Overview
Madeira’s northwest coast boasts varied landscapes and attractions, but a typical coach tour to these dispersed sites doesn’t allow much time to explore. Benefit from a private tour in 4x4 vehicle, and experience a thrilling, multi-terrain adventure. Visit landmarks including Paul da Serra and Porto do Moniz, and enjoy the undivided attention of your driver and guide as you explore the jungle and, weather permitting, dip in the sea.
What to Expect

Begin your full day trip with pickup from your Funchal hotel by 4x4 open-top vehicle. Cruise across Madeira’s wild northwest coast, visiting a number of charming locations along the way, including Serra de Água, Chão dos Louros, Porto do Moniz, Seixal, and São Vicente, before heading back to Funchal in the evening.

During your day, admire the region’s varied landscapes, from coastal to mountainous, and experience different driving terrains, from hard, rocky roads to narrow forest trails. Take part in a guided hike into the forest, and learn more about the region’s history and culture from your expert guide. If the weather permits, enjoy a refreshing dip in Porto Moniz, or savour a local lunch in Seixal (own expense). At the end of your excursion, enjoy convenient drop-off back to your Funchal accommodation.

A wonderful day for all the family

Our guide was Joseph who was very informative, great fun and always making sure that everyone on the trip was happy. The trip was packed with a whole host of different experiences from some pretty rugged off road venturing to a wonderful dip in a...More

Outstanding full day day out in the north of Madeira with Green Devil and Greg

I read many reviews on Tripadvisor and often see trips described as excellent. In this case that word falls way short of our experience on the full day trip to Porto Moniz and the north of Madeira. There were 5 of us in our group,...More

A fantastic day

I'm so pleased we chose this tour for our one-week holiday. We got to see much of what Madeira is famous for, even if not from the sites that are the usual suspects. From seeing waterfalls to going above clouds settled into the valleys, the...More

Great experience!

- Enthusiastic and friendly drivers, they give quite some information during the tour. You can also ask them anything about Madeira. Great views and several stops for pictures. Full day well spent. Not your typical boring bus ride! Great.

Truly Unbelievable

The best tour I have ever been on. Breathtaking, thrilling, and Valdemar was the perfect guide. Your start on the tour at first seems suspect because the 4x4 is dated (for reasons that become obvious later) and with the cover on the back seems hot...More

I do not think this is included. We drove through the village and had a drink near there. But check with the tour operator because we had bad weather so they may have changed the schedule.

It appears to be open to the public for swimming. The tour does not allow time for a swim.

So when we went it was 15 minuets at Porto Moniz but it was absolutely for the right reasons. After Porto Moniz our tour guide (Val) took us to a separate lava pool that was without tourists and was more beautiful... More
