Discover Porto’s authentic food and drink on a guided culinary tour that explores the city’s vibrant cafes and markets. You’ll be walking through the city with a gourmet guide, learning about local food culture, and pausing to taste a wide range of treats. Try a traditional tart, coffee, seafood, pork, beer, tapas, and locally-produced port wine, all while getting a food-lovers glimpse of the historic city.
What to Expect
Meet a guide near Porto’s Bolhão market, then set out on foot for a tour of the city’s cuisine. Start with a cup of coffee and a pastel de nata, a traditional Portuguese tart, and enter the market to browse open-air stall piled high with local products.

Duck into a historic cheese and meat shop for a beer and a bifana, a classic pork sandwich. In a nearby tavern, among the oldest in the city, sip a shot of a little-known Portuguese liquor along with bolinhos de bacalhau, a salty treat made from dried cod.

A highlight of any Porto tasting tour is port wine, and you’ll visit a specialized wine bar with hundreds of varieties for a guided tasting. Make the last stop of the day in a traditional tavern and graze a variety of tapas, a delicious conclusion to a gourmet experience.

Our tour was just over three hours but we were the only ones on it as it was early season . It would probably take longer if you had a big group .
