate stop was a restaurant in a little village, the food was outstanding and the family that operates the restaurant are incredibly warm and inviting. The conversation throughout the day was free-ranging and we were able to learn a lot about Crete and the culture here. We would recommend a tour with this guide and this company to anyone.

Good trip but watch out for pick up fee
Excellent tour with a fantastic guide Nora. She was super knowledgeable and made us feel very welcomed. The olive oil factory and the winery were remarkable! The only reason I am not giving a 5 star review is because of the surprise 50euros for hotel pick up. The website indicated you will be charged the fee only if your hotel is more than 10km from pick up point in Rethymno but no mention of where the pick up point is. Once I confirmed the trip and it stated we will be picked up at the hotel I assumed that there was no fee as is the case with every single trip I booked through TripAdvisor. It was not until the near end of the trip that we were told there is a charge. If I had known that, we would have drove to a designated pick up location as we had a car. Please state clearly where the pick up location will be to avoid a pick up fee in the future.

      Best Tour in Crete
Such a delightful tour! Vincent was a fabulous, knowledgeable guide. We had a lovely time and learned a lot about olive oil making, wines, and the history and culture of Crete. Our tour was topped off with an incredibly delicious lunch at a hidden gem in the mountains. We highly recommend this tour!

      Fantastic tour with amazing guide
Vincent gave our family a day to remember forever. We were promptly picked up at the hotel and didn't have to think about a thing. He was very outgoing and knowledgeable. We learned all about the olive oil process and tasted different varieties. All we had to do was relax and enjoy. Vincent felt like a part of our group, seamlessly leading us on our journey. During the wine tasting, we discovered the intricacies of the wine farm and their specialties in wine and food pairing. Later, we savored a delicious, authentic Cretan lunch at a hidden gem of a taverna in the mountains. You will not regret taking this tour.

      DO THIS TOUR!
This tour was so incredible! We opted for the private tour with a pickup and drop off at our hotel. Our tour guide Michael (Mixalis) was great!! He was so knowledgeable of Cretan and Greek history and we learned so much on the tour. He also made it so much fun for us and it felt like we were traveling around the island with our friend. The olive at the olive mill was delicious and we got to taste some Raki as well. The winery was stunning and the wine was also so good. Our final stop was lunch in a village at the base of some mountains with some beautiful views. It was overall a wonderful day and we definitely HIGHLY recommend this tour to anyone visiting Crete!

      Fun, informative and delicious
Definitely a highlight of our trip. Vincent was very knowledgeable about the local area and was very entertaining. Rebecca was also wonderful and it was super awesome to get to have some of her homemade raki and baked goods during the class. The food was excellent and it was a very fun time. Highly recommend!

So may different styles of pottery
Lots of pottery shops - each one seems to have it's own style, so visit them all. Some are tacky, some are whacky, some are upmarket Three had working potters to watch Prices vary from shop to shop Also good to find restaurant - we ate at Taverna Vernada

A great way to spend time in Crete
We had a lovely trip with Michael, who was completely charming and a young American couple it was really friendly and relaxed. The Olive Oil factory was really interesting, nice products to taste and buy, we had a coffee in the cafe before heading off to the wine tasting which was set in a really beautiful winery, stunning views of the hills. The five wines were delicious, and there was no pressure at any time to buy. Lastly, we went to a great family run restaurant called Ippokoronio in the village Nipos.  The food all grown and sourced locally was really excellent and washed down with more wine and raki. My partner and I had a really lovely day, and the trip was worth every penny.

      Good experience and learning.
The experience was wonderful however for the cost paid we expected at least better Wine and wine while preparing. If you go take your own wi e because the first batch is good but then it goes way down after that.

Interesting way of discovering Rethymnon, an informative tour, however the choice of timing was not suitable for summer months and we spent a good 4hours mostly in the sun although our guide tried his best to find shaded spots.
We were looking forward to learn more about cretan cuisine and sample different types of cretan cheese, olives, and dishes, but can’t say we achieved that, although we learned a bit more about the architecture and history.
We felt that the options were limited and the tour description wasn’t clearly showing the number of stops and what we will taste.
The first stop was at a coffee shop where we had coffee and sampled a traditional cheese pie, followed by a raki, olive oil and honey sampling, however it was only one of each making it difficult to compare and understand the differences. The next stop was by a famous bakery for some baklava which we took to go followed by lunch at a regular restaurant where we had few dishes to share.

Thank you so much for your review that we will take under consideration. Although your description of the tour is exactly as we say on our description :) so i do not understand how this was not clearly for you. Now for the sun… well it is very difficult from June to July not to find sun in Crete. But there is an option for afternoon gastronomy tour but only in private basis. And lastly let me disagree with the description of “regular taverna”. Alone you would have probably never found this garden, dated from the Ottoman Period. With local dishes and a twist of modern cuisine. Best Regards

Vincent was an excellent tour guide. The food was well chosen helping us to understand the Cretan food choices and how farmers take great pride in the food they produce. Rethymno is beautiful, Vincent provided us with a rich history of Crete pointing out how it influences the architecture and food. It was paced just right would do it again.

Rethymno is a charming ‘village’ although now a city. When one wonders through the maze like streets in the old city, you are taken back through time, the architecture has strong ties to to its past which has of course greatly influenced its food. It is a well planned tour including interesting stops where one learn not only about the food but also about the culture. Delicious food, knowledgeable tour guide make it a wonderful experience not to be missed

The guide, Dina, was local and very knowledgeable. She led a varied and informative tour, very well-paced. We visited lovely places in the old town and tasted delicious things. The company, Eco Tours, seems to have the right approach to helping tourists get to know the area, its people and customs.

I did the Rethymno Walking & Gastronomy Tour and the Wine and Olive oil Tasting with lunch. Both the tours were exceptional, and unlike the other tours on offer within Rethymno, ECOevents is personable. Nora was our guide for the walking tour, she made us feel very welcome, and through food and history, Nora helped bring the city to life. We left with a full stomach and a great appreciation of the town. Michalis took us on the Wine and Olive Oil Tasting. He provided us with a real insight into the Cretian way of life. It was fascinating to see the olive oil process and to get off the beaten track for lunch within the hills and views of the mountains. I would highly recommend it!

My extended family of 12 (ages 2 to 76) did the family treasure hunt and walking gastronomy tour of Rethymno. There were 5 kids ages 2,3,6,8, and 11. Maria and Costas were such warm, friendly, knowledgeable and wonderful guides. They were able to seamless keep both the little kids and the adults entertained for our whole tour. We made some stops to try authentic Raki, Honey and Olive Oil, watch Phyllo pastry being made by hand, eat some Cretan cheese pie and our final stop was a multi course, amazing lunch in a beautiful garden restaurant. Costas is also an archeologist and had a deep knowledge of history and culture in the area. Maria engaged and charmed our kids with a pirate treasure hunt and Greek mythological tales over lunch. We highly recommend this tour for a fun and delicious day with the family. Thank you to Maria and Costas!

Absolutely the best food tour I’ve ever experienced! Our guide, Maria, made it truly unforgettable. Her knowledge of the local cuisine and culture was incredible, and she shared stories and insights that brought each dish to life. Maria’s enthusiasm was infectious, and she expertly guided us through a variety of stops, each one offering unique flavors and culinary traditions.

From start to finish, the tour was perfectly organized, allowing us to savor each bite without feeling rushed. Maria went above and beyond to make sure we felt welcome and answered all our questions with warmth and expertise. Whether you’re a local foodie or a first-time visitor, this tour is a must-do, and Maria is the guide who will make it all come alive! Highly recommend!

The gastronomy tour delivered the perfect introduction to Rethymno. Vincent, our guide, provided an excellent tour of the old town where we found secret areas of the town not normally visited by tourists. We enjoyed the foods we tried and the shops we visited. We definitely felt like locals after the tour. Thank you, Vincent and Costas!

We booked this tour for our first full day in Crete. What a great way to become oriented to both Rethynmo and the area! Despite being off-season, Kostas provided us with a beautiful, entertaining picture of the history, culture, and food of Crete. Knowledgeable and well-spoken, he shared personal stories and experiences, lovingly illustrating the Cretan way of life. The food on this tour was incredible as were Kostas' recommendations for further gastronomic explorations. Don't miss this quintessential introduction to Crete!

We enjoyed this walking tour of the old town with Mickhail. He was very informative about the history of Rethymno and the Cretan food culture and he took us to authentic establishments that we wouldn’t have necessarily found. There was certainly plenty to eat and drink and we weren’t rushed. Overall an excellent excursion to do.
