Acropolis Walking Tour, Including Syntagma Square and Historical City Center
From US$46,78
Roaming the antiquities on Athens’ Acropolis slopes by yourself may give you only a sketchy picture of their history and risks you missing some must-sees. With this small-group walking tour, a guide shows you around and sheds light on each sight’s past. Plus, the tour begins at Syntagma Square, so you cover some of Athens’ more modern highlights, including the Parliament. Admission to the Acropolis is at your own expense.
What to Expect
Greet your guide in Central Athens and stop to see the ancient artifacts displayed at Syntagma Square metro station. View the treasures, including an ancient beehive and tombstones, and learn how they were unearthed during construction work here.

Walk on to Greece’s Parliament building to admire its exterior, as your guide explains its former use as a royal palace, and then delve into historical Athens. Stroll along streets lined with stately buildings and see antiquities, including the Temple of Olympian Zeus, before hitting pedestrianized Dionysiou Areopagitou Street to explore the Acropolis’ slopes.

Gaze up at the Acropolis’ temples, including the Parthenon, and pass the Theatre of Dionysus, Philopappou Hill, the Odeon of Herodes Atticus, and Mars Hill. Here, admire the panoramas over Athens, as you learn how St. Paul once preached from the rocks.

Your tour concludes at the Acropolis summit.

Learning from Aristotle

Our tour guide's name is Aristotle, and he lives up to it. Trained as an archaeologist, he possesses an incomparable passion for and knowledge of ancient Greece. We learned so much from him! Best tour we have ever taken!
