By way of their maritime and fishing vocation, which will have its maximum exponent in the first half of the twentieth century, when they will be noted for the tenacity and courage of their captains, sailors and fishermen in the fishing campaigns for Cod - a Faina Maior, in the stormy Arctic and Atlantic Oceans, which bathe the coasts of Terranova (Canada) and Greenland.
This and other links from Ílhavo to the sea can be seen at the Ílhavo Maritime Museum, which, in addition to the building, has the only surviving cod fishing trawler. The ship is an integral part of the Museum and houses temporary exhibitions.
The Vista Alegre Historical Museum is a space that aims to store and preserve the memory of Vista Alegre's artistic porcelain production.

The booking offered by Tripadvisor is misleading.The company running the bike rental- Biclaria, is great and staff very attentive. The problem was the offer made by Tripadvisor; very misleading, saying that you pay €12 for 5/8 hours bike rental and have a choice of different bikes. The money was taken from my account 2 days earlier than thr agreement and once we were there, even asking through Tripadvisor messages in advance for a electric bike, we had to pay extra (double the price advertised on Tripadvisor) to pick the bike we wanted. She was a delight to work with, and made sure we had everything we needed for the ride. We wanted to see the cute striped houses, the palheiros, and the ocean/beach. - ulrike r0 contributionsFantastic Ebike rentals for 5 day tour along Atlantic Coast of PortugalI contacted Helena and Antonio to organise a 5 day bike tour along the Eurovelo 1 Atlantic coast Porto to São Martinho do Porto. They delivered 10 ebikes to our hotel in Porto. The e-bikes were of high quality and had bike bags for our clothing. We worked out our route and stopped at Aveiro 1st night. They organised a lovely boat ride along its canals. They checked our bikes again and we checked out their shop . Helena takes great pride in selling well made travel goods . We said good bye and continued our bike tour. We loved the rides everyday, had great weather and enjoyed the many bike specific route. They picked up the bikes in our last stop. - Suainaval0 contributionsIf you need a rental bike - don’t go anywhere else in AveiroWe had a family trip to Aveiro and mixed weekly and daily rentals. Helena and the team could not have been more helpful and the bikes were in great condition and well maintained. The area is trying hard to develop safe cycling routes and over the coming years this will make the area even more attractive for cyclists. We had a great adventure to Barra beach and were helped by a local person who helped us around a temporary diversion - it turned out that this was one of the Biclaria team! This sums up the friendly, helpful attitude that we found. Don’t forget to visit the shop for some really lovely clothing, crafts and gifts too.Written 29 September 2023

It was a great way to escape the city centre for a bit, the bikes were all well maintained and sized for us, with helmets and locks provided. We had a great time and was well worth it. We rented trekking e-bikes that were in excellent mechanical condition, and a pleasure to ride for 35 miles. The lady owner was very friendly and helpful giving us a map and directions to make our days cycling very easy and enjoyable for us. The bikes were excellent, well maintained and comfortable. Bikerental Biclaria (the bike rental place) was very friendly and tried to make up for the unfulfilled promises.
